A bunch of stuff was missing, lots of broken items and when they showed up to load there was only two of them, the truck was to small we had to leave lots behind and the driver was drunk! West coast movers??? More like west coast scammers. They have provided us with incorrect scale receipts where the dates don't match our move and refuse us to provide current ones unless we pay an additional $2000 over the quoted price and $300 for the new scale receipts. Asking for current weight receipts isn't unreasonable. They are now refusing to answer calls or emails and are keeping our belongings hostage without offering to provide any reasonable solution. If they are so sure and correct they shouldn't have an issue dealing with our reasonable request. Considering since I've been asking for receipt daily since our items have been picked up Wednesday. They told me we would have it within 30-60 minutes after pickup and to find out it wasn't weighed until today and the scale receipt for pre weight was 5 days before our move with no identifying information. What are they trying to hide from us, if they made a mistake no harm done admit and move on. Don't inconvenience people that are over provinces because you're to proud. We are understanding and forgiving but we shouldn't have to intrust over $3800 to get the simple documentation that was promised in the first place. She has had a terrible experience with this company. They were VERY UNPROFFESSIONAL in all aspects of the job. They were not dependable about arrival and departure times, damaging walls and numerous pieces of furniture, overcharging and double billing, not living up to the agreement and then to top it all off left my daughter standing outside her storage unit with a bunch of heavy pieces of furniture not being loaded into the unit. My experience with West Coast Movers was TERRIBLE. They initially promised all these services "with" our booking, but there were at least 3 hidden costs that we found out about, on the pickup date. The person we spoke to only said "no garbage bags" as a rule for the packing, but they actually mean all bags; Apparently everything needs to be in a box - would have been good to know in advance as we bought thick, airtight, sealable packing bags for our clothes. We received no emails with preparation instructions. They also showed up 2 hours EARLY for the pickup, which meant our elevator access was affected, which was going to lead to additional fees as well. For some reason they can't confirm the time of pickup until Noon on the day before (their words). They say they'll call with a pickup time, but every single time WE have had to initiate the call to get any information. They stored our stuff for 3 months, which was weight-based and fairly priced. This is really all the good I have to say about our experience. When it came time to arrange for the delivery date to our new home (no more than 2 weeks exactly in advance), my spouse received a verbal "no problem" from them. This whole time it has been the same person who has answered the phone every time we called - and was also the same person that gave us verification of the pickup date. We are told we'll get a call "a few days in advance" to confirm the exact delivery time... never did. The Friday before our "arranged" delivery, we still haven't received any sort of notification or information. We start calling/emailing/texting in a panic from Friday afternoon to the Sunday of our delivery. Their hours are listed on their website (which lists they work all 7 days of the week). We left about 15 calls, voicemails, texts and emails from Friday night to Sunday evening - ALL with no response. We even spoke to an accounting person who said they'd reach out to someone - nothing. So now we have an empty house with no furniture - we had to borrow an air mattress and blankets from one of our bosses. We finally get a hold of someone Monday morning (same guy) and their response is "it's not on the books". They tell us that our things will be delivered on Thursday OR Friday that week, and that we have to call on Wed to find out the time (why is this MY responsibility). We do receive a call on Tuesday to say our things would be delivered on Wednesday morning so that was a pleasant surprise. And the delivery itself was surprisingly smooth, although almost all of the boxes we had with arrows or "fragile" were unheeded completely. Luckily most of our things were ok. In all, we spent around $200 on basic supplies and an additional night at our airbnb as we were left high and dry for at least 3 days. All we asked for was a refund of this amount - and we still haven't heard from them a full week later regarding this MASSIVE inconvenience to us. Uhaul called us 4 days before our move from BC to Alberta and told us they didn't have any trucks... so we had no choice but to find movers. West Coast Movers. Stay as far away from these scam artists as humanly possible! In NO WAY what so ever do they follow their own mandate: "Customer