3 years in and out of hospitals, this was the preferred one. Okay there's never any parking, and sure, there's always a LOAD of people about this place, but the nursing staff, (and let's face it, they're the ones who drive your recovery) are the most incredible human beings!!! Seriously, hats off to you all!! This is one very busy hospital so if you could, the best time for visitors to find parking would be any time before 1030am and between 3-5pm, then again after 715ish. Unfortunately, these times don't coincide with visiting hours but thankfully, there's a whole range of things you can do to pass the time in this hospital.
There's the recently renovated foodcourt - food ranging from Asian cuisine, to Italian, to roasts and burgers and seafood. There's a yoghurt, nut and gelato bar; two cafes that I know of (there may be others further in) and some decent indoor gardens that get plenty of light.
In fact, a number of areas within the hospital have had facelifts - the emergency department is brand spanking new, they have opened a state of the art maternity wing to the left of the main entrance and their cancer care clinic downstairs had a mini makeover with increased parking for patients - now that's a win !!!
Parking is a little steep here though at $8 for between 1-2 hrs however if you are visiting a patient that has been in for longer than 21 days, you are given a 'free pass'. Oh and as a private patient in a public hospital, you get vouchers for free coffee/tea/cake and $5 discount vouchers for food. read more
