I'm a current patient of Angela Melland, and I am so thankful I was referred to her through a family friend. While other reviews are correct, they do require a $200 deposit for your appointment, that $200 is used towards co-pays and any fees. In my case, I was tired of going through the gamut with poor quality providers and wanted someone that was thorough, so I was willing to pay up front based on the referral I received. Once again, I'm so thankful I did - Angela has changed my life drastically, for the better. From day one, Angela listened to my concerns and the struggles I was having, while validating what I was feeling and explaining why I was feeling that way. She is passionate about the work that she's doing and it shows in her commitment to her patients and their overall wellbeing. She takes time to attend conferences and reads in her time outside of work, to continue to improve her knowledge in the area that she is providing service for. Through her recommendations of several books and online resources, I have been able to educate myself on what I (and others) experience so frequently. Angela took the time to listen to my concerns in regards to medication - something that any mental health patient values - and she didn't disregard what I said. She requested lab work to ensure she was making the right medical decision to proceed and validated that the symptoms I was experiencing weren't coming from another source. We found nothing wrong with the current plan, which another provider wanted to abruptly stop, and I was able to continue my treatment. This allowed me to work with Angela over six months, to build a solid treatment plan, that addressed ALL of the issues I was experiencing. I don't see Angela as frequently as I did while we were building my treatment plan, but every visit is the same experience: Angela is a thoughtful provider that is exceptional in her field. She has expertise that cannot be overlooked. I would HIGHLY recommend Angela, and I do, to anyone looking for mental health support. read more

I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Meany and Emily. Both were so amazing that I followed them from their previous practice. They go up and above every time. My husband recently took a job in CT so I will be moving out of state soon as even then I will be flying back every 3 months for check ins as I refuse to see anyone else. My adolescence has been ridden with depression and anxiety so subsequently I have seen my fair share of providers. I can honestly say he is the ONLY doctor I've ever seen that has been able to stabilize me as efficiently as he did, and continues to do with my endless requests for dosage tweaks. He is truly one of a kind. He respects, listens, and most importantly explains without making you feel like you ask a "stupid question". And just to throw this out there- I have worked as a nanny for a neurologist for a few years now through grad school as a nanny to her children. Over that time she knew I was trying to stabilize my eating and mental health. Her being in neurology I have continually given her updates on meds and status to get her feedback. Not only has she validated and admired his work with me, but said providers who are able to do this kind of work are unheard of. Former 3+ year client of Marie Olseth. Abruptly "released from her care" when she was needed most. I was sent a letter in the mail stating she could no longer treat me because she and her office staff were not equipped to do so anymore. No referrals, no verbal communication, just a pathetic letter in the mail after working with her for years. She put no thought into my treatment and often didn't show to our appointments and had one of her staff take notes and pass it on to her. Horrible experience with a negligent and lackadaisical psychiatrist. read more

