I'm new to Kaiser and I could not have had a worse experience with them in general…read more I rushed out to their Scott's Valley urgent care location because of a UTI I'd contracted, knowing they were completely booked at their Santa Cruz Location and wouldn't be able to see me. The best they could do at Scott's Valley was have me give them a sample and send me on my way with the advice to drink plenty of water, so I did that and my symptoms infact didn't improve. However the urgent care didn't do "after hours", so I needed to drive out to Watsonville to be seen at the ER, where I (understandably given the ER takes on many patients) waited until one in the morning to be prescribed anything at all to help the infection. I went home and slept thinking that it was over. When I thought I would be getting a prescription designed for specifically UTIs in mind, the pharmacy had to run it by another department before giving me the new prescription, said department then denied this and said what Watsonville gave me was "actually better" even though it at most kept my symptoms at bay. When I wasn't feeling any better that night I had to go back down to Watsonville for a blood test to be assured things were as normal as they could be, waited until twelve at night for the blood test to come back (I don't blame that but it's a little inconvenient) before I went back home and tried to sleep it off. After these two ordeals I've since spent a month dealing with this issue, after finishing a course of antibiotics I had to run back to Urgent Care to get doses to last me three days and give them another sample so they could do a culture lab and find out what the infection was resistant to. It took them a week to finish those labs, and they did NOT test the resistances of the infection like they were supposed to. After finally managing to see my primary care provider, her best advice for me was to take the same antibiotics again for three more days alongside some probiotics, as well as giving the Santa Cruz lab department a blood sample to ensure my body was still functioning properly. They got the blood labs to me late that same night and then did not follow up with me via the website portal or a phone call/message and I had to contact my care provider for any answer at all. She said to expect a call back the next day at the latest after she discussed my UTI with another department and then never called back. I had to call the offices myself to try and schedule in another call, but she was still not in for responding and the department department had yet to follow up with her either. I'm looking up reviews before I pick my next provider. This is going to be an experience that sticks to me in the worst kind of way. Please do better with your other patients who are in worse health.

The doctors and staff have been great and very professional and helpful. The downtown location is super convenient- unfortunate that they don't have weekend hours in this busy downtown area. Have learned to use the telehealth resources via the website to access my primary care doc and and kid's pediatricians, as their appointments are not easily bookable unless you contact them directly with specific information that they can then triage.

I did so and that was fine. I got a message in my chart that said " good news!everything looks great!". However I saw that I was positive for a bacterial infection. I found that a little bit strange. The next thing that happened was that the pharmacy texted that they had medication ready for me. I looked at it and it said the medication has been approved by a doctor that Had retired 10 years ago! WTF? Then I looked at the notes and it said the doctor had prescribed 25 mg but the pharmacy said it didn't come in 25 mg so they were going to give me 45 mg. Again WTF? The pharmacy is prescribing the medication for me? I called to try to get some clarification on this but although the gal that I talked to was very nice (after holding for a long time to get her) She really had no answers for me. Just incompetence and poor customer service all the way around. I'm going to have to find another urgent care to go to.

So, I go to the pharmacy to pickup my meds. That's when I realized my DL. was missing (I needed it to pickup my pain med). I Started calling the S.C.office when I got home at 3:50 no answer. They are supposed to be open until 5. Left many messages. Nothing! No call back. Called the Salinas office. Her name is Ashley I think. Spoke with the receptionist and explained the situation. She said I'll call the receptionist (at S.C). but said she might be on her way home and that I'll call you right back. Waited and waited no call back. I called her back. Said she couldn't contact her and that she would call her boss and call me right back. Which she kinda did.Took awhile. LOL She asked me If I could be at the S.C. office the following day at 9:30am. I said no but I can at 11:00. She was going to call the boss back again then call me right back. Never heard back from her!! When I called back it went straight to leaving a message and it was 4:54. Totally Irresponsible and unprofessional. I was told they only come to Santa Cruz once a month. It wasn't so much about forgetting. Everybody forgets. It"s really about not calling me in the first place when they saw. They would've had to see them you would think. Secondly, closing early, If they hadn't I could have come back and got it. Last, not calling me back. That was downright irresponsible. Thats her job! Unfortunately due to closing early and not returning calls I have to suffer through a night of pain.
