We were told that your company never books a helicopter tour with a ground tour for this very reason we missed our helicopter tour. If we had received an itinerary for our tour we could have made sure we were on time for our helicopter tour. We never received an email confirmation for our booking. When we arrived at your office we asked Brad for an itinerary but he said he didn't have one. When we made our reservation Jasmin said she would email us a confirmation with all the details which we never received. Brad told us she spelled my name wrong on my email address which I find odd because she had to have spelled it correctly to put my credit card charge through. This debacle on your end ruined our once in a lifetime experience. This was total breakdown on your end just to save money. Our pilot Brandon went out of his way to try and make things right. West Wind Air Service was absolutely amazing from start to finish. From a great website, to a terrific conversation with Destiny about the perfect tour match for us, everything was so easy. I booked the day trip effortlessly and even upon arrival Destiny, Ron and Carla all kept the itinerary a secret from my mom for her birthday surprise. The Deer Valley Airport was great, the complimentary snacks and beverages were so nice and we quickly were walked out with the pilot. They even offered to take our photos in front of the plane with the pilot. The plane itself was so comfortable and roomy. We flew over Arizona and landed at the Grand Canyon. From there West Wind gave great details, vouches and advice. From there we explored, took our bus rides to bee lookouts, had our entire lunch covered, a helicopter included down to the bottom of the canyon and then onto a boat from there through the Colorado River. It was just spectacular. Upon our return, we were provided with a complimentary photo of us at departure. Really a wonderful way to take a trip to Grand Canyon if you are in the Phoenix area and don't have a lot of time. Lindsay in the office answered all of our goofy pre trip questions. We were picked up from the hotel. We took a 90 minute flight up to the West rim of the canyon. We helicoptered down into then canyon to do a short jaunt on the Colorado river. A bus takes you to the Skywalk and a some scenic overlooks. The pilot Ryan was with us the entire day and was great with our kids. Unforgettable views and we were back poolside before dinner. read more

Our family of four did the Adventure Tour - GC West Rim w/Skywalk package through WestWind during spring break in April 2023. While one would expect the the Grand Canyon to be a finely-tuned, well-oiled tourist machine, it definitely is not. While Westwind did their part in getting us safely from Sedona to the Grand Canyon and back -and we loved our pilot Brandon - what they don't emphasize is it that they are are the mercy of the Grand Canyon vendors - in our case Papillon Helicopters and whoever runs the Skywalk. For this cost, some VIP treatment is expected, but there is none. The first stop at the Skywalk and Eagle Point was so crowded that, because of the time limit we had in order to make our 1 pm helicopter ride, we had to choose between eating lunch or standing in the 2-3 hour Skywalk line. Since we had kids, we opted to eat, and still had to wait about 20 min for a table for burgers and chicken sandwiches. Then hopped back on the bus, were told we had to skip the Guano Point stop to make it to our 1 pm helicopter ride. Upon arriving at the Papillon Helicopters terminal, we were told it would be about 45 more min, which they kept telling us. Eventually, we made it on the helicopter at 3 pm, 2 hours past our assigned time that we rushed back for, skipping Guano Point and the Skywalk. The reasoning for the delay was that it was cold and 7 of their 8 helicopters were down for the day because of overnight freezing. Who in their right mind allows a $10M aircraft to freeze overnight? Is there no protocol in place to provide shelter for the $10M helicopters during freezing temperatures? Who is accountable for this? None of these questions were really answered. Once we did get on the helicopter, it was about a 5-min ride to the pontoon boat ride, which was pretty cool, but nowhere in the package description did it say anything about a pontoon boat ride and I would have rather had a longer helicopter ride. When they dropped us off for the pontoon boat ride, the now two functioning helicopters were taking turns dropping groups off, however we still had to wait about 45 min to get picked up after the boat tour was over. Waiting and being stuck somewhere for a ride were the themes of the day. This package is not worth the money. Overall, the GC does not have the infrastructure or processes in place to handle any kind of overwhelming number of spring break or holiday tourists. My hindsight advice would be: figure out a lesser traveled time to visit to GC; arrange your own travel so you're not stuck somewhere at the mercy of someone else; skip the Skywalk - it's little, not worth the wait, and you can't even take your own photos; do more research than I did, especially if traveling with kids; bring your own food; if you really want to do a helicopter tour, do not use Papillon, try the place next door - Maverick's Helicopters. As of this post, I have not received any refunds, but will be calling on Monday morning. read more

