Upon arriving we were told there was a power outage. Had to climb 3 sets of stairs along with my aunt who is 67 years old. The elevator was not working. She was struggling bad at the last set of stairs and felt real bad as we had to eventually walk down the same set later that night. No DJ because of no power. I felt real horrible for the family of the birthday girl as I noticed there was no Music or DJ with back up power. Luckily they hired a live band for music and keep the party afloat. There was a generator but three hours later after party had started. Street parking was available. Food was decent. We left early but I heard power came on after midnight. Very cruel. Super unpleasant experience. Had second hand embarrassment the whole time. I hope the owner did the right thing and reimburse the family in some way or another. read more

We attended a party here with my elderly mom this past weekend and were so disappointed. They were experiencing a power outage and the owners did not have the decency to notify the host prior to the event. My friend who invited us felt so bad because she would have called me earlier to tell me not to come as my mother finds it is extremely difficult to navigate stairs. The venue is on the 3rd floor. The owners had no emergency plan. There was no one lighting the stairway. They put 99 cent battery powered table lights in the stair that were useless. The event started at 6pm and they took more than 3 hours to secure generators. The owners had no regard for the safety of seniors or young children. I cannot believe that owners would be so unprepared for an emergency situation with so many people in attendance. Do not rent this venue. read more

Not a good event venue. Ownership is either uneducated on city rules and regulations or simply values profit over doing things in a safe and legal manner. They hire non-permitted vendors and instruct them to operate dangerously, putting both their patrons and vendors into high risk, life threatening physical harm. Absolutely shameful! It is sad that you have to lie to make others look bad when all I have to do is tell the truth. Your illegal and dangerous business practice was captured on security camera, witnessed by LAPD and has been reported to the proper department with the city. Good luck to you. read more

I rented this venue for my daughter's quinceañera September 20,2025 and had family whoc came from Mexico to be with us and what we went through was a complete nightmare! Our party was supposed to start at 6 pm and we paid an hour extra so we could arrive at 5 pm to make sure everything was in order. Upon arriving we were greeted with the worst possible news! Owner made me aware that there was a power outage in the "surrounding area" (which was not true as all the other businees surrounding the venue had electricity it was just the venue and restaurant connected to the venue) and that she had no clue when the power would be back. Mind you she was aware of this power outage since 10:30 am! Did she alert us of this power outage asap? Did she have some lights available in case the power didn't come back? Did she have any kind of backup plan? The answer to all these questions is a resounding NO! No power meant no elevator, no DJ, no ice-maker machine, no AC, and many other things! We had seniors who had to climb 3 flight of stairs in the dark because of the lack of concern by the owner (one of the guest fell). Her solution was to get cheap lights that barely light anything up and a generator that showed up 3 hours after the event started. Having a big event is stressful enough but try having one with no electricity! Had the owner made us aware of the situation asap, we could have prepared better. We could have postponed the event, bought lights that actually lit up well, and got generators much faster. We would came up with a way better solution than what the owner came up. Instead we were stuck scrambling all night to try make my daughter's big day a success. After requesting a refund owner stated that there was damage to her piano which we never did a walkthrough or pictures of the condition of the piano in the first place, she stated that we had more then the guest count we provided MY guest couldn't even sit down as they tried to stand by any open window or door so how can one say we had over the amount if the majority of chairs were empty as there was NO AC working and extremely hot, owner stated we party til 3a.m when at 1a.m the electricity came up and we were taking our supplies down in the dark before the light came up and we have our GPS which we checked and we were already home in the valley by 3a.m where we live. Unfortunately this is not a venue that I could recommend the parking is horrible can't find any, if the elevators our out then senior guests are not able to go up the steps they have to go home, and just the lack of communication with the owner. read more

