TL;DR - Food and venue looks great, but our personal experience was not.
This venue looks absolutely fantastic. It's a great take on sort of diner you'd find in the East Village, albeit with a bit of a cooler retro chic vibe. Every time we've seen the place it's been packed so we felt incredibly fortunate when we managed to walk in at lunch time and get a table within just a few minutes.
We ordered a club sandwich and eggs benedict, plus couple of flat whites. Coffees came promptly and were very nice indeed, and we sat there drinking them watching plate after plate of food come out - everything looked mouthwateringly delicious.
And we waited. And waited. But our food just didn't show up. And then we realised that people who had come into the restaurant after us were getting their food. And then we realised that those people were being served the same dishes that we had ordered... so we queried it with our waitress who said our meal would be out next. And we waited. And waited. And more dishes were served to other people. After 45 minutes, our food was still nowhere to be seen.
No member of staff came over and updated us on what was taking so long. Nobody apologised for the delay (even when we spoke to staff about it). So we got up and walked out. We complained to someone who didn't apologise and seemed unable to understand why we were leaving.
I've only ever walked out of one other restaurant in my life, and I gave that place one star. The only reason I've given this place two is that I genuinely believe the food looks awesome. Clearly a lot of other people were having a great experience, but ours was far from it. read more
