Whenever I have been into this store, service people have been helpful and friendly. They have a great selection of healthy outdoor plants, and I appreciate the convenience of their firewood. I recently purchased a battery-operated lawnmower and weed-eater. I am an older female who hasn't mowed a lawn in decades. I was absolutely clueless and told the store manager as such when I called to share that a battery was missing in the order. He personally delivered the battery and then taught me how to use the tools safely, as well as how/when/why to charge the batteries (yes, it matters). I am so utterly grateful for his kindness that I don't know what to say. These tools would have been useless to me without these lessons. I'll be going back. read more

They're friendly and knowledgeable. This is our Goto hardware store. My wife gets all her garden and Xmas stuff. I get all my tools and advice. Much better than the Big Boxes. The detraction of a star is for online ordering for pickup. They're SLOW. I find that if the products you want are in stock, don't bother ordering and paying for pickup. You're looking at waiting 24 hours. Just get in your car and go get the items. I could have the items I ordered 4 hours ago if I'd just gone and picked them off the shelves. As it is, they haven't readied my items yet. And now I'll have to wait until tomorrow. Very frustrating, when everyone else can have your order picked in 1-2 hours. Just go get it, if it's in stock. They'd rather you did that, too, from a mangers standpoint. read more

I'll be the first to admit I generally go to the bigger box hardware store with orange everywhere, the other I boycott for political reasons but that's another story. Ace is the place when I need some bizarre fastener, a single machine screw or a key made. They tend to be a little pricey on some things that the bigger shops sell a billion of, but they are small, easy to navigate and the people are the same ones that helped me when I went there 17 months ago when I needed one of those doohickeys to fix that thing. read more

This is my first stop before I go to Lowe's. They almost always have what I need, are mostly helpful, and I like the coupons I get in the mail. Most of all I like the excellent fastener selection. They actually have stainless steel, metric nuts and bolts IN STOCK! And the small, but compete tool selection means I can usually find that odd tool I need at odd hours without having to drive to HF or NT. They can be a bit more expensive, however I don't have to waste time driving all around town. read more

I went to a big box store that couldn't find the plumbing piece I needed- at Ace we talked through what repair might work and I paid a measly $1.23 to get just the thing I needed to fix my faucet. Stopped by today for their all plants including succulents 75% off! My son and I replaced flower boxes on either side of our mailbox and it looks fabulous with mostly succulents and some annuals. Great choice as there's no shade at the mailbox and its hot hot hot! The succulents are loving the sun and our mailbox looks great for just $10 total. read more

I've given this place literally dozens of chances to improve and they just haven't. How is it possible the store calls itself the place with the helpful hardware folks? Yet again I wandered throughout the store with not one clerk asking if I needed help. When I gave up and went to find a person myself, the young man seemed unsure about what I needed, yet didn't admit that or offer to get someone with more expertise. I don't expect him to know everything about the products. I do expect them to get help for their customer. It was evident he didn't know what I was talking about because what he showed me didn't work. I left empty-handed. I want to shop local. I want ACE to survive, but if you can't compete with the stellar customer service experience I had yet again at a big box store, then you should be out of business. Went in to buy the whole Sthil power battery lawn set, from lawnmower to blower to edger. Couldn't find a single person who knew anything about them to assist us. The one guy who may have known that worked there answered a brief question and quickly went away. They missed a 1,000 dollar sale that went to Lowes and Kobalt! read more
