I wanted to give a shout out to the 4 people that helped me today (6/2/26). My 3 year old son is autistic and cutting his hair can either be easy or really difficult depending on his mood. My toddler was in rare form for his cut and crying. The barbers chair (I didn't get his name) was all the way in the back left. He was so sweet, he had the help of two other barbers. One helped keep my son's head still and the other made sure his movie was playing. All while another girl (she had green highlights) cut my hair. She was kind enough to cut my hair next to my son without my asking and I loved her for that. I appreciated that they both took their time and they were all 4 very nice to us. I know working with a crying kid can be overwhelming and all eyes were on us but the barber took it in stride and his friends were kind enough to help out. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and has a great vibe with music I enjoy. Azzarel was my barber, and he was friendly, professional, and easy to talk to. [I think her name was Julia.] I came to this barber college for a simple cut and when I came in, she was insulting from the start and not welcoming. All I asked for was a simple haircut and not to be mocked. Her conversational skills could've been better. Overall she wasn't a decent person and she represents your business. The same goes for the other girl pictured below who did the same mocking actions as Julia did. I don't know her name because she never introduced herself. P.S. there's something labeled #000 in the picture below, so it's a thing. EDIT: Now someone, by the name of "Jennifer N.", messaged me the following day, who I assume is the other girl or it could be someone else. If it's someone else, not related to the college, then ignore it. I'm just putting two and two together and assuming it's her. Once again West Coast Barber College has saved the day! I used to bring my son here but he would cry so much I started cutting his hair myself. My husband gets his hair cut at a California Cuts near his work and they always do a terrible job so I started cutting his hair too (I also did a terrible job but at least it was free). When I scheduled our family photos I was insistent that everyone have a perfect haircut. I sent my husband and son to a local barber who did a good job previously. When they went though the daughter of the barber who had recently gotten her barber license cut their hair. Needless to say, it looked terrible. So I gave them a week to recover and sent them to another barber college in San Marcos (we live in Escondido). I had assumed they would get a perfect haircut like we've always gotten at West Coast Barber College. Sadly, I was mistaken. With only one chance left (their hair was already pretty short) I knew we had to go to West Coast Barber College. So we took a 40 minute drive to get there with our whole family and it was definitely worth it! These guys are the best there is! Perfect haircuts! The salon was clean and everything went smoothly. There was not one issue and they handled all the COVID rules perfectly. Thanks guys! I'm so thankful for all your hard work and amazing skills. I usually keep my haircuts simple, however, Danny Caplette was my first barber there and he asked if I would like skin fade down to a straight razor line up. Hell yea why not... Had not been here for a haircut since before the pandemic - - - wife had been cutting it during that time (and not that well). Went in at about 10:20 a.m. and they had m-a-n-y students available to cut hair. Shawn greeted me and asked me to sit in his chair. He looked at my existing hair then listened to what I wanted. I've been coming coming to this barber shop for the past 3 years and can gladly say this is my go to spot to get my hair cut. The instructor Travis is an extremely knowledgeable and skilled teacher as I can trust any of his students to cut my hair and do a really nice job. One of my good friends Phil Urbina was one of his students last year that graduated. He's an extremely talented barber now as I remember how he was when he started out in his backyard/church cutting hair, then going to this school, and now working at Gentlemen Den! Recently I came back to get a trim by a black man who was, I believe, in the Army for 15 year who gave me the best cut yet from this school.
