Do yourself and your children a favor and find another practice. The fact I bothered with taking my kids here for as long as I did is my biggest regret. My kid is having an asthma attack after being told for years he didn't have asthma and it was just allergies. He was taken off his maintenance inhaler because he was told it wouldn't be effective anymore if he ever needed it. She loves her patients like they are her own and goes above and beyond for them always. she makes you feel comfortable and listens to you always. You never feel like she is in a rush and she makes sure that you are comfortable and had all your questions answered before you leave. The wait times can be long but the care is top notch. As the parent of a sick baby with RSV that they fit into the schedule multiple times that week, I appreciate how they try to make time for all their patients. Not only did they fit her in for multiple checkups during that scary week the baby had RSV, they checked in over the weekend as well. The wait can be frustrating but I just plan to be there for an hour. I wouldn't trade the care we get to have faster appointments. We have three kids five and under that go there. read more

I have taken my son to Dr Berger for his last few check ups. She is always so kind and great with him when he gets fussy. She is always sending us home with information outside of what we discuss during the visit. The nurses that work there are just as kind. My only complaint is that I wish they did bloodwork in house rather than sending you somewhere. It's just more convenient to get everything done at one place at the same time. Some of the parents that take their kids here lack manners. They changed their policy and started charging $5 administration fee annually for when you need your shot records or to refill prescriptions. However, they can't bother to look up whether a vision exam for a routine checkup is covered by your insurance. Thus, the vision test is optional unless you sign a waiver to pay the $45 vision test cost if your insurance doesn't cover it. Many parents may be missing out on preventative services. My opinion of this practice has drastically changed! Hand down the worst experience in a Pediatricians office EVER (5 kids ranging from ages 21- 6)! The Practice Manager should approach all invested partners and demand etiquette and cross cultural sensitivity training immediately. Horrible front office staff. I called them to make an appointment for my baby's birth to ensure I will have the on-call pediatrician there. They wouldn't even check if their clinic is in-network for my insurance. I asked her politely to check if my insurance is in-network but she flat out refused. The lady gave me an insane amount of attitude and was very unprofessional. I was hoping to make this clinic my baby's permanent doctors office but I will most definitely be going somewhere else. The last thing i need is to constantly be fighting with the front office staff and dealing with their attitudes all while I'm giving them my money. HARD PASS!! read more

The physicians and staff at West Plano Pediatrics do not value or respect their patients and parents. The staff has disrespected us more times than I can count and this behavior is known and tolerated. A nurse even had the audacity to criticize our parenting in a haughty and condescending tone. The quality of care is poor and your child is a number on a chart. Physicians are uninformed, methods are outdated and the persistent overuse of antibiotics in infants and young children at this facility is dangerous. They are never prompt. We have been going here for 13 years now and the wait times have almost tripled. The longest we have waited for the doctor to come in is 2 hours. That wasn't even during COVID that we had to wait that long. I do understand things happen but for us to wait that long when we have other appointments and things to do is just wrong. It's really bad when the kids are ready to leave after just 30 minutes of waiting in the room. The office should learn how to schedule appointments for faster turnaround, not back to back on top of each other. read more

Dr. Adam's it is the most caring and kind doctor I have ever seen. She genuinely cares about her patients. She called several times to ck on my daughter and find the right specialist , meds and solution for her. She always follow up with us and call back to see how she is doing. read more

We recently went in for my daughters 18 month check up. While there I had a question about the burn on my arm.. I was just expecting some advice. Instead, she cleaned it and bandaged it up! Over the years that we have been with West Plano Pediatrics, we have gotten to know the doctors, nurses, and office staff. I've never had a problem with appointment time or billing/insurance which is a big relief! Dr. Leon is thorough, patient and kind and we always leave feeling we have received great care. With two boys, one age 10 and the other 2, we are, unfortunately, fairly frequent customers of WPP. We have not, as of yet, had any difficulty in getting appointments set at convenient times for well visits, nor have sick visits been too much of an issue. Yes, there have been some occasions that involved long waits in the back waiting for the doctor after being taken back, but that is to be expected during the sick visit time blocks. Each of the doctors have their taken care to spend enough time with the kids and my wife and I when issues arise to ensure the proper care is given. For Saturday morning visits, WPP has an agreement with another pediatric practice that is only one floor away, so those visits are not too bad either. read more

