We have been mooching around the country visiting various breweries, cider mills and distillerys and this is up there with great days out !! We pulled up on a gorgeous snowy day and surprisingly were the only two on the tour. We were so grateful they still wanted to take us around, on a Saturday it was as though they had only opened for us ! Very VIP treatment !!!
You start off with a history of the process and a look at all the old kit, this part of the tour is outside so in the winter months wrap up warm ! U are then taken round into the site to look at the new process. You get to meet their huge shire horses at the start of this part of the tour which was awesome !
You head through from apple collection either via their orchard or people even bringing their own apples in the boot of their car (!) right through to ageing, clean up and bottling. The end of the tour takes you back in to the shop where u get to try as much and as many ciders as you want (designated driver recommended!). For only £8 you get all this, your own little cider mug to take away and a great tour which lasts about an hour. They have a cosy shop full of all sorts of gifts (not all alcoholic) and which has stuff you can't buy in your average store (various spirits made from apples). They have lovely gardens on site and even their own restaurant which aims to use Westons products. Coming here rekindled my love for stow ford press and in all honesty, I must have had about 20 bottles alone in the last month !! Great day out, definitely worth the trip! read more