Hosted my company's Holiday Party here and it was a delight! My co-worker and I were researching prospective venues and this blew our expectations. It was decorated with simplicity and elegance. Valdas and Lilia were amazing sweet to us. They were understanding of our budget, recommended a place for us to get insurance and answered the millions of questions I had. I probably dropped by the studio 13 times prior to the event and they were welcoming every single time. The day before our party, they even allowed us to store some of our items there so we wouldn't be rushed the day of. It was the day of the event and my nerves were getting the best of me. I was frantic and flustered but Valdas was calm and collected. It was very comforting to know that he was relaxed because it meant that everything was under control. The bar was set up efficiently and the 5 staff were very kind. They helped us set up our catered dinner and ensured things ran smoothly. There was an accessible parking structure next to Westmor and Valdas provided us parking validations to hand out to our guests. Westmor's adorable receptionist area was used as a check in for us. Each time a guest walked in, we saw the happiness in their eyes because of how spacious and beautiful the location was. There was even a convenient place for our DJ to set up! Valdas and Lilia even allowed him to use their sound system and lights. We heard nothing but great feedback from our guests. There was 150-175 of us and we danced ALL NIGHT. This review is coming after witnessing the incredible integrity and professionalism of the owners and staff of Westmor Ballroom. I witnessed a difficult situation take place outside of the building with a very unprofessional, dangerous vendor (that was not hired by the Westmor) and I just wanted to highlight how much I appreciated the owners of the studio prioritizing safety and handling things with respect, even though they were being treated extremely poorly (it was hard to see). This vendor was out of line and out of control, and it takes a lot of strength to handle people like that. If you love to dance you MUST visit this venue. The dance floor is one of the largest and most beautiful floors.. you'll just want to dance looking at the room! Gorgeous (and the history!!!) So many pros dance and practice here.. but beginners will flourish with the level of instruction and inspiration at this studio. I can't say enough about this studio. The most wonderful part is the owners Lillia & Valdas, they are the heartbeat of the business. I have danced for years on both coasts and I have NEVER met two kinder people. Their talent, knowledge and coaching styles are incredible. All the classes here are terrific. Edgar is a wonderful addition to the studio for Latin lovers (and he is adorable, fun & crazy talented). If you are thinking of starting to dance or you want to increase your skills, you need to try Westmor. I guarantee after speaking with either of the owners you will understand my review. If you're a serious competitive ballroom dancer you have to carefully select a coach who can provide you with dancesport-focused instruction beyond what most studios can provide. You likely know about all of the high-level coaches and their specialties within a 40 mile radius of the city. I've yet to find a better standard-focused studio on the Westside, Koreatown or downtown. Here's what you need to know about Westmor: 1. Valdas and Lilia (the owners/head instructors) are a former competitive couple from Lithuania who know their stuff when it comes to standard. Both are excellent coaches who know exactly how to convey information to you. 2. The floor is massive and excellent for smooth/standard-- if you've had a hard time finding useable floor space for traveling dances, Westmor is your place. In fact, most couples I see practicing at Westmor are doing standard. 3. They also have latin coaches available and host a lot of group classes and high level workshops. read more

Amazing studio, very classy and elegant, everything that you could hope for! The floor is HUGE and very smooth, not too slippery not sticking too much. They have a very nice and friendly front desk with plenty of information and flyers to inquire about. I was floored by the kindness of the owner Lilia, she was very helpful and welcoming, it felt very good specially on your first time! They have plenty of tables and chairs all around the floor to sit and put all your dance stuff. The windows are huge and let lots of light coming through. Plenty of mirrors everywhere, very useful when practicing. The parking is not as easy but considering the location, it is actually not bad at all! You can either parking in the H market and buy something to get 2 hours validated or you can go on the street. After 5pm, the P parking (3807) next to the studio and H market has a flat fee of $4.00 so that's a deal! One more important thing is that the bathroom are immaculate! And there is also space to change clothes if you are coming or going somewhere else. The group lesson are also very personalized and technical which is what I am looking for when I pay for a group class. I understand that this studio has been recently remodeled and hats off to the owners, they did a marvelous job and I am very glad I get to dance here. This is my favorite place to ballroom dance in LA. The dance floor on the 3rd floor is huge (competition sized), smooth, and easy on the legs and knees. This is a great place for competitive dancers to practice as it's only $10 per couple all day! The upstairs ballroom isn't air conditioned so it can get a bit warm on hot days, but the smaller ballroom on the 1st floor is air conditioned so that's always an option. Note: as of Feb. 2009, practice is not allowed on Wednesday nights from 6-10 pm, unless you're taking a private lesson that night. read more

