Incompetent provider. Malicious person. Arrogant yet inept. Self-righteousness overrides any…read moreethical compunction that might lie buried. Although he works with WKU Athletics, there's no one I've spoken to at Western (my employer) who thinks well of him. Of the 4 other orthopaedic surgeons I've seen, all have been compassionate, educational, listeners who are skilled in their occupations. Until this person - Dr. God. I wish zero stars was a viable rating. I scheduled with him for a simple, common knee aspiration - "water on the knee". I have had it done 5 times in the past. It a simple, quick pain-free procedure. I had an appt on Monday but left without the aspiration. He came in after looking at the xray and suggested a steroid pack and ice for 20 minutes 6x a day. I told him I usually got the fluid removed and pulled up my pants legs to show him my actual knees. He glanced at them and said he saw no excess fluid. Later that night, I decided I really wanted immediate relief in my knee rather that taking a systemic steroid regimen for a localized problem. Tuesday morning, I went to the practice's walk-in clinic to see about having just any intern or other doctor available to do the extraction. But I was told I needed to schedule with Cha again. Wednesday, when he came into the small exam room, where I was standing, he said "hey", stood a foot from me and stared me down. I broke the uncomfortable silence by saying "how are ya" and telling him I decided I wanted the aspiration. He did not sanitize the area, sprayed a freeze spray for a 2 second count which, evidently, had no effect and stuck the 4 inch needle in. I tried to endure the pain but things got elevated fast b/c it hurt quite a bit, I could feel every jab he made. He insisted there was nothing coming out (which, I believe, was because he intentionally inserted the needle incorrectly and never pulled the syringe plunger back) as he pinched the pocket of fluid and kept jabbing the needle against my patella bone. He told me, "I do this all the time." I finally had him take it out when I realized the situation wasn't going to get better. He seemed intent on causing me physical pain and definitely not extracting any fluid in order to prove me wrong. Either that was his motive, or he can't successful perform the most basic procedure learned early in ortho training. Today, Friday, I went to another orthopedic surgeon and again easily, painlessly had 25 cc of synovial fluid removed from my knee. Malempati broke his hippocratic oath to cause no harm. I didn't nothing to offend the man. I believe, though, he intentionally caused me pain to punish me. He actively engaged in both malpractice and malfeasance in my case. Doubtfully the first time he's done this.

Dr. Malempati is the best. I highly recommend him he did my ACL reconstruction surgery.read more

I knew something was wrong and insisted on a referral to a spinal surgeon. I did my own research and found Dr. Shawn Adams in Louisville. Within 15 minutes of meeting me, he questioned the EMG results and identified a C7 compression that required surgery. He listened, reviewed my imaging, and gave me real answers. I wouldn't send anyone to WKONA. If you're in pain and being dismissed, keep pushing. You deserve better.

At 905am Elizabeth called to tell me that my insurance had lapsed a couple of days before and that the Dr. Portion of the bill would be $6,589. due on arrival, plus whatever the Surgery center bills and plus the anesthesiology bills. "They will let you know before the procedure". Keep in mind that I am already halfway to the surgery. I told her "I can't pay that kind of money" to which Elizabeth replied, "Oh, well then we will have to cancel the surgery". Needless to say, at that point I had to turn around and go back home without the surgery. Oh, by the way, I called my insurance and they told me that my coverage had not lapsed and was still in full force. While Dr. Barlow is an excellent doctor, I can't handle this crazy Elizabeth, the WKONA appointment scheduler.

Will not be spoken to like a child and talked over when the patient is who pays his salary. Would not recommend anyone see this man. He is the rudest most pathetic physician I have ever encountered. Lucky for him we were in utter shock that he would act that way toward a patient that has an appointment. Seems to me if he didn't want to see him as a patient he should have had it notated on his account to save everyone the time. We now have to make appt with another provider weeks out and 2 hrs away. My husband is in pain and needed to be treated , But we will never step foot in any of the GGC ortho offices again due to the actions of that man. Total disgrace to GGC.

She was told by the nurse to get on a high table & that she wouldn't be able to help much. I got her on the table and a pain struck her so she reached for my arm & the nurse accused her of trying to hit her! My friend is a registered nurse herself & very compassionate toward others. She told Dr. Richards & he didn't even apologize for the incident. He didn't help her off the table either. He didn't even prescribe anything for her pain so she had another miserable, sleepless night. It was unfortunate that Dr. Fee wasn't available that day. Things would have been much different. I don't know how Dr. Richards has any patients at all.

Let me start off by saying Dr. Burch is a great doctor. He is knowledgeable, informative, and…read morehonest. If you can stomach the way the health industry is currently, then by all means go to him as your dr. However, in my 27 yrs of hospital care (and I've practically lived in them as a very accident prone person), I've never been treated more poorly by a hospital staff. In general, the nurses who work under him are anything but cheerful and happy to be there. You'll be lucky to see one smile. But in particular, 5 days after my surgery, I woke up one morning to such an excruciating pain. I had just run out of pain medications and luckily had my wife's old Percocet pills. The pain wouldn't stop and I was in tears, biting my pillow to try and deal with it. I called WKONA and listened through 5 different submenus to get a line to Burch's staff to "ask a question" (according to the submenu choice). I was rudely received by his receptionist. I began describing my situation, fighting back tears and obviously distressed. She responded coldly, "I need your name first." I gave her my information, and she proceeds to tell me off saying next time I should listen to all the menu options before selecting and that I needed to talk to the Medication line to ask for a new script, "but I'll transfer you over this time." Thanks lady. Once I was transferred, I heard a machine request 10 different pieces of information in order to order more pain medication. I hung up... I wanted to talk to my doctor or a nurse who could help, not endless machines. So my wife called back the receptionist hoping to gain some sympathy and ground. None was found.... The woman was equally rude to my wife, not providing clear answers to questions as simple as "how often do they check the machine for submitted script requests?" if it weren't for the saving grace that we personally knew a nurse who does pre-op there, we would have had to suck it up, but we got an early afternoon appt with the doctor through her. In that appointment, I explained the morning situation to him, of the unprofessionalism and lack of sympathy. His response was not apologetic, but more like "yeah that'll happen." To make the situation worse, the reason I had so much pain was because the bandages were tight and my foot began to swell. All that needed to happen was to take the boot off, loosen the wrappings and put ice on it, but we were told after surgery to never take the boot off for the first week, so my foot needed to swell and had no room to do so, so every square inch was being forced into a small space. No wonder I hurt so bad. Not only did this staff set me up for this pain through misinformation, but they were virtually unresponsive when I needed them most. The ONLY reason this has 2 stars is because the surgical work was very good.
