I have a boat in South Shore Harbor so shop here regularly. They have most everything you could want for a boat. Their prices are often higher than online, but if you are in need they are the place to go. They have friendly helpful staff. I have a rewards account. Almost every time I go I have $10 or $20 in rewards. read more

I don't know why this place has a low rating but my experiences here are always great. I'm new to boating and have had excellent service all around from everybody in the store. Jaime on the reel and tackle has been a great source of info from tying knots to lures and bait. I was able to also purchase a Daiwa 5000 combo when everyone was sold out. They also have a great selection of fish finders. I bought a Garmin 74SV and returned it for a 94SV WITHOUT any issues. This is my go to place for boating and fishing! read more

Needed an inverter, so I got on the website and found exactly what I was after. The website showed that the kemah location had two in stock. I made the 50 mile round-trip only to find that they had none on the shelf. Many of us rely heavily on retailers websites for this kind of information. How hard can it be to keep this accurate. read more

Customer service here is as customary as ice water in hell. One of the worst run stores in the entire area. Last visit included rude attitudes from 3 of their employees. So glad to have this store nearby! Despite what an earlier reviewer said, I think the staff are great.. you can tell that just about everybody here owns, lives on, or works around boats. They know their stuff and are more than helpful. Prices are reasonable (not as cheap as online, but then WM has to pay for these stores). Most importantly, they almost always have whatever obscure part I need. I'm happy to pay just a little more for that convenience, since it means I get to spend more time on the water, rather than hunting for or waiting on parts. read more

Done with West Marine; The last couple of times I've been here, they don't have anything I'm looking for, and no one offers to help. They used to carry a wide ranch of top siders, and canvas deck shoes/sneakers. They also carried a good assortment of Helly Hanson apparel (preferred jackets, floatation devices), but not now. Its either their brand or Gill, or Columbia (which you can easily get at Academy cheaper). This company is based in California so its all starting to add up. I went in there the other day and the sandal dept has eclipsed the deck shoe section. Well, that's just dandy if you're a drugstore mariner, or wear sandals in great weather. Get out in some freezing swells, and have to push a skiff in sandy water, with crill nipping at your feet, or gutting a sea creature and having partially digested slime spill out. Then you'll see how useful those sandals are. I'll go to the Sperry outlet or get some Brooks Brothers canvases the BB held up nicely. read more

I'm done with West Marine. They had a store at I-45 & FM 1960. I went there today to buy a number of items only to find out the store moved to Kemah over 45 miles away. Way to go West Marine, you guys are dumber that a box of rocks if you think I'm going to drive that far just to do business with you. From now on I'll buy from Bass Pro Shops or Cabelas. read more
