This is my little girl, Isis in her pink kitty stroller for her checkup appointment @ West End Animal Clinic!!
    Emi B.

My little Isis does not enjoy going "bye bye" but on Saturday she took a ride in her little pink kitty stroller down the street to West End Animal Center. She was surprisingly calm and everything went 100% smoother than I had imagined, and I believe it is because the staff and her new Vet were amazingly caring and kind. for a kitty that does not like to be picked up or "handled" she allowed the vet assistant to get her out of the stroller and even onto the scale. That says a lot, animals know when people are kind and caring. Dr Frye was extremely helpful with Isis' nutritional needs as well, making suggestions for my tubby girl to lose a few pounds (she's 17 lbs) I would definitely recommend this business to anyone who is looking for a veterinary clinic for their furbaby. ***my "foster fail" baby Thor loves his doctor. I was fostering a bottle baby and as soon as he hit 5 weeks I made a "well baby " appt with Dr Frye. At the time I was just fostering the bottle baby, then I paid for his well baby check up, then his first shots....then I named the baby, paid for the second, then the third set of shots...Yeah, by then I was never ever going to give the kitten back to the shelter besides, Thor would see his travel bag and jump right in, he knew he was going to his doctor. Dr. FRYE performed Thors neuter procedure and now Thors all good until his next shots are due. Any time a cat runs to jump into his travel bag (knowing the only place he goes in it is to see the vet....) you know that vet is Good! Most pets don't want to go to the vet. I highly recommend this Veterinary Clinic

We are so happy we found Dr. Frye. He is a compassionate Vet that is honest and trustworthy. We love doing businesses with him and his staff- all warm and friendly. We've been with him for 10-months now and drive from Mill Valley especially to see him because he has made a bond with our dog and us. Dr. Frye looks out for our dog and looks out for us as well; we had been to other vets that seem to look out for themselves and the animal at the owners expense. We have a somewhat needy dog, his office program makes giving our dog the best care more affordable. I was also pleased to find out our good friends have been taking their pets to Dr. Frye for 20+ years, he has a good reputation because he is in the business for the right reason, he's a family-centric, compassionate animal lover and an intuitive doctor that I trust to diagnose issues small and large.

My vet retired, but I stayed with the practice and my dogs saw Dr. Siek. The good of coming here evaporated with 3 specific events: 1. My elderly dog Skippy had a medical emergency and I called to tell them I was bringing him in. They told me that I needed an appointment or I should go to the emergency clinic. My dog was essentially dying in my backseat and I was closer to their office than I was to the emergency clinic so I said I'm coming in. He's been a patient forever & he's coming in to see someone there. So I brought him in and he was indeed dying. As he lay dying in my arms on the floor, waiting for the vet to come in and see him, the assistant staff came in and said brightly I'll just take your credit card now!!! I could not believe the audacity and also rather the cruelty of saying that to someone as they're holding their dying animal, yeah let's not forget you need to pay for his euthanasia. It was disgusting. Someone might argue: They didn't want me to worry about it on my way out. Ok but they could have billed me - they knew where I lived as the saying goes. 2. When my dog Daisy died suddenly and tragically, I emailed Dr. Siek to let her know, as she had treated Daisy for 3 years.+Did I ever receive an email response back expressing any kind of sympathy? No, I never did. Nice. 3. I gave the clinic one last chance when I adopted a cat and brought her in for her first free visit with VCA. I neglected to let them know that she had a coupon from the Humane Society up front - ok my mistake but big deal right? all you have to do is recalibrate the invoice --the front office staff person literally yelled at me on the phone that I had not told them in advance. They say the good you do in the morning can be unraveled at the end of the day; this is exactly my experience with this clinic. Any good experienced was unraveled by these three incidents. Do yourself a favor and find yourself another practice for your beloved pets.

I was happy to receive a referral to San Rafael Animal Hospital, which is still privately owned by a practicing veterinarian. After receiving what I felt was an unreasonable estimate for my small dog's dental cleaning from another clinic, I met with Dr. Archinal and immediately felt comfortable with both him and the entire staff. The estimate was fair and transparent, and I especially appreciated their pricing structure for tooth extractions, which is based on the complexity of the extraction rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. This gave me confidence to move forward with the procedure, and the final cost was very reasonable. My pup tolerated the dental cleaning and extractions well and is doing great. Based on this experience, I'll be moving all of my pets' routine veterinary care to San Rafael Animal Hospital.

