So the wife booked this place. For a campground that's full, there were a lot of open spots. Weird. I guess online reservations are taking the spots even though they're not showing up. We had slots 27 and 29. One row from the water. We were just a short walk to the bathroom. Bathrooms were fine. I did not use the showers because I forgot the quarters. We had water hook up for slot 29. Remember not all spots have water. Also this place is not full hook ups. So be prepared. They do have a dumping station but that cost $7 bucks. Not bad plus they have a water hose for cleaning at the dump station. As for the stay, I really enjoyed our spot. The water when it receded, was safe enough for my kids to play and look for sea life. Easy to find a red rock crab or monkey face eel. Also plenty of baby crabs under the rocks. The views were amazing. The girls went out on hikes while I was out crabbing. Fun times for sure. They do have a generator rule. You can run them from 8am to 8pm. I might have ran mine past the time because it was windy and cold and I was not about to make my kids suffer. I did have a quiet generator which helped keep me out of trouble. Would I come back? You betcha. Everyone I talked to were nice. read more

My husband and I stayed here for our dating anniversary and wanted to keep our camping trip local to the Bay Area. We had seen plenty of mixed reviews but decided to give it a try. After our experience, we'd probably return for car camping or an RV rather than tent camping. *Pros 1. Easy Check-In/Check-Out: A ranger greets you and provides a paper with your campsite number and checkout date. Keep it visible on your vehicle. On our last day, we just left the site after cleaning up. Check-In time starts at 2:00 pm, and Check-Out is at 12 noon. 2. Great Camp Host: The older gentleman running the site was friendly, funny, and helpful. We enjoyed chatting with him. 3. Right By the Bay: You're just steps from the water, with a short walk to the boat launch, picnic areas, and benches. 4. Beautiful Weather: We had mostly sunny, brisk weather, with some fog rolling in--which we loved. 5. Basic Campsite Amenities: Sites include a picnic table, fire ring, and parking area. Some sites also have water spigots. There is a dump portion for RV's, and recycling and garbage cans. We were also under a nice big tree for shade, but there was a lot of poop on our car hahaha. 6. Great Food Closeby: You're near several local spots, including Pelican Plaza Market and Rocker Oysterfeller's. The Peli Deli from Pelican Plaza Market is a must! We had it twice. *Cons / Things to Know 7. Loose Check-In/Security: The check-in process felt pretty relaxed. People were coming and going after sunset, despite my understanding that the site closed at sunset. 8. Bathrooms and Showers Need Maintenance: The toilets were generally clean, but the bathrooms had quite a bit of bird poop. 9. Shower Info/Bring Shower Shoes: Showers have hot water, but there was literally a bird's nest above me while I showered .Showers cost $2 for 5 minutes, then $0.25 per additional minute. The camp host advised loading the next quarter before your time runs out, or you'll have to pay another $2. We ended up putting all our quarters in at once so we wouldn't forget. 10. Campsites Are Very Close Together: Our neighbors were unfortunately loud the whole day, played loud music and talked loudly, and didn't pick up after their dog. Everyone else was respectful, but this definitely affected our experience. Fellow tent campers I'd recommend getting a site closer to the water if possible. Because of our noisy neighbors, we eventually slept in our car. *Overall We had a good anniversary trip and enjoyed being so close to the Bay and local food. That said, I'd recommend this campground more for car camping or RVs than tent camping, especially if you're sensitive to noise or want more privacy between sites. read more

Although more known for its campgrounds, this park is also a decent setting for occasional special events. I came here this past weekend to attend the annual Bodega Bay Fisherman's Festival for the second time. Enjoyed the boat parade, helicopter display, interacting with starfish and other sea creatures, and live music by multiple bands on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The nearby camping area looked less than desirable. But as an event space, it's not bad at all, offering lovely views looking out onto the water, especially near the boating facility, while fitting a multitude of food and merchandise vendor tents on site. read more

We had a group of people that were camping hear for the night that played loud music until 11:30 or 12:00 pm there was no sign of the camp host. As a mater of fact we got here on Tuesday and did not see the host here until Thursday morning. I talked to the ranger that checks you in about trash that was left from the previous campers, she picked some of the trash and I picked up the rest. read more

