I didn't feel like he was ever rushing out appointments which was nice. I also liked that he wasn't too over the top with lots and lots of ultra sounds if it wasn't necessary. Midwife Chris ended up delivering my baby. It was an amazing experience, she really was incredible, and I hope I can have her deliver my next baby as well. I feel like I didn't thank her enough for being as good as she was. My whole birth experience was really awesome, especially as a first time mom Will be using them again in the future

I was referred to Dr…read more Capetenakis by a functional medicine doctor, and was hoping that by establishing care with a "boutique medical practice", I would get the care that I so desperately needed. Long story short, I ended up having an excision surgery for Stage IV Endometriosis, and it was so bad that I also ended up needing a bowel resection. For being told multiple times during my visits that my pain was due to ovulation, my fibroids weren't an issue (he had women with 12cm fibroids get pregnant), and that the developing cysts on my ovaries were nothing to be concerned about, it was a genuine shock that my situation was so dire. My doctor that did the excision surgery shared that I had a life expectancy of 5-6 years if I had not been treated. With regard to the office experience, it is a shock that his office does not send out appointment reminders. According to his staff, they are too small. Given that my dog groomer, acupuncturist, and my therapist all manage their own schedules and send automated appointment reminders without issue, that is definitely an area of improvement. Especially when I was charged a $50 no show fee for an appointment that I never scheduled. All in all - they tried. However, when a patient is far too complex they should be referred out to another provider, not told that everything is fine and to move on. If it were his family, I doubt he would have taken the same approach as he did with me.

Dr. Kohatsu was a breath of fresh air. She was always friendly during prenatal appointments and gave me her full attention. She never cut appointments short. She proved herself a good listener by remembering personal details about me and my family at each appointment. I suffered a miscarriage, and she was very empathetic in her communication with me. She gave me her personal recommendations for moving forward based on experiences in her own pregnancies. During the births of my children, she was calm and in control, making me feel more comfortable. For the birth of my second child, there were complications during labor, and she stayed at the hospital for hours late at night before I was ready to deliver to make sure that I was okay. I really can't thank her enough for her professional yet caring service to me during the biggest moments in my life. Also see reviews for Poway Women's Care and Pomerado Hospital.

After my C-section, I presented with severe abdominal and vaginal pain. She was rude and nasty and stated surgery didn't cause any of my symptoms. I had severe undiagnosed endometriosis at the time and didn't even know it. She recommended I have my cervix out without any explanation as to why she was recommending that type of surgery. What physician tells you to move forward with removing an organ without an explanation? The doctor who assisted her during surgery is nowhere to be found. Her office has stated the doctor decided not to practice anymore. Now I have to have endometrial tissue removed from my C-section scar among a whole host of other issues due to this physician completely dismissing my symptoms. My girlfriend had a C-section with this same doctor and has permanent damage between her vaginal area and rectum.

Kayti allowed me to be in active pushing for over 4 hours and expressed no concerns. My family pulled her aside on two occasions expressing their concerns regarding the prolonged time and belief that my baby was in jeopardy. Kayti insisted that it was completely safe for me to continue pushing. My family had to intervene and call 911 against her recommendation to get me to the hospital. Upon arrival, the hospital team catheterized within seconds. Kayti and team tried to do a catheterization multiple times at home and were unable to do so. My delivery and its aftermath revealed multiple critical health concerns which were related to a high stress prolonged birth: my baby's cord blood showed excess acidity, indicating high stress levels and posing a risk of brain damage; my baby's glucose levels were low, requiring 24 hours of monitoring; and my baby had difficulty regulating his body temperature, dropping as low as 94 degrees Fahrenheit, necessitating placement under a heating lamp. All these complications relate directly to a stressful and mismanaged labor.

No words can truly describe the experience I had with Kayti but I will try my best to write it out…read more I was referred to Kayti from my doula Rosie. She was the first Midwife and the only midwife I called to interview. I instantly knew that she was going to be my midwife. The prenatal care that I had with Kayti was remarkable. My appointments with her were more than clinical. My husband and my toddler were able to come to the appointments. I truly felt that Kayti listened to everything I had to say. She really got to know me as a whole person medically and personally. Which is really needed when you are planning an intimate home birth. During my labor Kayti and her student, Amy were there for me every step of the way. I was never scared at any point of the birth. I put all my trust in them and felt supported the entire time. This says a lot because my labor was over 48 hours and I ended up transferring to the hospital because baby did not want to descend into my pelvis. I believe that Kayti did everything she could for me and my baby boy. When she told me that we needed to transfer. I knew it was the right decision. Even then, I felt like my baby and I were safe. We then transferred to the hospital and Kayti stayed with me and advocated for me until I had to go back for a cesarean. Post natal care was just as amazing. Since I did not get to have the birth that I had planned at home, Kayti planned a rebirth and a bone closing ceremony for me at my home at our last meeting together. That was exactly what I needed emotionally and spiritually. This just shows how thoughtful and loving Kayti is. My baby boy didn't come into this world as expected, but it was his own unique story and Kayti was apart of this unforgettable experience. I am forever grateful for her and Amy.