Disclaimer: have not been seen for treatment here (and that's why I gave 2 stars not one..since my phone experience was certainly not 2 stars worthy but I don't want to be too harsh since i haven't been seen by a provider here and would hope/expect they have better people skills and a better understanding of the information needed to make informed decisions about mental health care). ------------------------------ My phone call to scout out the clinic to determine if its what im looking for... not impressed. The girl I spoke with, Emily, is likely just a secretary/scheduler..so while I don't want to hold the lack of knowledge against her or the business, she became very condescending in tone very quickly and pushed for me to schedule an intake appointment without being able or willing to answer my (reasonable I think) questions. I wanted to know what kinds of treatment they do for adult ADHD. This clinic had been recommended to me by a provider I had been seeing who does not specialize in that area and I did not feel I was having the progress I wanted to see. Emily wasn't able to answer this; she defaulted to "each treatment plan is customized based on the individual's needs". I pressed her: "ok I understand that but what are the various potential modalities used.. I'm trying to determine if this would be what I'm looking for and I don't think I should have to go to an intake apt to find out what types of treatment your clinic uses for patients with this diagnosis". She told me intakes are 1 hr and follow-ups are 30 mins, she also felt the need to tell me there is a down-payment for reserving an intake (likely trying to dissuade me I felt, since I was being pushy with wanting information- as I hadn't yet asked about cost, was only asking about how they work, what services they provide, how they go about addressing adult ADHD). I asked her "what kind of therapy could you possibly be performing in 30 mins for adhd patients...my current med appts are 20 mins so I cant imagine both could be executed in 30, therapy is usually an hour". She wasn't able to answer. After getting quite terse and sounding frustrated, she offered to transfer me to someone else to answer my questions. I spoke with Linda who was muuuuch more helpful. She explained that within their staff of 2 psychiatrists, PA's and NP's, no therapy was done at this clinic- only medication management (which as someone diagnosed as an adult, i find VERY surprising as medication is certainly not enough on its own- just a tool to make it easier to develop other skills you're lacking after years of not being able to function like other people seem to). For CBT or other skills-based therapies (common for addressing the skill and cognitive deficits associated with ADHD, as I understand) they refer elsewhere. I explained I already have a med provider and while im open to finding a new one in the future, that wasn't my priority and again, didn't think I should have to go to a $300+ intake session just to be told where I could/should go for skills-focused therapy. Thankfully, after all of this, I was able to get recommendations from her for three clinics they often refer people to for ADHD therapy (Sonder Behavioral Health and Wellness, ACP, and Prairie Care- in case any of you are also looking for something similar). So yeah, all-in-all...for a clinic that specializes in ADHD, I was really unimpressed with the customer service and lack of helpfulness of their first contact person... if someone is calling about services, they should not be pushed for an expensive intake session without determining that this is even the appropriate service for them. Which leads me to believe that they are either 1. profit-focused or 2. woefully undertraining their secretary/front-desk staff on the field/services/basic customer services skills with regards to people trying to better themselves. For anyone wondering and shopping around, if you are looking primarily for a med provider, these are the rates I obtained during this call also: Intake: $300-$375 (depending on whether you see a PA/NP or Dr) Follow-up 30 min appts: $280-$340 (ditto) Best of luck to all of you in finding the right place for yourself! Not the place to go if you think you have ADD. They'll bounce you around between providers - re-doing the evaluation for some reason, even after a diagnosis. I was given the proper medication for only one month, and even though I told the second provider how well it worked, he prescribed me something else. read more

I love Dr. Olseth. She's great, she cares about her patients and has helped so much in the past year. She also has Dr. Nelson working there now. The two of them make a great pair and their office space is beautiful. It doesn't give that generic Dr office feel you get at most places. I'd definitely refer them both to friends and family. read more

Unprofessional, rude, and cold. After explaining my mental health history to Dr. Olseth I was told that due to the fact I had a lengthy history of depression, anxiety, and hospitalization that I would have to find another Psychiatrist. Just wow. No referral. This doctor is just looking for easy clients (I don't see myself as a difficult client). After reading other reviews on other sites I can see this is a pattern for Dr. Olseth. I just wish I would have read the reviews before I waited three weeks to be turned away.. Do yourself a favor, start with a different MD. read more

The most thorough initial appointment I have had with a psychiatrist. Rather than just adding another psych med, their evaluation revealed an underlying illness that needed to be treated. Thanks to WECG I am now doing great. read more

Horribly managed facility. My initial consultation with Dr. Olseth lasted a total of 5 min. I was told I needed to reschedule as they did not have my medical records yet. I was billed, along with my insurance company, for this "appointment" that never occurred. I have reported this to my insurance company as well as the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. I never returned to this clinic and question their ethics (and if this constitutes insurance fraud). read more

She was great! Until I needed help and could not get in for an emergency appointment. Recommended for those who are looking for light care. Not the right doctor if you are looking for someone who will be there when you need help the most, unfortunately. read more
