Before starting treatment, I specifically asked Michelle to verify my insurance because, as a teacher living on a budget, I could not afford unexpected costs. I delayed treatment for a week so they could confirm coverage, and I was assured my insurance would cover $1,500. Based on that information, I signed the contract and began treatment. Months later, after already being deep into treatment, I was suddenly told that insurance had not covered anything and that I was responsible for the balance. When I questioned this, I was told they had only done a "verbal" verification and had no documentation of it. Despite repeatedly assuring me coverage had been verified, they now point only to the contract saying I am responsible if insurance does not pay. Communication has also been extremely frustrating. Calls were not returned, I was repeatedly placed on hold until the office closed, and promised callbacks never happened. Meanwhile, payments continued being deducted without proof of payment being provided. Unfortunately, while the orthodontic treatment itself seems fine, the business practices felt unprofessional and predatory. I trusted that my insurance had been properly verified before committing to treatment, but instead I was left dealing with unexpected financial consequences after I was already "on the hook" in the middle of treatment.

I was shocked, that would mean they double booked my appointment and either if I said no, my original appointment wouldn't be available. So I never responded, they cancelled my appointment for me, I thought. THEN, a few days roll by and I receive a letter saying I OWE THEM $75 for missing my appointment. I do not understand the logic behind the charge when you asked me to come in a different time. Organize your appointments better and stop grasping at straws for pocket change.

I started working in Huntington last year, asked around for dentist reco's, and kept hearing about Dr. Kalmar. People raved about it and now I see why. I made my first appointment there a few months ago and after not having seen a dentist for a couple of years, I of course had a lot of follow up work to be done. As soon as I let them know that I had my wedding coming up, they bent over backwards to get all of my appointments in the allotted time. They even offered an extra cleaning day before my wedding free of charge. Because of all of the appointments needed, I had to see ALL of the different dentists at different times and each one was better than the last. It is such a warm, friendly, welcoming place, and the dentists really make you feel like family when you're with them. They work efficiently, yet in a very gentle manner. Only downside is that they book up quickly so sometimes you have to wait a few weeks to get an appointment. That being said, I've never waited more than 3 minutes in the waiting room so that more than makes up for it :)

When calling Dr Romeo's office for a F/u appt recently I was informed Dr Grassa had moved to Sayville so I called and made an appt. I saw him recently at Sayville Family Dentistry. My initial interaction with the friendly receptionist was positive. I then saw the hygienist who informed me I may need to return for two deep cleanings, although she had not taken X-rays yet nor had she done my cleaning yet. I was then seen by Dr Grassa who briefly examined me then told me I had a cavity in my wisdom tooth and the tooth required removal. Never showed me the tooth in question by using a mirror, never showed me anything on X-rays and never explained why he came to his conclusion. (I had X-rays done 8 months ago and have never had tooth discomfort). He told to see a dental surgeon. No referrals given for a dental surgeon, no documentation given as to why he reached his conclusion but just a very dismissive /disinterested attitude about my dental care as he just walked out of the room. I do not recommend this dentist and I already have an appt. with a new dentist. I should have seen Dr Romeo instead of wasting my time.

I was greeted with smiles and soon after they sensed my fear the lovely receptionist went out of her way to make me feel relaxed. Not just her but everyone! My fear at the dentist also includes the dreaded cleaning. I have super sensitive teeth and the hygienist went out of her way to make sure I was not uncomfortable in any way. Cleaning and X-rays complete! Unfortunately the worst news followed - root canal. Took me a few weeks to be bold enough to return, but I did. Scared was an understatement!! I was constantly reminded that that I should not be in any pain and the dentist continually made sure that indeed I was comfortable. After a total of 5 visits my root canal is complete and I can not be more grateful for the outstanding service I received. I may not enjoy going, but at least I know moving forward that I finally have a great dental office to which I need not fear. Danielle the receptionist was wonderful in getting me in, and I saw Dr Jones who was amazing! So personable, great bedside manner and explained everything clearly and made sure all my questions were answered too. Stacy the dental assistant was very sweet also. Overall just a wonderful experience, I'm so glad I chose to come here, I can tell they are a very professional, well-run practice. Highly recommend.

Kalmar Dentistry in Huntington, NY. I made an appointment…read morefor my one and a half year old to go to the dentist for the first time to see Dr. Mackey. We showed up a few moments early and called to let them know we were outside. They sent out a person to take our temperatures from our car and ask us questions. He said they would call us when they were ready for us. A few moments later the called us to go in. Once we entered they asked us to use the purely from their stand up dispenser, which of course we did. My husaband and I, dawning our masks waited a few moments. We were greeted by the doctor who told us they were cleaning the room. Now they clean the room with these ghost buster looking back packs. Very exceptional in my opinion. We were called back by the lovely assistant. My husband sat in the chair with my daughter in his lap. Soon Doctor Mackey came in and suited up. She was already wearing a mask and eye protection. She suited up in a new full body smock. She put her gloves on and greeted our baby. She was so wonderful with her. Taking her time to familiarize her with her gloves, letting her play with her hands and showing her some instruments. She got a few peaks into her mouth and from what she saw all was good. She provided me with great advice on how to get her used to teeth brushing (ok bad mom here, I've been using a wash cloth in the bath to try and wash her teeth). She recommended a toothpaste and then gave us a baby brush. She was so friendly and good with Veronica. I really can't recommend this practice enough. I have been before and their cleanings are so thorough! Dr. Mackey was able to spot an infection in my tooth and send me for a root canal. This infection has been there for years and other dentists had missed it. I'd spent countless money and time going to sinus specialists and migraine doctors. Since the root canal I haven't had a migraine or nearly as bad sinus issues. Can you imagine?! This practice doesn't take DMO which my employment offered for free. I upgraded my dental plan at work and pay $70 a month for my daughter and I to have the proper coverage to see this practice. It is absolutely worth it. Also if you don't have insurance they offer private plans as well. If you've had a bad experience at a dentist, you know how important a good dentist is. Dr. Mackey and staff are fantastic dentists. I would highly recommend them. They certainly help to make me smile
