For the last twelve months, all I've heard out of my boyfriend's mouth is 'Oh, I can't wait to go have another Westernport Parma'. I am pleased to announced that he had it again and it didn't disappointed. I'm displeased to announce that he has started going on about how good it's going to be to get another one in January 2016 *groan* I love this pub. It really caters to everyone with it's large menu, varied dining areas and huge selection of drinks from the bar. There are big name acts that roll through town to play gigs to entertain the older crowd, and there is a small play centre to entertain the youngest in the crowd. There is inside seating and outside seating (with heaters for the colder months). The staff are friendly and really welcoming to the tourists, which might not be surprising for most but I've stepped into some small town pubs who want nothing to do with you if you're not a local. Definitely not the case here. The dining room caters to large and small groups but it's always best to book ahead for groups larger than 6 so that you can get your hands on the huge table designed to fit roughly 20. Enjoy! Every now and then you find a pub in a small town that is an absolute gem. The Westernport is in such a great location on the waterfront in San Remo and it's surprisingly large. There's a huge bistro offering a generous menu. You'll pay around $25 for a meal but you'll get a big serving plated beautiful and the food is delicious. The boys in our group all got the HUGE Westernport parma and the girls had to listen to their groans of delight as they polished them off. I opted for the salt & pepper calamari because I saw it being plated up as I was waiting to order and it looked divine. And it wasn't just presented beautifully, it was SO tasty. Light and fresh, no chewy or stringy bits, and just like the parma the serving was so generous I couldn't finish it. There's a large bar and beer garden too. Pints are about $10 and spirits are $8.50. And bands play every Saturday night including big names such as The Beautiful Girls and 360. If you're heading to Phillip Island for a weekend away I definitely recommend trying the Westernport for lunch or dinner and admiring the scenery. read more

When you're a venue hosting a sold-out gig you'd probably want to move all of the tables and chairs out of the way of the crowd, right? Apparently not at the Westernport Hotel. It didn't turn out to be such a bad thing for us really, since it meant there was a nice little empty gap in front of us as we stood against the table on the edge of the dance floor. Unfortunately, it wasn't so good for the dozen or so people who couldn't see the table in the darkened room and walked right into it. Apart from weird table locations, this seems to be a pretty cool pub. The front bar was packed before the band came on, with lots of young locals scrambling for the few chairs available and crowding around the pool table. The line for the bar seemed to always be long, but once you go into the back area of the bar where the bands play it was much easier to get a drink. The stage area was small, but the room is quite long so it always seemed like you had a bit of room to watch from. It looked like there were a couple of tables set up towards the back and couches off to either side for anyone wanting to take a seat too. All in all, not a bad venue to see a band even if the young crowd seemed to at times be more interested in talking rather than paying attention to what was happening up on stage. read more

We are totally and utterly disgusted with the food and service and just about everything this place has to offer. For starters the drinks and food are well overpriced for a pup. Seccondly after waiting over an hour for our food (because apparently we told them to put our order on hold) they brought out a tray of oysters that were still alive just about. Then slowly but shorly our meals arrived on the table. The parmas were dry and had no flavour...maybe a masheti might have cut through it which was served with homebrand vegies straight out of a bag and straight onto the plate by passing the chef. The Beef Cheeks were as tough as a tree trunk and under cooked...i guessed the chef was absent at this point perhaps but then my caesar salad came which after specifically asking for no anchovies they put them anyway do i took them back and requested a new one to which 15 minutes later came and they added chicken in it...i thought okay maybe they can get some credit back but low and behold, the chicken was as dry as the nullabor plains and once u shifted it away and the couple of lettuce leaves out the way i found the sunken treasures of the old fishy tasting lettuce and soggy croutons from the previous salad i returned...FERAL So we went to play some pool on the pool tables but got abit confused when the pools balls were missing and replaced with white cue balls....erm after the first break we gave up... The only good thing about this place is we noticed the chinese restaurant next door which we will be trying tomorrow night Sorry but a little revamping would go a long long way with this place and i would recommend it to my brittish bulldog which eats anything. read more
