You'll find a great deal on avocados from Mexico priced at 3 for $2.50 and a regular deal on bananas at $0.59/lb. Incidentally, most bananas are not local unless you live within 20 degrees of either side of the equator. You'll also find maple syrup from New York which, as you may know, is the source of some of the finest maple syrup on the planet. RFM also sells plenty of Amish Wedding foods. AW has had some labeling issues in the past, leaving out ingredients like salt or sugar on a couple of products, but the FDA publicly shamed them in 2010 so it's possible that they've improved their ingredient labeling process. Don't hate. Just be aware. Overall, the produce is in great shape. It's fresh and there is a relatively large selection. There are meats, cheeses and eggs here as well. You can get some sugary drinks too, like Nehi, Cheerwine, Fanta, and Jarritos. They even sell Pepsi. Wide variety of products and many are reasonably priced. Anyway, it's refreshing to see a farmer's market close to a military base so that soldiers can fuel up their machines with some healthy things rather than junk food and Americanized Asian. It's not perfect, but for the location, it's one of the best markets in the area.

Perilla (Perilla frutescens) is an aromatic herb from the mint family, known by many names like shiso, beefsteak plant, and Chinese basil, and is popular in Asian cuisine for its distinct flavor. I found that an elderberry vendor was here (and said they were each week) along with a micro greens farmer made this very helpful and a realistic alternative to the raleigh farmers market for those of us on this side of the triangle. Honey farmer (harvester?) was also there and the honey was really good. Fruits and vegetables along with some craft people were also there. I really recommend this as an addition to the normal shopping as it seems to be a reliable place to get food for the house.

This is Triple L Farms roadside stand where they sell all the goods grown on their nearby farm…read more It's a tent type canopy on the corner of Hwy 5 & Linden Rd in Aberdeen, NC just past the Food Lion shopping center. Today we stopped & scored some amazingly awesome strawberries that had just been picked from the field, they were unloading baskets of these sweet babies right out of the back of a pick-up truck while we were standing there, still had dew on'em from just being freshly picked from the berry patch. These are some very clean, nice looking berries, not dirty or dusty like some you find at farms or roadside stands and they taste amazing, nothing like a fresh picked sweet strawberry...Get by here early if you want berries, they start selling at 9:30am & close when they sell out for the day & do it all over again the next day until the season is over. Today they just had strawberries & tomatoes, but in a few weeks there will be a whole bunch of other items up for grabs once pockin' time gets here.
