When I downed on one, they even gave 10% student discount, without any hue and cry! These guys couldn't be more helpful. And, they really know their stuff. The quality of the products is excellent and the shop has got a huge stock! The shop, is definitely worth a visit, if you are an outdoor sports guy! Recommended? Yes, definitely!

I got my most recent bicycle from here - (a cute retro style ladies number, complete with shopping basked, but boy can it nip along). Mountain, road, hybrid, kid's, trikes, folding/touring - and all the top brands including Ridgeback, Kona, Marin and Whyte. They have speedy deals of the month and the staff have massive brains full of expert, tried-and-tested biking knowledge (many of them are amateur downhill racers in their spare time too), just ask them! Any bike you buy comes with a quarterly service for just a little bit extra money. Now, on yer bike son!

So far as purchasing bikes goes it seems to have a larger selection of mountain bikes rather than road bikes. I popped in to get a puff of my air put into my tyres, they joked with me about not being a paying customer etc. but since I have been back they recognise me and it is a bit of an on going joke. they do very competitively priced Bike MOT's and they are a lot smilier that the in the shop at the top of Black Boy hill, and they are independent unlike places like Evans cycles.

Apart from the bikes themselves, they also have loads of cycling accessories, from child seats for the back of your bike through to gloves, helmets and clothing. From fairly low-price goods through to high-end brands, they offer stock for most budgets. You can also get your bike repaired and serviced by experienced staff and they supply parts by dozens of cycling brands such as Rock Shox, Endura, Truvativ, Shimano, Mavic, Avid, etc. The staff are all cycling experts, and are knowledgeable on local issues such as good biking trails and Cardiff's Bike To Work scheme - so you can find out all sorts by having a chat with them. Highly recommended for any Cardiff cyclists out there.

They don't care if they have any knowledge or passion about the product they are selling. The people working at the Bike Shed know their stuff and you can tell - their enthusiasm is infectious. They don't won't to sell you a bike to make money, they want to find you the right bike so you enjoy biking. That's why I bought a bike off them that I ride all the time. If you're after a bike or just some advice - pop in here -there is no hard sell just friendly advice.

However, staff gave it a thorough service (for a very reasonable price) and insisted it was basically in good condition, minus a few minor and easily fixable problems. For the latter, they've got a massive range of bikes, and are main distributors for big brands such as Falcon and Haro. They check each bike before selling it, and also offer a free service for every bike they sell. On the repair front, they work very efficiently, usually diagnosing the problem whilst you wait and never taking longer than a few days to get it fixed. They don't charge extortionate prices either, and you get the impression they really care about doing a job well. The only down side I can think of is if you get here from any other way than the direction of the Downs, it's a real trek to get to on a bike (fix it to your car and drive up the hill instead!).

You get lovely views in an interesting old building, lots of light in the day time and the upstairs of a bike shop is certainly an original place to put a restaurant. It's fairly average for price with some good deals (the five pound lunch offer is a steal). Service is included in the price, which always annoys me. Mud Dock is a bit different with pretty high quality food.

I went in to get help on BMX's a while back and the guy could not have been more helpful being as I knew nothing and was looking to buy for someone else. Nice little shop that knows its stuff on the area it covers.