Had an appointment to have a small skin tag removed for me daughter. I explained what I was coming in for and they said it would be a sick visit but that it can be done. I was charged $115 that the front desk said was towards my deductible, that didn't seem right but I needed this done. Spent 5 minutes to be told the doctor can't do it and I would need to go to the dermatologist. When I called my insurance they said that I was responsible for 70% but did not have to meet deductible. The insurance called the office and Yolanda said that she told me it would be a flat fee of $115 for all sick visits and that it was also a sign on the door that says that. That is a lie. I will be requesting a refund for my money once the claim hits. I will not be paying $115 for a 5 minute conversation. read more

My husband and I love Dr. Leon. She is down-to-earth, easy to talk to and is very knowledgeable. Being first time parents we have so many questions and concerns and we can always ask her them without feeling like they are silly or dumb. The nurses are also very good and kind at all of our appointments so far. They can fit us in for an appointment at a moments notice and are open in the morning on Saturdays which is a huge plus if our son gets sick at the end of the week. I cannot recommend this office and especially Dr. Leon as a pediatrician enough. So thankful we chose her as the doctor for our son. read more

My children have been patients of Dr. Laurie Berger for 3 years now. She is excellent at patient care and listening to parents' concerns. She's never judgmental or opinionated, but listens exceptionally well and responds to your needs with genuine care and concern. I'm never hesitant to bring up any questions with her because I know she's always thoughtful and interested in meeting our needs. Her knowledge, expertise, and kindness are one of kind. The nurses there are wonderful too. We usually have April, and she's fabulous. Excellent in giving shots too, but we've also had two other nurses, Rachel and a male nurse, both excellent and gentle with children. just wonderful on vaccine days. Dr. Mix is great too, she saw our son in the hospital after birth and then another time for an office visit. All the staff give quality care. read more

We switched to West Plano Pediatrics about a year ago--having been a number of other places first. Our daughter (who is 8 ) had some ongoing issues since she was a baby. By the time she was 7, she had been tested for (what seemed to me) everything under the sun, and we were no better off than when we started. I met Dr. Leon, and liked her immediately-- so I decided to risk another pediatrician switch. I'm so glad I did!!! Dr. Leon (and her partners) have been gentle, and kind, and persistent. By some miracle, they have stayed engaged long enough to help us get to the root of the problem-- "problems" I should say, since there was more than one thing going on in our case-- and my daughter is doing so much better now! We now know what we need to do to keep her functioning well. And I must say, after 7 years of struggle, that is a sweet gift!!!! Not sure what to say about the front-office staff. We had no trouble getting in. My suggestion (one stranger to another) is-- should you have problems, hitch up your knickers and persevere. Because on the other side of that waiting room wall are some wonderful doctors who truly care--and who are worth going to a little trouble to see. A lot of trouble in our case :) read more

