The store is a bit pricey, but the items they sell are pretty unique and some items I've never seen before. The store also is connected to a cafe located in the back. I didn't check out the cafe but it looked like a great place to have a cup of tea and cake after braving te cold breeze of the ocean. The store is near the train station so it's great to go shopping here then head home (if you don't live in the area and have to catch the train). I like this store, but the only thing is... We saw the signs for the cafe from the road but, looking in the windows, we just saw the gift shop. After venturing inside, we found the adorable cafe tucked away between the gift shop and the gallery, with cute tables arranged around a large set of cake stands under a lovely atrium with skylights. We really enjoyed the soup of the day and paninis, and also treated ourselves to a delicious citrus poppyseed cake. There were many women interchangeably serving, taking orders, and attending to the tables, and we had a lovely lunch here. The bathrooms were also quirky and nice--the women's had nice soap that can also be purchased from the shop, and although the men's had basic soap it had a great toilet seat with fish designs! These quirky touches were really fun and endearing. I would highly recommend the Orangery Cafe, and we certainly thought it looked like one of the nicest cafes in this cute little town.

Lovely picturesque village. This is one of my Mum's favourite indulgement establishments! I love the Gift shop as it's chic and lots of things to pick and go ohhh! and AHHHH! at!! Cakes are all made by the owner and all fresh! Soups also are delightful on a cold winter's day. French presses come in mild, medium or strong and i always go for strong - keeps me buzzing until i get home! The cafe also do sandwiches and other edibles. When we visited, the gallery had a glass theme, some of the items had me absolutely transfixed with their translation of light into art. Above the gallery is a small cafe, where we tucked into soup and salad. Here is probably where my 4 stars went down to 3 - as when asking what stock the soup used (it was lentil, and here in Scotland, the base is usually ham, not vegetable). The waitress not only looked at me as if I had two heads, but was reluctant to even bother trying to find out until I pretty much had to order her to. As it was, it did have a meat based stock, so I opted for the smoked trout pate and beetroot salad. My salad was lovely, although didn't have a trace of beetroot in it, and the smoked trout pate from Belhaven was excellent, as always. My partner in crime for the day opted for the soup and a homemade cheese scone, which looked delicious. As there was a considerable array of cakes, it felt rude to not check some of them out - going for an oreo-studded rocky road for my friend and a slice of coffee and walnut cake for me. The sponge was lovely and light, but the icing was a bit lacking in flavour and overly sweet. Still, I'd give my left arm to make a sponge like that. Lunch came to about £9 each for food, cake and a drink - not too shabby either. Also even though items were often placed down low I didn't feel at all awkward having a buggy and an enquisitive 7 year old with me. The staff didn't seem fazed!

They also do great soup (which comes with a whopping great hunk of delicious soft bread) and have a selection of sandwiches. The tea room itself is in a sort of wee farmhouse with a lawn and tables out the front. It also has an adjoining gift shop filled with lots of cute home and gifty things, mason jars, note books, decorations, cards (that sorta thing). The staff are lovely and friendly and the price is reasonable. I totally love this little tearoom and have visited on a few occasions. I look forward to many more visits!

This is the most gorgeous little shop I've seen for a long time. Gorgeous greetings cards, unique pieces of jewellery, unusual printed tea towels and pieces of clothing, quirky pieces of furniture. It's a proper Aladdin's cave of vintage, recycled, reinvented loveliness. I bought handfuls of greetings cards and a very cute little pin badge there. But expect to return for many more visits in the near future to hoover up more of their lovely stock. It's a great location, a handful of steps up from Portobello beach. A perfect weekend (or weekday) afternoon's pottering place. Enjoy!

Exhibitions change every few weeks. The building is a hub for creativity, chocked full of artist's studios, Open Studios has already been this year and is a really great opportunity to find out what is happening and St Margaret's House, meet artists, buy crafts, attend taster workshops and have a nosey around all the studios! There are lots of classes and workshops happening here too for both Kids and adults, Yoga, Judo, life drawing, dance, sewing & dressmaking and much more!