We stayed for one night at the Westside regional park Campground. This was our first time at bodega Bay.The campground is small and is very conveniently located right next to the public ramp for launching your boat. The campground has two restrooms with electricity and running water. The campground is also nearby several seafood restaurants. The food was delicious and we ate it at our campsite while overlooking the water. The campground is small enough that all sites are a very short distance away from the water. We stayed at campsite number 21 which is on the second row away from the water. Most people camping here we're using RVs however we were on a tent and there is grass to set it up. The campsites are small but adequate and there is also running water in some of them. The check in time is at 2 PM and checkout time is at noon. You can bring your dog as long as they are on a leash. There is also an additional fee that they charge per dog. It is also possible to visit the Doran regional park and enter for free for a day visit with your paperwork that says that you are camping at Westside. During the night we were visited by some raccoons so make sure that all your food is stored away. The campsite had a table and also a fire ring. The camp host also sells firewood. Overall it was a nice campsite and I would recommend this location. read more

Gave this park another try. However, this time with an RV. It's perfect for those hauling long RVs. Lots 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 15 to 47 are pull through. Great for those who have anxiety backing up. Lots are leveled as well which is a plus. There are no full hookups, but do have a dump station for a fee of $7 using a credit or debit card. I believe it's the same camp host couple that run this place. Cool guy making his rounds ensuring everything is in order. Seen him push out some folks who decided to camp on lot 32 without a reservation. On my second visit, I appreciate this park even more. Never came across lousy neighbors, but maybe it's just luck. I love the open space which is great for my solar panels. read more

Camp Host demanded we turn off our generator at 6:30 pm even though the hours for use are after 8:00am and until 8:00pm. This host requested I turn it off immediately and questioned what I was charging at this time of day. She then asked me if I could imagine what it must be like sitting at the campfire hearing my loud generator?? This park has additional etiquette rules yet gives no consideration for the camper who arrives late and chooses to get a quick charge up for phones, computer etc before 8:00pm. Apparently, my needs for phone service are less important than someone needing to sit quietly by their campfire. read more

Pretty good for a few nights. When I booked, I thought we had a tree and water on our camp site because it looked like that from the map, but had neither. We hadn't come prepared for no shade so we got pretty burnt the first day there (at the coast, can you believe it?). The showers are coin operated and sort of run down and a little dirty. There are a lot of RVs, which is okay, but if you want a view and you have a tent try to book close to the water. That being said, there were fire pits that were awesome, people were friendly, you're close to everything, the price was good, and it's a short walk for a great sunset. I'd go back. read more

Great location alongside bay, was super windy so we didn't get to enjoy outdoors as much but will definitely come try this spot again.

A friend of mine camps here every year and it is definitely a popular place to camp - she told us to book reservations at least 1 year in advance! Also it's about 1 mile away from Spud Point Crab Company - see my review. I'll update my review next year when we camp there. read more

Nice park, dry camping, dump station and quarter showers. Not as windy as other bodega parks.

The park has taken a turn for the worst,have been camping there over 15 years .I was there 6/2022 for a week I never saw the campground host even driving through the campsites ,I cleaned out my own fire pit ,four 5 gallon bucketfuls of old ash that was blowing all over our chairs,trailer etc.I don't have an issue with generators starting a little early,or running a little late i.e.20 mins.or so but my lovely neighbor woke me up at 5:30 am first morning,and ran it till 10:30 pm the second night,even after the park ranger ,not the campground host addressed ,the issue .Loved picking up the dog poop also before I could put my ground mat down. read more

For the record, we didn't camp here, but did spend some time in and out checking it out as a potential future spot to camp. My family and I enjoy crabbing from the pier that's a stone throw away from here, fishing from the jetty, and digging up clams in the bay. This is the closest spot to find a restroom when doing any of those activities. This campground does kind of resemble an RV Park and has rows of camp sites laid out like a parking lot, this is true, but have you driven around the area in the Bay in Bodega?? THEY ARE ALL LIKE THAT! If you want camping with trees, cliffs and beach, this isn't the place, but neither is any other campground in a 5 miles radius. This is however a great spot if you want to remain local and capitalize on all that the Bay has to offer. The camp host was extremely friendly when we pulled in asking to use the restrooms. The other camp sites were filled with all kinds of people and families and dog owners. There are some camp sites that are shaded with trees and others that have views of the bay. They have a dump station on site that is open for use by non-campers and charges a minimal fee to dump. They had large clean bathrooms. Overall a nice place. read more

Not a bad second choice to camp in the area. We aren't usually planners and usually try to get a first come-first serve campsite at Doran. When that fails we come over to Westside next. The camp hosts are warm and friendly and go out of their way to accommodate. This is a paved area, no beach but has some bayside campsites. We lucked out, someone cancelled their reservations and we got the last available bay side site on a very windy cool bright day. It's cold enough that we aren't sitting outside but enjoying the view from the comfort of our motorhome! read more

