My Mercedes C200 broke down whilst on the road. I called the AA, they advised me to take it to a garage. I called few garages close to home and found Westlake. My initial conversation with the manager named Paul gave me the impression that he knew what the problem was and he came accross polite enough. What followed turned out to be a nightmare. It took just over a month to identify the fault which turned out to be a fuel pump. I had to call the garage umtinth number of time to chase progress and was given various excuses for the delays. There was no estimate provided despite saveral request and finally when the bill came the garage charged me nearly £1400 for replacing ignition coil, air flow volume meter, cam shaft sensors, crank shaft sensors none needing replacement and without authorisation. I was told the items were replacing in order to diagnose the fault, i.e. a process of trial and error. I found my wing mirror damaged, car seats soiled, service parts not replaced such as pollen filter, radiator fluid, brake fluid, washer not toped up etc. After a strongly worded letter the garage manager Paul did agreed to reimburse cost of some of the items. I am left wondering what other parts they have not replaced, which I can not visualy access . I found the workmanship shrody and would caution customers to be vigilant about the work done and seek detailed invoice. I fould the credibility of the work done and the invoicing questionable. I suspect the garage seeks to replace parts unnecessarily in order to bolster the final bill. I personally had a very negative experiance and would certainly not recomend this garage to anyone. read more
