I found out I had breast cancer one afternoon and my breast surgeon had West Country Plastic Surgeons set up an appointment for me the next morning. I didn't have time to google breast reconstruction surgery so I had lots of questions at my appointment. Dr Myckatyn spent over an hour with me and explained all my options and answered all my questions. I never felt rushed even though I know they squeezed me in. Dr Myckatyn is a gifted surgeon with an eye for detail and wants his patients to be happy with their results. He is very talented and I highly recommend him. The office is lovely and the staff is great. I have also been seen by nurses Tina and Lorraine and they made me feel very comfortable. I also like that you can email and send pics to the nurses through their portal and they get right back to you and answer your questions. I've also had a facial with Jennifer and she was great too. I highly recommend Dr. Marissa Tenenbaum. She listened to my needs and did a beautiful job. I had 30 year old breast implants removed due to a bleed from the implant. I have had multiple breast implants over the last 20+ years. I am at a point in my life where I am over implants. Every doctor I had seen NEVER mentioned just removing the implants permanently and going back to just my own breast tissue..... until, I met with Dr. Tenenbaum. I didn't realize that was an option. Very disappointed in my skin consultation. Expected way more being this is an office supported by Washington University. I'm a 45 year old woman experiencing changes in skin-especially dullness and looking less youthful. The esthetician did absolutely nothing except provide me with some brochures related to facials/products I could try. She didn't look at my skin at all. Very disappointing. I went in so excited and left unhappy. Glad the consultation was complimentary because otherwise it would've been money just thrown out the window. read more

Keep in mind that this was just for the initial consultation. I was expecting to get an eval from medical personnel, especially after the questions on the form they had me fill out. Instead, I was seen only by a spa esthetician...who recommended a strong peel and hair removal at amped-up prices. I have olive skin and black hair, and I certainly don't have a fair complexion. The peels, especially strong ones, are not always successful in retaining skin tones on people who don't have a fair complexion. They may be good at the actual plastic surgery level, but I question the spa services. read more

I had a tummy tuck a few years ago. Impressed with the consultation and pre-op instructions I scheduled the surgery. while in pre-op prep and on mild sedation, Dr. Myckatin told me he would need to create a T-scar rather than a straight line. I agreed- my trust was very high. I followed all post-op directions perfectly. Two months after surgery the scars were rope-like and I had pulls on the side (these are called dog ears). The doctor assured me all would be well. One year later when I returned with the same complaints he said I must lose 10-20 pounds before coming back. At that time, I weighed less than when I had the surgery. I am 5'6" and weigh 155 lbs. Three years later and the scar belly-button down is still misshaped and noticeable. I still have the dog ears on each side of my hips. The scar across my hips looks great. So yes, the tummy pouch is gone but naked, I look like a victim of a knife attack. Obviously my after picture is not on their site. To fix it, I will have to pay for another tummy tuck...and go through the recovery time. It's bad enough, I am debating it. read more

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in January of 2013. Dr. Myckatyn joined Dr. Amy Cyr in my bilateral mastectomy with tissue expanders just a month later. I did a lot of research and trusted Dr. M. implicitly based on my findings. I ended up having to have radiation on the cancer side, and Dr. M. recommended against an implant on that side. He felt DIEP flap would be my best option - after a lot of my own research online, I struggled to come to a place of being comfortable with a decision to have this procedure done. With his help, I was connected with some of his patients who have had a variety of experiences with the same surgery. After receiving an email from one of them with answers to my questions late in the evening, I emailed Dr. M and told him there was no way I could go through with this. I was shocked to have an email in my inbox from him when I woke up that morning. He reassured me, and made sure his staff got me additional people to talk with. Since then we have exchanged several emails, he's never rushed me or made me feel as though any of my questions were unimportant. I had my DIEP flap surgery done on December 13, 2013 and couldn't be happier. I still need some tweaking, and have a little ways to go before I see the "finished product" but I am really happy he advised me to go with this surgery. He's truly has the best interest of each patient at heart. Not to mention, his staff is equally as amazing as he is.... from Chelsea and Kristi at the front desk to Marilyn, his nurse, you absolutely can't go wrong entrusting your care to this team.
