He responded quickly and walked me through the steps for the airport pickup and the return. Reservations made... Easy peasy. The rides themselves were a joy. We chatted and laughed... Except I made a mistake with the original pick up time. I put 2:45 AM vs PM. My fault. I had a very hard time getting ahold of anyone. (Email on website didn't work) calling they told me to email this was 15 minutes or less after booking. Finally I called the next morning and got someone. Luckily they were able to change it for me. Skip to day of arrival. Of course our connecting flight was delayed. I messaged city captain to let them know we were going to be later than expected. Our original driver still showed up at the normal time and asked where we were. I told them that I contacted the company and the rescheduled for A little later. He told me to call him when we were out of baggage claim. In the meantime, I got a message that a different driver was on their way to pick us up at the new anticipated time. I let them know our original driver was waiting for us. I didn't hear anything back, so I Joe they cancelled that driver. We finally got picked up and dropped off at our hotel. Phew! The driver was super friendly and understanding when we apologized about the situation. Fast forward to scheduled pick up from hotel to be take to the airport at 4 Am. I was texted at 3:30 that our driver was on the way. I stood outside of the hotel until 4:05 when I called and said "hey we were supposed to be picked up at 4 and our driver isn't here" I don't think they remembered. You could see their car on the map that was not driving. Shortly after my call it started moving. 20 minutes late our driver showed up. Luckily we were able To navigate through the airport quickly to make our flight. I am not sure if these issues are normal? We have scheduled Ubers before at 4 AM and have never had an issue. Dispatch says they do accept them but some drivers will tell you they already "did their credit slips for the day".....according to some other cab companies its illegal for them not to accept it (I suppose because if they have the service they can't discriminate but credit takes longer for the driver to receive his fares) No grudges against the company, dispatch was polite and the driver was prompt (within minutes of calling he arrived)...could have been an isolated incident; it was my first time with this company.

I politely asked his what his suggestion would be, he told me VERBATUM " UHHH BUY NEW CARSEATS" Ok, sure. not taking in to factor that car seats are easily over 100 dollars a piece, but HELLO is there a magic CAR SEAT store at the pier 69! I asked the dispatcher if she could give me a fixed rate or minimally a quote: She wouldn't. For me, a woman coming from out of town, it did not give me the assurance I needed that, things would go well, if I couldn't be given the courtesy of a fixed rate or minimally, a quote up front. That lack of transparency was a big red flag. I crossed them off my list. I then called Coastal Cab and spoke with Adam, the dispatcher. I asked him for a fixed rate and he said, "Of course," and guaranteed the ride would cost $50 from the Del Cerro neighborhood to the airport. I made the reservation and called about 30 minutes before my pick-up time, just to ensure I was on their list for a ride at that time and he assured me I was and the driver showed up exactly at the requested time. The cab (a Prius) was clean and the driver (Jamal) was friendly, a good listener and most importantly, reliable and safe. It seems to me that it's rare these days to have such an experience of competence and ease with making arrangements with a new business, but Adam and Jamal made things seamless for me. I will absolutely call Coastal Cab in the future, next time I'm in San Diego and need a lift.

As an older woman, I didn't feel comfortable with a ride share, so I Googled taxis and found great reviews for Coastal Cab. I called them, and they had a driver to my home in less than 30 minutes. The car was extremely clean, and the driver, Abdi, was very professional and friendly. He put my wheelchair in his trunk, safely drove me to my destination and set up my wheelchair upon arrival. It was such a great experience, that I called them back the next day to take me back to the festival at the Rady Shell.