Let me preface this review is in regard to the front office staff only because that is as far as I got. I wished I read Sharon B.'s review prior to wasting my time too. I sympathize as my experience in attempting to make an appointment for my child was handled in a pathetic manner as well. I worked in dental and medical practices for years and would have been fired for treating any new or established patient or their family members in the manner I was handled, unless perhaps the doctor was not accepting new patients. My daughter was diagnosed with MRSA eight years ago when I took her to after hours pediatric clinic in Frisco for abcess on her leg thinking it might be brown recluse bite. Thankfully the physician was familiar with MRSA (I was not) and requested a culture to confirm his suspicions. My daughter's regular pediatrician saw her several times in prior year and felt it was bug bites and I could take her to dermatologist if I wanted to look into "bites" further. She was prescribed appropriate antibiotic clearing her active infection up very quickly. Since then we have successfully treated any activity occuring on her legs at home. Until now this has not been a problem. Her former pediatrician is no longer practicing and I prefer she get treatment with a doctor who is familiar with the infection. I have been searching online for MRSA treatment Plano and West Plano Pediatric has been only pediatric office in my neck of the woods. On their website I requested an appointment as it was already after 4:30pm where it stated they would attempt to contact me within a half business day. On the second day I contacted the office myself explaining I was still awaiting a response from my appointment request made from their website. I was asked three times who I sent the email to, each time explaining I had not made not of any name when I put our information in their request appointment format. I established my child was a new patient, her pediatrician retired and yes I had BCBS PPO coverage listed on their plans. The office personnel informed me they must have former medical records and I would need to a copy of the insurance card for verification of benefits. I told her records should not be a problem and could I scan/email insurance card to office? From this point forward I might as well have been speaking to a wall. She repeated "they must have medical records." I restated this was no problem and asked if I could get my child an appointment? "We must have medical records." Once again I acknowledged I could get records for them but was I not able to schedule an appointment? You can guess the response I got. The I tell her my child has an active MRSA infection and was complaining of pain from outbreaks and she needs to be seen. She gives same response. I asked if they were accepting new patients because she was not giving the impression the office was interested in treating my child. She said they were seeing new patients but...medical records. I would say she stated the medical record bit no less than ten times in our call of less than ten minutes. It was as if I spoke to a robot. I thanked her for her "help" but had decided to find another physician who would actually schedule an appointment for my child with an active contagious infection/pain. If it were my practice, I would not tolerate this from staff members. If the doctors are aware of it, they must be busy enough to not be concerned about losing new patients in this manner. But I understand often they have no idea this takes place by their own employees in which case it is like stealing from your employer from my perspective. Appreciate a space to put this out there. Now I am off to try to find a doctor for my child. Feel free to let me know of one in Plano. read more

I feel very sorry for what happened to the other two ladies. However, I never have any problems with the front desk. My daughters are 11 and 8 and they have been with West Plano Pediatrics since they were born. The front desk staff are always helpful and prompt. My daughters have been attended by Dr. Leon, but throughout the years we also met the other doctors in the group. They are all patient and knowledgeable. I couldn't even get in for my child to see a doctor. Therefore, my review is strictly on the front office staff. I had moved from out of state and was trying to obtain an appointment for my daughter. I called to make sure they were an in-network provider. They wouldn't even take my information without all medical records, not just immunizations, being transferred. I had to go up the chain just to allow the immunizations be sent until I had our first visit. I show up and after a 30 minute wait, I'm told that my insurance is out of network and I'd have to pay out of pocket for today's visit. I had called and provided all my insurance information in advance and they waited till I took off from work and my child took off from school to tell me this? Who would pay out of pocket for a visit when you pay hundreds a month for insurance? I spoke to the office manager, Helen, to tell her my dissatisfaction with their level of competence. She basically said that there are some types of Aetna that they do not take and that was that. No apologies for the inconvenience or acknowledgment of the grave mistake their office made. I asked for all my records and left. When I arrived home, I called Aetna only to find out they were an in-network provider. I had Aetna call them to understand the extent of their mistake. All those hours, wasted time and we never saw a doctor. We will go elsewhere. read more

The front staff has very POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE skills. Our Pediatrician, Dr. M was wonderful. My daughter and I stopped in for the Flumist and for other services in Jan. 2014. The office manager was extremely rude and offered the most ridiculous explanation for why she could not assist. I asked to speak with Dr. M and was told she was not there that day. I sent an email and regular mail to the clinic addressed to the Dr. and there have been no responses to date. While our pediatrician was wonderful, and we would have loved to stay with her, my kids and I now see a different pediatrician in a different facility because several attempts were made to speak to Dr. M, but her front office staff would not pass along my messages. read more