Great dance studio for those ballroom/nightclub dancers who are looking for a place to practice. The dance floor on the 3rd floor is very big, and is perfect for those marking their choreography on competition sized floor. Floor fee is only $5 a person, or $10 a couple, for the whole day! Lots of great and friendly people teach and practice here, and they add to the flavor of the studio. The only real downside I have is the parking around Westmor. Being in downtown, it can be difficult getting free parking around the streets (in the evening). 6pm clears the meters on 6th street, and 7pm for the meters at Wilshire. Otherwise, there is a parking lot behind/adjacent to Westmor that cost $5 (at least last time I've used it), and a short walk. read more

We were 3 weeks out from our wedding and we were extremely relieved when we met Lilya for our consultation. She made everything fun and the time flew by. I just fell in love with this studio!!! Have attended the their showacase event for the first time on June 16th. The moment I walked in I saw a enormously huge ballroom, giant chandeliers on the ceiling, piano at the end of the ballroom, the dance pol and dancers circling in waltz made me feel like i ended up in 19th centuries' ball when you wear a beautiful dress with wide bottom and a gentleman galantly asks you to dance. I was greeted by a very nice front desk lady who made me feel like home since I was a little intimidated considering that I have never been to balls and barely know waltz steps. The night was amazing experience for me, I got a chance to dance some Latin too, tried their delicious cake and just had so much fun. If you are a serious dancer this is the best ballroom dance studio in L A. After the recent extensive remodeling, the studio has transformed into a beautiful place to spend time in. The floor is large (considered the best dance floor in town by those who are in the know). The high ceiling and ample tall windows on both sides of the ballroom allow natural lights pouring in during daytime. I love the feeling of open air on my body unlike many other dance studios where they tend to be dark and closed in. I take private and group classes taught by highly skilled instructors. But another benefit of this studio which attracts serious dancers is being able to watch other couples both professional and amateurs taking lessons or practicing. The main cloud is ballroom dancers both Latin (Cha Cha, Rhumba, Samba, etc) and other dances like Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, etc. I also see other type of dancers like Argentin Tango, Salsa, wedding couples and more. I recently participated in showcase. The friends I invited stayed till midnight enjoying themselves dancing after the showcase portion was over. I recommend this place highly for serious and fun loving dancers. For wedding couples too! read more

The Westmor is one rich with history. Earlier this year new owners took the studio over and they have made many positive changes that have brought it back to the place for competitive dancers to go including a complete renovation to update it to a more modern atmosphere while honoring the history of the building. The floor is a very nice and large sprung floor. There are instructors working there that can work with top competitors and beginners. Their group classes are great. Along with private lessons and classes, the studio can be used for personal practice for a very reasonable floor fee. They also have competitor practices on Friday and Sunday evenings that are great for preparing for competitions. Finally, they are having Showcase or other types of parties that are enjoyable for both the competitor and social dancer. There are people at reception that are very friendly and informative. It shows that the new owners care very much about the Westmor - they along with me were patrons of the Westmor back in the 90s and they understand the importance of the Westmor to ballroom dancing in Los Angeles. As others have said, parking can be a problem but there are a couple lots nearby and depending on the time, one of the lots is only $4. A couple blocks away it is also possible to find 4 hour parking. An alternate is there is a Metro station right across the street from the studio. read more

