At the West Warwick Civic Center today they're having a Christmas crafts people sale. There are lots of Christmas crafts and candles. There are books and jewelry and pottery and glass. Went to a holiday gift market here recently. It was my first visit and had not idea what the West Warwick Civic Center was like. Seems it's an indoor track and as it is very close to the high school, I would think is used by the students for practice and meets (?). On the day I went, the track was covered by tables full of holiday gifts. Hand made wreathes, books, organic soaps, soy candles, hot sauce, ornaments, and so on. A few 'big box' vendors were there as well such as the ever present 'sign up to win free windows' and the like. All in all it was a good selection and a very nice community event. There is plenty of free parking, but the gps map I was using seemed a bit confused on how to get me here. First it brought me past the high school, but when I turned around, it brought me past the Civic Center. It seemed to think the parking lot was a road. Just FYI if you are using an on line map to get here. I have not dealt with whomever handles the booking for the venue, and do not know about the fees and limitation on usage, but the wide open space was good for the holiday market and would probably be a good location for a winter farmers market as well as sporting events. There is a seating area above the track up a staircase just inside the doors with an ATM and vending machine. read more