This place is a total rule enforced place. If you are down for a place with retired old people calling you out on all the rules then you should come here. I went with my dog on a leash and she saw other dogs running loose and barked at them. She got called out on it but the white folks with the dog not on the leash didn't get talked to. This place is meant for people with only rvs and not meant for actual camping. The sites are so small or any tents to be set up. I would find a different place to camp if you actually wanted a real camping experience. There is a high chance of you getting kicked out. Stupid place with too many rules and regulations which they don't tell you until you break it. read more

Maybe not the secluded type of park some like but the view of the Bay is nice, the people who run it are outstanding. The camp host on our last trip was so helpful and friendly. The Rangers are also helpful, friendly and social, I wish all Rangers were so nice. We have camped here several times will be coming back many more times. There is plenty to do here, fishing, clamming, crabing or just watch the boats go by. You are walking distance from Spud Point Marina and the Bodaga head is just up the road. The people and atmosphere make this a great park. read more

Ugly campground in a great area. Had a bad experience because rangers won't enforce the rules. Our neighbors Had 45 people stuffed into 3 campsites partying until 3 am 2 nights in a row. Rule is 8 per campsite. Complaints by many people and rangers did NOTHING!!! Camp host was super mad that rangers didn't enforce anything. It was horrible. read more

This is basically an RV parking lot - not meant for tents. We didn't know that. Very close proximity to your neighbors, fishing only accessible by boat, which we did not have either. Like I said, could be great if you have a RV or camping trailer, not recommended for tents!!! Soooo loud and noisy too, don't come here if looking for a peaceful stay. Giving it two stars based on our tent experience. Small campground, basically in a parking lot. We actually left a night early. read more

Disclaimer: Westside Regional Park is technically an RV parking lot which you are permitted to set up tents in. It is not a campground in the traditional sense. We drove right past it in search of our campsite (you know, the kind with trees and stuff), got to the end of the road and thought we'd missed it somehow. We stopped back at the RV park to ask for directions. Pulling in to the park, we noticed the address matched the one we were looking for. Optimistically, we thought that you check in here and get a map to your site. Unfortunately, we had already arrived... Pros: - Flat ground for setting up tents (it is a parking lot, after all). - 2 bathrooms which were totally clean (I didn't bother with the showers, of which there was 1 female and 1 male shower for the entire parking lot- er, campsite). - Safe, and definitely a good spot if you're RV "camping" with kids. We saw kids biking around all day, having a blast. - Excellent proximity to cool spots in Bodega Bay. We walked across the road for a nice hike, drove about a mile to Bodega head for epic views, and as the other reviewer (who hasn't even been, so no idea why she's reviewing) mentioned, very close to Spud's amazing clam chowder restaurant. - Limited/ nonexistent regulation on noise. Which could be good if your camp mates wish to stay up all night like the people across from us did (and bad if you didn't want to be bothered until 2:45am, like me). Cons: - It is literally a PARKING LOT. There are 3 rows of "campsites" which are like long parking spaces (we fit 3 cars and a tent on the pavement), each with a grass/ dirt strip containing a picnic table and a fire pit. We stayed in site #21, which is in the treeless row, so there was just a road on either side of our site. - NOISE. RV generators kicking on all night, dogs barking, fishermen arriving at the adjacent parking lot and utilizing the docks starting around 4am, cars driving on the main road. If you should go here, I would suggest jackhammer-grade earplugs. There was occasional road noise all night, and constant, relentless road noise starting around 4am. - No privacy from other campers, unless you brought an RV. - Mites in the ground. We set up our tent, went for a hike, started prepping for dinner, and noticed that thousands of tiny brown mites had covered the tent, outside and in. The bugs were so small that they went through the tent's mesh areas and we had to shake out and relocate the whole tent. I know there are bugs in the great outdoors, but really wasn't expecting them since we weren't exactly in the great outdoors. All in all, we were camping with wonderful people who know how to make the best of everything. It could have been a lot worse. The fire pit was huge, and we had plenty of wood. It was not a terrible experience by any means, but I would not recommend this "campground" to anyone tent camping or seeking an escape from noise/ the general population. I have no plans to return here. read more

Great time. Definitely a trailer kind of place.( lots of generators) We had all weather sun, hail, rain and wind. Good views, shared water, no electricity. We did a back up spot next to trees which gave us a BIT more privacy then others in the pull thru spots. Very well priced we'll be back! Thanks camp hosts. read more
