We love living at West! Killer views and thoughtful/luxurious amenities. When youre living in a building of many people you will always run into some sort of issue. In my experience the leasing office has always done their best to resolve them. One thing that is not disclosed is that there is low income housing in the building. I believe they didnt want to mention this as its not exactly a selling point but honestly most people who live in the building are extremely respectful and responsible. So far this is the best place we have lived in downtown. To add, parking is secure and easily accessible! read more

This place is a perfect blend of sleek design and smart, functional spaces. West stands proudly among San Diego's skyline, but what really caught my eye were the huge windows that practically blur the line between indoors and outdoors--exactly what San Diego living is all about. Claire was amazing--patient, flexible, and made me feel like a VIP. She showed me a few units within my budget, both of which were full of sunlight and killer views. We also explored the top-notch amenities: meeting rooms, cozy study areas, a rooftop park (perfect for sunset yoga), and a gym that might actually motivate me to work out. Oh, and the pool? I came here for the art, for what I saw is commissioned by the city of San Diego and, well, I am an artist myself and could not resist to check it out. Plus another #matchingwiththewalls situation for me (I do love to match with the walls, even better when just by pure coincidence!). Well this building is super spectacular, from the public use mini park with nicely manicures trees to the super cool lobby with all those (real!) books that reach the ceiling! So much design and good taste in here. Anyways, accolades to the ceiling sculpture/light structure in the lobby but my heart goes to the mural in the multipurpose room in the making. Maybe will be a store, maybe office space...as the Italians say 'chi lo sà'. I just have to say that this pink while and white with a touch of yellow mural made me so happy to look at I felt for a moment I was the painter behind . I just love and this review goes mostly to the artist (and also to the awesome security guy with the fantastic smile and good manners). I have now to visualize a cool job in one of the offices here. Some floors are for offices, so for living. I am free for invitations to watch sunset from the rooftop! read more

Don't really know where to start... My husband and I have been touring apartment buildings in the downtown area for 3 weeks now. On our first day of exploring, we randomly found The West. We saw that the leasing office was open and figured - why not? Upon walking into the building we were stunned by how clean and secure the building felt. We walked into the leasing office and were immediately greeted by Korey. She was incredibly warm, authentic and professional. She gave us an amazing tour of the building and we were absolutely blown away by the amenities they offered. Parking? No problem. Pets? They will be spoiled little fur babies. Gym? Wow. Rooftop pool/jacuzzi and additional community spaces? BLOWN AWAY. All of the units we toured were stunning. Fantastic views all around with brand new appliances. Granted, it IS a new building, but you can still tell that it is overall well managed. We also had to take note of the fact that every resident we happened to meet were very quick to go out of their way & express their gratitude for the community they were part of, let alone how well this building was maintained. You could also tell that they were EXTREMELY happy with the management team. This must be too good to be true. Over the following weeks we toured around 10 other buildings in the area. Some great, some not so great. We were considering another building closer to the gaslamp district, but something kept pulling us back to The West. Luckily, we took the leap of faith and came back for a second tour. This is when we realized it was our dream building! We attempted to apply online. Unfortunately there were some glitches with the application process - definitely a tech issue. But that was no problem at all! Korey was responding quickly to our messages and calls, despite being the only one working that day. Because we were so eager to secure the unit we wanted, we decided to drive down and apply in person. She troubleshooted all of the minor issues (again - all understandable - technology is weird) and did so with ease! We were so grateful for her class, attentiveness and care. She even went out of her way to take us back to the unit after the process was over. Let's also mention the fact that she is SUPER down to earth. This is rare. I can't express how grateful we are to have met and worked with Korey. We are very excited for The West to be our future home. Give this angel incarnate a raise. She goes above and beyond! read more

The West SD Apartments is a great place to live single or with a family. The community is clean and safe. There are a lot of things to do while at home like: going to the pool, grilling, playing billiards or watch the sunset on the 37th floor. We've had the pleasure to be here just under a month and we already love it here because Parking? BREEZE Elevator? fantastic . Move in day (a really stressful time for all of us ) was also a BREEZE We spent significant time touring other homes of similar caliber but something was always missing, if it wasn't the gym, or the pool that I wasn't absolutely thrilled with. I was looking forward to moving here, but after taking the tour, I decided against it. The staff is amazing, and Korey was very helpful in answering all my questions. However, during the tour, I noticed the smell of marijuana in the halls, which is a big issue for me. I respect what people do in their free time, but I can't stand the smell of it. Additionally, I observed some sketchy individuals in and around the building. After the tour, I was uncertain about moving here, so I did some research. I found out that West is required to provide affordable rentals for low-income individuals. While I understand the need for affordable rent, I believe there should be some rules in place. For instance, access to the gym and clubhouse should come with an additional fee for those who qualify for low-income housing, especially since they are paying only a third of what non-qualifying residents pay. As someone who grew up in low-income areas and worked hard to put myself through college for a chance at social mobility, this situation is very disheartening. read more