Westmor is an amazing studio with an incredible history. I grew up here at this studio and to say that ballroom dancing's top dancers have trained here would be an understatement, because the history goes as far as Hollywood greats. Beautiful, renovated space with such a positive, elegant, incredible atmosphere. The floor is widely known as the best in ballroom dancing. I'd love to see more film productions done here. There are great group classes, private lessons, and if you need choreography for a wedding (first dance, father daughter, bridesmaids, etc.) this is definitely spot. Just you want to make sure that you contact the studio directly to book your lessons for your special choreography to ensure that you get the right teacher. I have been taking lessons (private and group) and dancing at this studio since around 1987. Recently a lovely professional couple, Valdas and Lila Padriezas, have purchased the studio, remodeled it, and given it a whole new look. The professional instructors here are excellent, and the group classes are lots of fun. On Saturday, I attended a salsa and west coast swing class, and our instructor was super -- I had a great time, and got some good exercise in. I was at the reopening Gala of the Westmor Dance Studios on March 24th. This studio has just been bought by Valdas and Lydia Padreizas. It is undergoing a complete renovation. The ballroom use to be dilapidated and terribly run down. But today it is beautiful. . The walls are all completely redone in very neutral colors. The ceiling is now dark. and there is new lighting everywhere. The entrance is completely redone. The ugly carpet is gone and the floor is planked. The furnishings new. The walls, a medium gray are beautifully decorated with new black and white photographs representing the rich theatrical history of the studio. It is beautiful. The bathrooms have been demolished and news modern, beautiful ones are being built. They are installing air conditioning and ultimately a new sound system. This will ultimately be the best party venue and is already the best place to dance and to practice in LA. Go to their web sight for photos. My husband and I were astounded at the transformation. If only I could give this place 0 stars! Im reviewing this place as someone that booked the place for a party. The place itself is very big and spacious, it's used for a dance studio and parties. The place looks very outdated, you would think because people throw parties/events the location would have more of a neutral color. The walls are orange with red curtains. The carpet is red (super dirty and ripped up). The owner is very adamant about not removing her own decorations (really old plastic plants, Christmas lights, and organza ribbons) because "it would be too expensive to have someone remove and put it back". That was so upsetting because if you're trying to decorate with whatever theme your party is it clashes. We had got this place because it was offered to us as a gift and we figured if this person is recommending it why not. I regret it so much, because the day of the party I'm there decorating and a dance instructor shows up with her clients, I asked her if she was going to teach a class and with a nasty attitude she confirms that she is. So I said to her that I would ask the owner because no one had inform me of this, I get on the phone with the owner and sure enough they can dance around the tables and chairs your setting up as long as they don't touch, move, or put their items on the tables. Well the first thing they do start putting chairs where I didn't have them the rude instructor putting her cellphone on my tables (yeah I'm being petty at this point but she was disgustingly rude Blah). So 12:30 comes by (the time the instructor said she would leave by, also my guests and photographer had arrived) we asked her wasn't she supposed to be done by now and she responds with we went over and we will stay an additional 15 min you guys didn't pay the venue for this time so we're staying. Now I don't know what was agreed between the person that paid for the location and the owner but either way that is such a crappy way of managing a business, because 1 why does this instructor know about what was and wasn't paid, 2 you have these people with nasty attitudes running around like the own the place yet they're paying for the venue the same way the person that gave it to us did. Well party is coming to an end, when this skinny older man comes yelling you need to get out everyone now and I'm like wait a second it's barely 6 (we agreed on 1-6pm and he arrived at 6:06) and I'm trying to explain to him how we still need to clean up (even though there was a $100 surcharge for a cleaning crew) and remove the table cloths chair covers wait for the rental place to pick them up, also wait for the decor lady to get her stuff. And he responds in a loud tone I don't care dump it all and get out I have to lock up get out. We call the owner and she says oh no don't listen to that man you can stay as long as you need, then finally the people that need to pick up the table and chair covers show up as well as the decor lady we're in the middle of getting the place together when another dance instructor walks in and immediately takes picture of the studio, keep in mind that there are children still running around and she captures their faces on her shot. So I asked her to delete the picture that we could get the kids out of the way and she could take it again and she goes off on how she's going to show the owner the mess there is and I told her that was fine but she needed to delete that one. She was so upset that we hadn't moved the tables and chairs ( none of that was done for me) and we informed her that a cleaning crew was to show up at 9 and do it. I feel very disappointed and I urge people not to do business with this person. Unless she fixes all these issues. People that instruct dance lessons there need to be respectful of others that do business with the owner and rent out the place. read more