We just got back from an outstanding day with Westwind Air Service. Brandon was our pilot today and he was great. He did a great job flying the plane and projected great confidence. He did a good job moving us from one activity to another without ever making us feel rushed. The aircraft was clean, well maintained and the seats were comfortable. Through the headphone there was pleasant music interspersed with interesting information about the area. There was good communication with the staff leading up to our arrival making finding where we were suppose to be easy. On top of that we met some nice people from Nashville . Lindsey picked me up from the Boulders. She was enthusiastic with a wealth of information. Meg one of the staff at Westwind was enthusiastic and accommodating. Brett was my pilot. The reason I say "my" pilot was I was solo ~ for a while. They asked if I minded if we made a stop in Sedona to pick up a small family of three, which was a nice extra. The family was from England, Gilford on Thames in Surrey to be exact, and they were a pleasure. The red rock formations were spectacular. The narration was excellent, and choreographed perfectly for the flight. Although the Cessna looked small in photos, it was very comfortable for the four of us. Brett took us over the South rim, then the East and North rims of the spectacular Grand Canyon. This was definitely the ideal introduction to this natural wonder. The return flight was smooth because he took us above the turbulence. I was impressed by the skill and professionalism of everyone I came in contact with at Westwind., and would strongly recommend this rather than an arduous drive from Scottsdale. read more

I recently planned a very last-minute trip to the Grand Canyon and decided to include a Rim to Rim view flight. I called Westwind Air Service in the Phoenix area and scheduled a flight with Terry, who was most helpful and informative. Due to a severe wind advisory at the Canyon for my scheduled flight day I decided to reschedule and once again spoke with Terry, who promptly moved my flight back one day. On Wednesday 4/17 I drove to Grand Canyon Airport in Tusayan (a short drive from my hotel) and met with Jason, a very courteous employee who works at the counter checking passengers in for their flights. Our pilot Brad (who has a great sense of humor) took us out to the Cessna 207 aircraft and as there were only three passengers, two people sat in the back and I sat up front. There was still some wind and we encountered a little bumpiness on the way to the canyon, but this was the bumpiest part of the flight. Due to the interesting weather day there were cloud formations low over the canyon which provided additional striking views, and I found myself watching the sky as much as the canyon itself. I enjoyed the recording that played over headsets along the way, and also enjoyed talking with the pilot prior to and briefly following the flight. Note: In the front seat you will not have an unobstructed view out of the side window as there is a wing strut that comes down and attaches to the body of the plane. However, you can see everything beneath you and if you bring your camera you can zoom past this for photos. My goal was to see the grand canyon at different times of day and night and from different vantage points; flying over the canyon certainly helped fulfill that goal and added to the overall enjoyment of my trip. I definitely recommend Westwind Air Service for anyone looking to take a view flight over the Grand Canyon. read more

The flight itself was great. However, it was over an hour late. Upon landing, the pilot blew out a tire. It still felt relatively safe, but was a bit scary. They then made us walk a mile back to the terminal, couldn't even send out a shuttle to get us. No refund of any kind was offered, simply a bottle of water. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Some things in life are worth the expense. This review is for the Signature Grand Canyon tour. Along the hour-long flight up to the Canyon, the pilot pointed out scenic points of interest including cattle ranches north of Phoenix, Montezuma 's Well, Sedona, Mt. Humphrey's, the Painted Desert and of course both the north and south rim of the Grand Canyon. The flight over just the Canyon part was about 1/2 hour. After landing at the Tusayan Airport, our group took a quick bathroom break and transferred to the Pink Jeep tour. An excellent balance of info, photo ops at unique visitas off the map and time to shop at Hopi House / El Tovar was provided. The box sandwich lunch was tasty - believe the vegetarians were happy too. It is said that you never see the Grand Canyon the same way twice (due to time of year, time of day lighting differences and seasonal differences). I booked the adventure trip for my husband's birthday surprise. We flew to Grand Canyon from Sedona, and helicoptered to the bottom of the canyon, followed by a brief boat ride, and then the sky walk experience. Our pilot for the Cessna flight was Bill, who was awesome. We had a blast - our group only had two other folks, so it was a very intimate experience. We will always remember it - great way to see the Grand Canyon (even if you've been before, totally different view) and surrounding area of Sedona - just beautiful :) Don't hesitate to do this one! read more