Melissa kindly handles everything at the front desk and office - her Dad, Dr. Archinal has been a vet since 1982, and is calm, kind, and wise. He's seen so much - his very presence is reassuring. I felt like, no matter what my dog was dealing with, this Dr would have experience and can offer meaningful perspective and advice. What I came in for - was 2 small lumps on her that I was afraid would need biopsy and maybe more - he looked at them and said, I don't think they are a problem, you don't need to do anything, just keep an eye on. What a relief - hundreds saved there! And - even more - when I adopted my 80# dog from a large East Bay shelter 3 years ago (she was dropped off as a senior at a night deposit box, with broken off teeth, so we did not know her past) - I took her to UC Davis dental vet dept and was quoted $5-6k to address her situation. That was out of reach for me so I gave up hope on being able to help my dog in that way, but I'd do the best I could to give her the best life in other ways. It was so scary I didn't even want to look in her mouth from then on, and it was hopeless anyway. Dr A calmly apprised her situation, gave me solid simple, do-able, advice about how to care for her teeth and gums from now on - and I got a quote for less than 1/3 of that prior quote to do the dental work she needed! Now, I feel like I can take care of this, finally, 3 years after adopting her. God Bless this honest, down to earth, family clinic that treats their patient animals like family too!

And, they've also been wonderful to us. Everyone that we have interacted with seems so good at what they do, and they are so gentle and sweet with Twinkle. I feel like at other veterinary practices that I've been to over the decades of pet ownership, it's the vet that's great but the staff is rude, or the techs are nice but the vet has no bedside manner, or some other unfortunate scenario. But, here, it really is just a breath of fresh air with the level of skill, the professionalism, and the pleasant ambiance. We completely trust them with Twinkle's care, and highly recommend them to any pet owner.

I had specifically requested the most comprehensive urinalysis available, because I had explained detailed concerns about my dog's health. What I received was a basic analysis -- and my dog didn't even have a UTI. The bill also included two small bags of supplements. When I asked for the test to be repeated correctly, or for a partial refund of $237 for the analysis I didn't receive, my request was ignored. I'd strongly recommend checking the details of any test results you receive here -- and comparing prices online before accepting any service or product. My second concern is far more serious. For over a year, my dog was limping. During multiple visits, the vets here observed her walking in and still only prescribed pain pills and anti-inflammatory medication -- never investigating further. No one identified the damaged cruciate ligament she had been walking on, in pain, for all that time. When I finally met the owner to explain the situation, she kept her back to me the entire time, never once looked at my dog, and sent us home with more pills. After years of unnecessary suffering and thousands of dollars wasted, I took my dog to UC Davis Veterinary. When I described her symptoms over the phone, they immediately suspected the cause, scheduled the right diagnostics, and confirmed the problem. My dog underwent a delicate surgery that, thankfully, went well -- despite the condition having been ignored for so long. Products here are also priced two to three times above what you'd find online. You are paying top dollar for a very high level of care that, in my experience, you are not receiving.

Some of the issues we experienced at Redwood ... The staff is awful, as in they all roll their eyes at her when she has her back to them, and when they are in the room with her, she's training them as they go. She hires people that are totally unskilled as vet techs, and she probably pays them poorly. They all look miserable. Her office is also dark and like a weird version of "Get Out", vet edition. Our pup had a UTI, and Genevieve had us worried that something was seriously wrong with our pup, and she pushed $800 of tests on us. Then, she didn't bother to tell us that she was taking off on vacation for over a week, so we sat in misery waiting for her to get back and tell us the results, because no one else in her office could do that. Basically, we helped fund her stupid vaca, because there was nothing wrong with our dog. She then told me that our pup has a thyroid issue (despite her thyroid level being normal on the tests!!) and prescribed meds for her- she totally misdiagnosed her and was going to put her on meds for no reason. I did not get the meds, as I knew she was totally erroneous in her diagnosis. Finally, when I emailed her about my concerns and shared that we felt frustrated by her lack of care....about her freaking us out needlessly...running a bunch of unneeded tests, and subjecting our poor dog to unnecessary pokes and jabs, and about her not letting us know that we wouldn't have the test results as she was taking off on vaca (leaving us hanging for over a week)....she merely responded " do what you gotta do". As in, she could not care less if we left her practice. I'm not mincing my words here...she is total trash, and completely negligent and unethical. I think you really have to be a terrible person to run your business like this, and to treat pets and people this way. Absolutely avoid her and this place. **NOTE most of her 5 star reviews are fake profiles (with one review only). This is an indicator of false profiles to help boost her ratings. About our pup and her UTI, we found (via NextDoor) a wonderful vet practice in Fairfax, and we have been taking her there ever since.
