The atmosphere was peaceful, reverent, and inviting, making it easy to feel comfortable as both a visitor and a parent. The service itself was beautiful, and I truly appreciated the sense of community and faith present throughout the congregation. It was refreshing to be in a place where people seemed genuinely happy to see one another and worship together. The only challenge for me was having my toddler with me. Like many parents, I felt self-conscious and guilty whenever she made a little noise during the service. However, I also know that children belong in the congregation and are an important part of the Church community. While it can be difficult navigating Mass with a young child, I appreciated being able to worship with my daughter by my side. Overall, St. Mary's left a very positive impression on me. The warmth of the congregation and the beauty of the service made for a meaningful experience, and I look forward to attending again.

Rainey as its first pastor and is one of the oldest black institutions in Rock Hill. With support from Northern Presbyterians, it ran a private school as early as the 1880s and was a mission church until 1912. This Gothic Revival sanctuary, built by church members who were also brickmasons and carpenters, was built between 1897 and 1903." On the other side, "This church features a three-story tower and pointed-arch and quatrefoil stained-glass windows. The congregation was a center of the local Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s. Hermon Presbyterian Church was listed in the National Register of Historic Placed in 1992. After the congregation moved to a new church 1 mile southwest on Heckle Blvd, in 1999, this historic church became a community center."
