Dr. Moriatis extracted my tooth and she was nice and professional. She talked to me during the entire procedure explaining everything that was happening. The procedure was painless. I would recommend Dr. Moriatis. Thank you Lifetime Dentistry of Port Orange for your kindness.

I want to begin this review with God Bless Lifetime Dentistry of Port Orange…read more Now, I must detail my months-long saga for treatment. I am lucky enough to have my dental treatment covered by the VA and they had me sent here for treatment. The referral was completed, and my first appointment was in October. From October until my last appointment last week in April, I have had a constant struggle. The good: The staff's attitudes have always been welcoming and kind. The okay: Scheduling to be the same day for multiple emergency walk-ins was good. The not-so-good: I originally was referred for one crown and three cavities by the VA. The nitrous that was administered never really worked until the dentist came in the room even though the dental assistant said she had it turned on, which, they can't administer a therapeutic effect as their position does not allow them to. There is only one dentist for what seems like 7 treatment berths that are filled at a time, which creates quite a lot of running from room to room for the dentist to do when the office is full of patients and I had very little actual time receiving treatment from her. Most of the work is completed by dental assistants, which, don't get me wrong, they were proficient, however, I did have to go back three separate times because the temporary crowns that they would apply, would break almost immediately, as well as cause pain for days after the application. Even though it took 7 months to complete three cavities and the original crown, in that period and waiting, Dr. Mariotis found other work to be done and recommended two further crowns and cavity filling to be applied due to "decay". While I do not have the training to diagnose myself, I wish I could have gotten a second opinion on the "decay" as I wish I still had my natural teeth. After seeing the bill of $2247.00 per crown, I realized that this may have been an easy money-making opportunity knowing these things would be approved for further treatment by the VA. To conclude, I believe that my teeth are better off than when I started, however, regardless of referral or not from the VA possibly slowing things down, I felt like I had to jump through multiple hurdles created by the staff, or the doctor to be seen, or cared for in a manner that reduced anxiety rather than created it. I appreciate the work that was done, however, I do not believe I will be returning to this office in the future as differences in the treatment plan, and the quality of service necessary to accompany such a high price tag are not something I would subscribe to on my dime, let alone being a good steward of the blessing of community care provided by the VA's money. Thank you Lifetime Dentistry, and I wish you all the best.

The girl told me I could still come in for my cleaning that I've been waiting 2 months for, since my crown was put on. I told them on the phone that after my cleaning, I would have to find a new dentist that would take my insurance, and I wouldn't be back after that. They understood. When I arrived for my cleaning, the next day, I was told I had to pay $91 towards my X-rays. I asked why would I get X-rays when I wouldn't be back, due to you dropping my insurance carrier? I was told it was office policy to have X-rays w a cleaning. Why would I have X-rays if I wasn't able to come back for future dental work? I couldn't believe they wouldn't perform my teeth cleaning without the X-Rays..... it didn't make sense! So I left without my cleaning and was dumbfounded!

I had been to Smillie Dental twice before and was in the middle of a dental procedure when Dr. Smillie abandoned me. Dr. Smillie gave no notice of abandonment, and failed to arrange for alternate care to complete the dental work underway. Dr. Smillie refused to speak with me and sent staff to convey to me that I was being dismissed as a patient because of the negative review I had written. I begged for Dr. Smillie to complete the procedure or to have another dentist in the office finish my treatment. Dr. Smillie refused. I stated I would seek another dentist for my future dental needs, but to please finish the work that had already begun. Dr. Smillie refused. The dental work would have been completed in 5 calendar days, on August 24th. Dr. Smillie did not care. I explained I would have to start all over again and that treatment would be delayed 2-3 months (finding another dentist, waiting for an appointment, starting the procedure over again, the required delays between dental visits, etc.). Dr. Smillie did not care. I explained I had already made the investment of time, that my husband was sick, and starting over with the treatment Dr. Smillie could finish at my already scheduled appointment on 08/24/2021 (in 5 days) was a huge impact to me and the health of my sick husband. Dr. Smillie did not care about me or my family. Dr. Smillie refused. Dr. Smillie did not respect me enough as a human being or as a patient to speak to me personally. I was speechless. My initial review accurately detailed and documents prepared by office staff supported my complaint of Dr. Smillie's "bait and switch." Instead of identifying where things fell apart within the practice and/or among the staff and taking corrective action to prevent what happened to me from happening to another patient, Dr. Smillie arbitrarily decided, due to my negative review, to retaliate and to dismiss me as a patient. Writing reviews is something I do regularly. I read reviews and appreciate the time others take to give frank and honest reviews and so I reciprocate by writing reviews - both positive and negative based on my experiences. So, in a nut shell my recommendation is: Do not seek treatment at Smillie Dental. They are unprofessional, they "bait and switch," they do not care about their patients or their families, and do not respect patients enough to even speak with them - they send a staff member. Smillie Dental will abandon you and your family in the middle of a dental procedure, they will not arrange for alternate care to complete your underway dental treatment and they will waste your time and your money. Furthermore, if you write a negative review, they will retaliate against you, dismiss you as a patient, and take harmful actions affecting your health. Forget the fancy office and the state-of-the-art equipment, these things are useless if the doctors in that practice can't or won't treat their patients with care, respect, compassion, dignity, transparency, effective communications, and face-to-face interactions. Please stay away from Smillie Dental - no one deserves, to be treated like Dr. Smillie treated me!

I called and got an appointment right away the next morning at 8:30 which was good, but then they required me to have a full set of x-rays a hygienist exam and it ended up costing me over $200 to get the tooth fixed in my denture only to 24 hours later today to bite into something and swallow the same tooth now it's Easter weekend and they don't know when they can get me in next week Monday, but I'm not even sure about that. What I'm thinking is my should've lasted longer than 24 hours and they able to get me in at 8:30 the next morning after it initially happened ...now it's their mistake the repair didn't hold and I don't even know when I can get back in all I can think about is the fact that it cost me over $200 yesterday morning because they knew I was gonna have an exam and a full set of x-rays and a hygienist look at my teeth and they have the opportunity to talk to me about buying more services and now they just have to fix something that they didn't repair correctly and not make any money off of it very unsatisfied. I still don't know what time I can get in on Monday if I can at all waiting for a call happy Easter
