I hope the staff and students at Appleton East realize what a special school they have here…read more Although I was never lucky enough to be raised in Appleton so I could attend this school, I was lucky enough to complete observation hours and student teaching here. Even though I can't offer a student perspective, I can still sing the praises of this school. What makes this school SO incredible is the sense of community. Everyone at East is proud to be a Patriot and everyone supports each other. For example, there are often different groups (sports teams, clubs, etc) who raise money for a certain charitable cause by selling t-shirts. Without fail, both staff and students will not fail to support that charitable cause by purchasing shirts. Solidarity is a word that comes to mind when I think of Appleton East. Everyone stands together and supports each other. If there is a problem, then it will not go ignored. For example, there have been meetings open to everyone to discuss bullying and there was a Words Hurt campaign where all students got involved. A very helpful way that teachers have gotten to know students better is through advisory classes where students are able to meet with the same advisory class and teacher two mornings a week for all four years. That is really a special thing and shows that the school prioritizes the student. Through advisory, students get another resource and advocate in their advisory teacher. One thing that makes East stick out a lot to me is how the school embraces technology. Every morning, students read news announcements, which is televised and broadcast to every classroom in the school. The kids do a great job with it, and it's an excellent tool for establishing a morning routine. Sometimes there are even commercials for different events, which are also student-created. Overall, it's clear that Appleton East High School is a special place where teachers truly care about their students not only in terms of their formal education, but also in terms of their entire being. Kids Care has been an awesome place for my child. She started going there since she was 4 months…read moreold and she loves it there! She has lots of friends and has really bonded with all of the teachers there. It's wonderful knowing I can take her there and go to work knowing that she is ok and being well taken care of. They do such a good job with the children. The owner, Mary, is so personable and friendly. They are very communicative with the parents. They say it takes a village to raise a baby. Well, I think of them as my village. They have been a huge to helpto me and have been able to answer so many of the questions I had as a new parent. I would highly recommend this place!

Children are able to work beyond their typical age level and explore at their own pace. At the same times, the teachers have special education back grounds so they are able to provide extra help and ideas for students who learn in different styles. Having ages 2.5 - 6 year old inthe same classroom fosters a love of learning and teaching in children. My son gets so much out of learning from children close to his own age rather than an adult. Montessori also prides itself on respecting the student and providing an environment where children learn to self direct and work independantly. Children learn to respect one another and take responsbility for their own learning. Independance is a key factor to Children's House. My 2 year does dishes on a regular basis, can sweep and mop floors, and even clean windows. These are all skills that I would not execpt of a 2 year old and yet Montessori has taught me that children are capable of doing all sorts of things for them selves. "I can do so many thing, all by myself" is sung regularly in the classroom. Contrary to popular thought, Montessori does expect children to learn certain age appropriate lessons. Instead of a typical classroom, the children are given work assignments (3 for example) but they have a choice of which to work and for how long. All that is expected is that at the end of the work period, they have worked on all 3. The children learn to self direct their learning and there is never a child sitting around "not doing anything." If a child is having a tough day, the teachers work hard to help them through it. The school also has Kindermsuik, a Library Reader, and even a Yoga instructor! The kids run their own garden in the spring and fall. They plant and take care of the garden themselves. It truly is a wonderul school. You should check it out!

I know searching for a trusted day care service is a daunting task. As a parent, I feel I would be…read moreremiss if I did not include my experience at this place in as many review sites as I can. A couple weeks ago, they had a rummage sale inside the facility on a Saturday. There were three adult women there and a few children. I assume one of the ladies was the director as she was talking about making special scheduling and pricing considerations for a friend. This lady was really shouting at the children in the place and using a very nasty voice. They were most likely children belonging to the women present. Regardless, as I shopped (slowly to see how riled this lady would get) one would think she would be on her best behavior. Yelling at kids when indirectly representing a day care business is not a wise choice. It made me wonder how bad it gets when she is one-on-one with the kids without adult ears nearby. I suspect she is very aggressive in her communication to misbehaving children. If the place is convenient to you and you like it during a preliminary interview, I would highly recommend sitting in to observe for a couple hours. The rest of the staff may be top-notch. The place is very clean and bright and cheery.

Not only is she getting the direction she is looking for but also making life time friends. The support, camaraderie, and encouragement she receives from her teachers and friends is amazing. I would highly recommend this studio for any one wanting a professional ballet experience.