satisfaction is our priority. And that is our secret to a successful business". This is quoted directly from their own website. Believe me this is in NOT how they conduct their business. Of course you will also be nickeled and dimed for every roll of tape they needlessly use. No care and consideration what so ever will be put into your move, they will more likely them not be late. I lost 2 entire days waiting on them to show up, when a simple telephone call to inform me that there would be a delay would have sufficed so I could continue working. But that is not even the worst of it. The worst of it is the Fraud they will try to perpetrate on you over the weight of you move. I was concerned when I saw other peoples belonging already packed in the truck sent for the move. My concern being would those things would be added to the total weight of what was left of my household possessions after a catastrophic fire destroyed my home and garage where most were stored. My requested for the scale ticket from their company was ignored on 2 separate occasions. As my home was completely destroyed by fire in 2021, I had informed Christian I would require storage temporarily when moving my remaining possessions from one Alberta city to Calgary 284km's away while I waited for the rebuild to be completed. WCM was to be provide storage free of charge for 6 weeks as per our agreement. 4 weeks later I received a bill for over $729. Evidently when you OVER BILL someone by 3,466lbs of household belongings, storage fees are considerably higher. I immediately requested my belongings be taken to a third party off site storage facility who only charged me $200 a month for the same amount of storage. Of course before WCM would release and unload my possessions I had to pay the $729 in storage fee that was to have been included in the cost of the move. (Please note I was eventually reimbursed.) That is correct I was over-billed on weight by 3,466lbs. After not being unable to review my scale tickets I informed Christian in July that I would be having this very reputable Storage Facility weigh my possessions as the container left the yard to be delivered to my home. Well the house took longer then expected to be complete so when the third party company were finally able to deliver my things at the beginning of November it weighed in at little more then 5,214lbs, a far cry from the whooping 8,680lbs I was charged for by West Coast Movers. When I called Christian to discuss the situation at hand I was dismissed and told "well if we did your move in May why are you just calling now. It's your fault you did not call sooner". Needless to say it was a heartless thing to say to a homeless grandmother waiting for her home to be rebuilt after a catastrophic fire "what do you want me to do about it now". "It's your fault not mine". To make matters worse many of the few possessions I had left were damaged beyond repair by careless movers. In retrospect to be overbilled 3,466lbs may seem minor compared to many of the other complaints I have read with even higher pound differences, but to ME and by definition it is more then enough to constitute a fraud case and I will report it as such with both the Competition Bureau Canada (www.competitionbureau.gc.ca) and the RCMP Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. Additional review from previous one! *Bonus* Not only did I need to spend the first night in my new home sleeping on the floor because the date of arrival wasn't honored, a significant amount of my belongings were lost and damaged. My couch arrived without cushions, my coffee table was damaged beyond repair as the legs were ripped out, multiple boxes one including one with my personal art, an ottoman, a vanity chair I've had since childhood, a free standing mirror, cat scratching post amongst other things were lost. I received one email after multiple attempts to address the lost and damaged items in which I was told they didn't know where they were. I submitted a complaint with the BBB which was ignored. Over multiple months I was ignored. Two of my family members contacted them and after recently speaking with my dad they offered me a settlement of $200 on the contingency that I 'remove my ugly reviews'. I will not. As for my ugly reviews, they are earned by Christian and this company. My time, money, and my belongings were disrespected so extraordinarily. If a good review would be earned it should be because of strong communication, accountability, the arrival of personal belongings in the same condition that they were picked up, honored dates of arrival or at least information on delays. These reviews were earned 100%. If they are going to being removed it will take $2500, which is the amount of money I gave to have a significant amount of my belongings lost and damaged, my time wasted, and my importance as a customer minimized. I have to continually deal with the missteps of this company as I am a single person who now has to acquire items that fill