Nice course but unfortunately when you get to hole 10 and there are 3 groups still waiting to tee off...it's very frustrating! They tell you at the start 2 hours for 9 holes, max 2.5 hours. We ended up quitting! No ranger, just a young chickie sitting in the Pro Shop. She just shrugged her shoulders! Very disappointed! read more

Not handicap friendly! When asked about handicap flags the starter only response is to stay 30 feet from the greens. If he see's you violate this he will tell you to take your disrespecting ass some place else and don't come back, he will then drive out on the course to watch you! OK, chump, SEE YA! Have golfed here a few times over the past year or so. I found the course to be in really nice condition. Everyone I encountered was very friendly and helpful. Very scenic course, challenging but not too difficult. After golfing many courses west of the city, I find myself coming back here for the friendly staff and quality of the course. read more

Extremely rude people work there. It's always been the case though. Years ago when my kids took lessons there, employees treated you like crap. I don't know why my company agreed to have a corporate golf event here. One guy yelled at my company President ( who was paying for the event), that he must start on the back nine, not the front nine! It was incredible to see this in action. This is a really great golf course. It is difficult though. There is a lot of water and a lot of sand. However if you make the fairway you are pretty much guaranteed a flat lie, which is nice. The condition of the course is top notch. The fairways are very well maintained and the rough is really easy to hit out of. Even when I missed the fairway my lie wasn't that bad. Except, of course, when I went in to the creek behind #14 green. The clubhouse is pretty nice too. There is a nice small bar downstairs and a larger one upstairs. I'm assuming the upstairs bar is mostly open for events and outings. The driving range is really nice too. There are practice target flags at various distances to help you practice from any distance. I would play here any time. read more

I forgot what a fun course this is. Long and wide open. The staff is extremely friendly and we had one of the best beer cart ladies ever!!

I've been here for wedding receptions so I can only speak about that. The venue seems pretty decent - usually is decorated pretty nicely for the wedding receptions I've been at. The catering is so-so. I believe both times the couples used Saz's - and both times I was not impressed with the food. I've had better food at other wedding receptions. The first time I was there, it took me a minute to find the bathroom because it's down some stairs and down a random hallway but I eventually found it. I would recommend this place if having a wedding reception at a country club is your thing but nothing about this place made me love it read more

Not for kids...the golf pro yelled at me because I brought my 5 yo son along to learn the game. Said he has to pay to ride along even though I asked the pro shop abs starter if it was ok. The golf pro Garett or Gary (?) is a power tripper and likes to yell at people in front of kids. Everyone else was great to us, but that guy needs significant coaching in customer service. read more

Not worth the $35 for 9 holes with cart. In a swampy area, holes are packed together. One step up from Pewaukee Golf Course. Go to The Nag, 6 minutes away from WL and $27.50 for 9 with cart for a much better course. read more

Absolutely love this course Great layout with some risk reward holes for the average golfer. Owners make the necessary investments to continuously improve the course year after year. Staff is awesome and the pro has helped to shave 6 strokes off of my handicap this year. Winning! read more

This review is for the brides out there considering having their reception here... Everything was great until a few days before. The food was not what we had picked out. It was good, but not what we were expecting. This probably could have been avoided if they answered my food questions earlier than 2 days before, when I had been asking for weeks. (Then there was a huge fight over what we had ordered vs. what we were paying for... not something a bride wants to deal with 2 days before). So, our New York strip was actually roast beef. When we got the bar bill, the prices were significantly higher than what we had discussed. But, we had nothing in writing to dispute it. We never received an itemized bill for anything. Here's the worst part though: They told us, go ahead and leave everything, don't worry about a thing, and come pick everything up Sunday morning. We did just that, thinking our things would be stored safely. We came back on Sunday to discover that most of our cards with monetary gifts had been stolen. The box was not tampered with and there was only a small opening, so someone had to have stood there and picked the cards out one by one, so clearly it did not happen during the reception. We thought, hey, you have security cameras! Just check those! Turns out, those are fake. I spoke with the owner of Western Lakes and he basically chastised me, telling me, I can't believe the person you put in charge of watching the card box didn't watch it. Really? Clearly I didn't think to have a designated person and you're just going to be a jerk right now? All they kept saying is that they aren't responsible for lost or stolen items and did nothing to help. And unfortunately, all I had was the coordinator's word against mine on whether or not we were told we could leave everything. Moral of the story: GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING. Seriously, every single thing. read more
