Be it a birthday party, family outing or date night, a good time will be had at Westside Lanes. Westside takes me back to the many days spent at Don Carter's. Even though Westside is much smaller, the amount of fun is the same. I especially like the food here. The menu is huge which means there is bound to be something for everyone. The bar staff seemed a bit rushed, but the staff at the service counter were very pleasant and accommodating. I changed shoes more than should be allowed, but I was never made to feel as if I was an inconvenience. Until next time!

Still have never bowled here, only come to play cornhole in the back rooms. There's 2 bars, one main one behind the bowling lanes and a second one in the smaller back room where cornhole is played. Also a poker machine or 2...burger was ok. I was expecting a little better, the patty itself wasn't all that but not the worst I've had. The pizza on the other hand is very good! Along with their fried rice and noodles. Paid $11 for a cheeseburger dressed with fries, the place is very reasonably priced. Will try more food as I continue coming for cornhole

Had a fun afternoon with my nephew here. Front desk didn't seem like they were enjoying being there. There isn't a great selection of balls. Food was what you would expect at a bowling alley. Unfortunately, the arcade had more games out of order than were working. I didn't mind the pay by the game policy. We bowled 3 games and it was a reasonable price. It's a small bowling alley so get there early if you want a lane. I like that per 2 lanes there is a plexi glass separator. He had a great time which was the goal, so I will visit again if he wants. LOL.

Two weeks ago I went bowling with my daughter and God child. Instead of going to the usual spots, we went to @westsidelanes_nola on what some like to call the "best bank". It was such a cuteeeeee bowling alley. It was family oriented yet still perfect for a date night. In the front room, there is a small gaming area and tables for dining. As you approach the lanes, you see a full bar and the bowling shoe rental station. To top it off, not only did they serve the traditional bar food (fried fish was rolllling BTW), they also have a full service Vietnamese noodle house. The pork and shrimp vermicelli noodles were delicious!!!! Overall, I had a wonderful experience there. If you need a new date night spot or family outing (that's COVID safe), this place is great. The mask protocol was in full effect, and the owners made sure to enforce it! Lots of sanitizing and great service.

This was a happy reprieve to find a bowling alley on the WestBank. Went with some friends and had a great time, it was clean and followed COVID protocols. The Vietnamese food was very tasty. We will go back, friends go every Saturday!

I am so excited right now! I just spent the afternoon bowling at the brand new Westbank bowling alley and it was a lot of fun! This is a big deal. The Westbank hasn't had a bowling alley in years. Sometimes you just want to bowl and you don't want to drive all the way downtown, you know? Anyway, I had heard rumors months ago about this place opening and I've been following the progress on Facebook. They finally opened two weeks ago and this spot is just gorgeous! Everything is brand new (obviously), they have comfy seats to sit on in the bowling area, they have 20 lanes of bowling fun, they have a cafe area that serves drinks and food, and they have another bar off to the side. I bowled today and had a lot of fun, even though I was a bit rusty and probably need some more practice before I enter any leagues. There is staff everywhere making sure that everyone is having a good time. The lanes are really nice and the screens are really fancy. At night they are going to have light shows while people bowl and on weekends they have DJ's. While we were there we decided to get some lunch. I got a dressed burger which came with potato salad. The food was okay- I don't know if anyone will be coming here just for the food, but it's better than typical bar food and it hit the spot while we were in the middle of a heated match. I can't wait to become a regular at Westside Lanes. I am really a huge fan of bowling, but I don't go as much as I'd like, because the Westbank didn't have any lanes. Now that we have an alley again, this is going to be something really fun to do on the weekends. Also, can you say "bowling party"? A big group was having one there today!

It's not open to the public. Only for leagues. The only time you can bowl with your family are a few hours on Saturdays. I was disappointed.

Nico (sp?) was such a gem and treated us so well on the night my cousin and friends took me out to…read morecelebrate my birthday! I have a love/hate that they change their menu because I thought I did my due diligence and studied the menu and precious Yelp reviews to prepare what to order. But then the menu changed but it was fine bc Nico helped steer us to all the good stuff! We ordered a bunch of dishes and ate family style so we could try everything! The stand outs to me were the Pani Puri with the fiery mint water that you pour and lets you control the heat (you eat it in one bite), the Pork Dan Dan Buco Di Creste noodles (we asked not too spicy, we're getting older! Haha ), the Gulf Shrimp Pakora, and the ice cream pie from Lucy Boone! Mister Mao is where the old Dick and Jenny's restaurant used to be across from Rouse's on Tchoupitoulas. It's a little pricey but so worth it for a fancy night out!! And ask for Nico, he's the best!!

Recommendations (note- we ordered all the spices and sauces to the side because we have low spice…read moretolerance LOL): The hanger steak was my favorite. It had such a nice smoky flavor and was absolutely delicious. The broken rice was very creamy and delicious. However, the title is misleading because it was more like grits with cheese on top. The Prahok Ktiss was pretty flavorful and authentic, but there weren't enough sesame chips that came with the dish to balance out the spiciness of the paste. We asked our waiter if we could get more chips, which they said they weren't able to do. As an Asian American, I could tell that the chips were an inexpensive snack that you could buy from the grocery store, so I thought it was odd that they couldn't fulfill that request. I loved the pani puri! The presentation was beautiful and the strawberry oddly went well with the dish. Do not recommend: The Kashmiri fried chicken tasted dry. Crab pasta- I forgot the name, but it didn't have much flavor and I didn't taste the crab. Service: friendly and attentive. Overall, the food isn't the most authentic but some of the dishes were unique and tasty.

This is my favorite restaurant! The owner/executive chef, Chef Hao is a genius. We get the "Feed…read moreMe" option where 4-5 dishes are brought out that are chosen and prepared personally by Chef Hao. His dishes are to die for. Combinations you would never think would work together just fuse and melt in your mouth. He pairs things like raw salmon and strawberries with a sauce that mind blowing. All this combined in your mouth is like heaven on Earth! His Mama's Dumpling soup is so good especially on a cold or rainy night. I have tried almost his whole menu and can't complain about a thing. My only complaint is I wish they were open for lunch. If I worked there, my whole check would go to my bill and I'd still probably owe him money! The staff is really good. They are great for offering recommendations from food to cocktails to bourbons (that he collects). And if they aren't sure, they will ask Chef Hao for his advise. They fully explain everything that comes out and is put on the table, even the rice they explain is to sop up any extra sauce. Every day he is open, he is out picking the freshest fish, veggies, and fruits so dishes taste fresh and can be changed up if one thing isn't available but something else is. The place itself is small but very cozy. I would definitely recommend reservations through Open Table. We went one night during all the very cold weather. I was worried I'd be cold since it's in a remodeled NOLA shotgun house (and those building at known for being drafty), but Chef had the place insulated very well. My husband and I go there for our wedding anniversary, birthdays, or just to go when the craving hits. It's a great place to bring a date.
