On every table, there was also pickled pepper, which was very spicy. The food was ok, it came with a large portion. The next day, however, I tried Westend Best Doner and realized how much I was led astray. Westend's doner kebap was amazing and showed me all that the doner kebap can be. The chicken was incredibly juicy, the sauces were flavorful and well seasoned with enough spice, and the veggies balanced the meat and sauce perfectly. And the bun. Wow, the bun. Freshly made with a crunchy exterior, yet a warm, soft interior. I would come back just to eat the bun itself. Not only was the food great, but service was quick, and very friendly. If I had more time in Munich, I would have gone out of my way to come back here again. After being turned down by nearby Thai place, Ruen Thai, because I was a party of "one", I decided to go to this place. I am glad I came here and tried their Falafel plate. The staff was very friendly and helpful despite the fact that I do not speak German language. Casual place, nothing fancy but food makes up for lack of ambience. Mostly people come and order "take outs" rather than dining-in. I chose to dine-in instead and enjoyed my Falafel plate and the desert, Baklava. Indeed, this is the Westend's BEST DÖNER! 1) They make the pide bread for the döner fresh, and that deliciousness is a force to be reckoned with! Fresh and hot from the oven with two kinds of toasted sesame seeds turn even hardcore Dürum fans into Kebapgenießer. 2) TOPPINGS HEAVEN. Every topping here has received a little extra TLC from the powers-that-be to make them extra tasty. Onions? Marinated and seasoned. Lettuce? Replaced by an actual salad mix. Red cabbage? Infused with crack cocaine, as far as I can tell. 3) WORLD'S CREAMIEST SHEEP'S CHEESE. The cheese here is like dairy satin for the palate. The customer service is really friendly here. One of the guys is nice and jokey, the other is a little more reserved but still very customer-oriented. They offer a really comfortable dining room to sit down and enjoy one's döner feast. We've sampled many doner stands and restaurants all over Munich (and other towns in Germany). This place does live up to its name as "Best" in every way. To begin, the service was super friendly and helpful. They were continually baking the pitas as customers were ordering, providing that toasted, fresh out-of-the oven experience. The meat was flavorful and moist, though still crispy on the edges as all doner lovers expect. The vegetables were fresh and seasoned expertly with spices and vinegars. The sauces were too amazing to find the right adjectives. I recommend the Scharf (spicy). Whatever type of cheese they use brings together, and rounds out all of the wonderful flavors that you experience when you eat the "Best" doner you've ever had. Also, they're pretty well priced as an added bonus. We love trying new Doner places when visiting Munich, but probably won't after eating here. read more