my home because the ones I had and loved were mishandled and neglected. Where do I start. If I could give this moving company a minus I would . Avoid using them at any cost . I booked a move with them from BC-SK on June 26th. I was quoted about $2800 subject to change of course if me weight was different then what was quoted on as well as a few other things that may occur and it happens so I totally understood . I was supposed to receive a call the day before regarding my pick up window . Around 4:30pm I still had not heard anything from anyone . I called quite a few times and no answer. Finally I got a hold of someone and they told me they would call me back before they closed . I got a call around 8pm saying they would be there between 8-10am. The next day 10:30 came around and still no word or sight of anyone . I kept calling Christian and no answer but I was able to find another phone number on Google and spoke to Pablo. He told me the drivers were caught at the scale in Hope and would be there around noon . I get things happen but common courtesy to make a phone call and let your customer know as our landlord was coming for 11 to start doing our move out paperwork. They showed up around 1:30pm . They parked in my back alley/ drive way . Immediately when they entered my house they told me I would be charged an additional 10 cents a lb due to the distance from my back door to the truck . I asked them how they measured it and they said they just assumed but would take pictures to verify with the dispatchers. I had no choice but to agree as It was 2pm and I needed to be out asap . Took them about 4 hours to get all my stuff out . One of the movers was constantly on his phone and I caught them goofing around a few times with the hose . My husband works out of town and I was 7 months pregnant at the time so I felt they took advantage of me as a women a lot . My sister and her husband came by and he told me sister the move was about $5000-$6000. She said something to me and I was like umm no, I was quoted a lot less and he said "oh I'm just guessing" and walked away . I wrapped my own mattresses with covers and was told that they had to re-wrap them because mine weren't good enough. They supposedly wrapped up a bunch of "other things" I didn't see and charged me for that . He said if I had any issues to bring it up with their dispatch next week. I then asked if they were going back to scale in then to their warehouse in AB and they said no they weren't heading back to to AB but we're heading to the scale. On June 29th I called Christian and explained everything that happened . He said to wait for my invoice to come in and he would see what he could do but wasn't making any promises . July 1st I revived an invoice of over $6000 minus my $200 deposit . I got charged $700 for the extra distance, $280 for mattress covers , $75 for a tv box and the scale ticket said my weight was more then quoted . I was told I had to pay by July 3rd on the invoice even though my agreement was a day or so before delivery. I did not receive an in our out scale ticket with my invoice either . That took a few days to be sent over and the scale in date was 2 days prior and scale out as almost a week later in AB. On their agreement it says 16KM from pick up location . Not to sure how they scaled in 2 days prior but told me they were late due to being stuck at the scale. I called Christian on Monday and explained everything and he had an excuse for it all . Said why didn't I tell the movers I didn't want the extra things ( I wasn't given an option they said I needed it for insurance purposes) and they charged me for 7 mattresses covers, I only brought 2 mattresses . Said he would have to talk to the movers about the distance charge but they do not legally have to measure it they are just allowed to charge . I told him I felt taken advantage of as a women and that it wasn't fair I was getting charged all these things and he said he would call me back . Took me almost a week to get a hold of Pablo . They pretty much told me their drivers are saying something different and that I'm a liar . i had to pay upfront in order to get a delivery date. they showed up in a 52ft trailer and I was not able to things into my storage . They had multiple customers things on the truck. Boxes showed up tampered and damaged, furniture damaged . Mattress pads ripped and my daughters doll house missing . They pretty much told me I couldn't make a claim and I needed to stop wasting mine and their time. The only reason I got my daughters doll house is because I spoke with the RCMP and they did if we didn't receive it thats considered theft and they brought it that weekend . Wish I could give negative stars. Place is a scam. They are horrible at returning phone calls and emails. Been sleeping on the floor for a month now. Was told our belongings would be in our new home April 17th, when no trucks showed up we called and called and finally got through to Pablo and he informed us all our stuff was still in Ontario. (We moved to Alberta) He then couldn't give us a delivery date, 2 days later we got an invoice with our remaining balance, when we called to confirm the office lady said our stuff should be delivered within the next coupe days as she only sends the invoices when the shipment is in its destination area. Come to find out that was also a lie, our stuff was STILL in Ontario. Now they are telling us our stuff with be here on April 29th. Christian is brutal to deal with, he claims "Im in sales so I have no answers" Pablo is horrible at communication and refuses to call me, will only call my wife. Talk about dumb and dumber They told my wife I was rude on my voicemails, maybe a little sure, but when your screwing people over of their household belongings, yeah tempers are gonna fly. Absolute thieves and scammers. They are holding our stuff hostage. They claim that our items were 17,000 pounds when we moved six months ago how do you exact same stuff minus a set of patio furniture and a couch and it was 4180 pounds. The only waybills they provided we're from five days before our items were picked up and didn't even match the truck that picked up our items. Now they're trying to say that our stuff is actually 7000 pounds they made a mistake. We were told we would have our way bill within a half an hour after pick up and now it's Sunday pick up is on Wednesday and they've just weighed it in a different vehicle and expect us to pay for that. They cannot provide proper proof of the weight of our items. They are literally laughing at us on the phone saying it doesn't matter what we do in the end they're going to win. Be very careful if you're dealing with Christian he makes plenty of promises to get your business but does nothing once they have your stuff. This company is not reputable and you should not deal with them if you can avoid it. Their solution was for us to pay the entire bogus bill, PLUS $300 and they would go and weigh the truck. If they were wrong by 300 lbs or more they would refund our. We did say that we don't trust him and that we would be happy to pay the full quote and then follow them there and if there was a difference we pay but they said there's no way you expect us to trust you. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! 100% YOU WILL GET SCAMMED!!!! I picked West Coast Movers after speaking to a dozen moving companies. Christian was friendly, fast to respond to my questions and gave me all the information I needed. So, I felt confident our move from Calgary to Kelowna would go smoothly. We got a phone call with less than 24 hours' notice that they would be at our Calgary location a full day early, which I accepted and we stayed at a hotel. The movers damaged our hardwood floors BADLY during move out and then said it was accidental and the homeowners problem. We then spent a week fighting with the new buyers as they wanted $10,000 to repair the floors. Christian said after looking at the pictures "it looks like an easy fix". That "easy fix" estimate came in at over $6000. The estimate for moving was WAY off. Our cost (weight) was double what we expected based on 'their' estimate on a 4 bedroom house being between 8000-10,000lbs and we came in at over 17,000 lbs. (maybe re-assess this quote system) + they charged us $1000 in packing supplies because they ripped up cardboard boxes to wrap our furniture. When they didn't show up on delivery day we called multiple times to finally find out that my delivery date wasn't a guarantee. I was NEVER told this. So, another hotel night. By the time they showed up the next day it was 5 pm and they'd already unloaded an entire house already so they were exhausted. They weren't able to finish unloading. They had to lock up the truck at 11pm and come back the next day. Our bed didn't make it in the house, so, yes, another hotel stay. The movers damaged multiple pieces of our furniture. A large shelving unit that we bought for $2500 got damaged badly because the movers removed shelves from it that were never meant to be removed so it split the wood. When we tried to get some kind of reimbursement/compensation we ran into endless unanswered calls and emails. Refusing to ever speak to my husband, Christian after WEEKS finally got back to me offering us compensation of $200. But to receive that, I'd need to sign a settlement agreement. WE paid over $8,000 to WCM + thousands more repairing damages they caused. We decided the tiny 2% compensation wasn't enough for us to keep our mouths shut about this company. Don't make the mistake we did you WILL have MAJOR regrets! They're endearing and helpful and all the things you'd want in a company moving all your belongings to be, when you first call... but completely heartless and so very condescending to me once they had all our belongs, leaving us at their mercy just hoping to get it all back... so you dish out the cash and try to recover from a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. read more
