My partner was scheduled for a tour, Saturday 1pm. Mind you, he flew in all the way from Maryland and was scheduled to tour right when we arrive. He gets to the leasing and the office was closed. He sees a lady in the office probably the leasing agent, and just completely ignores him. My partner sees a maintenance guy through the same door and tells him he's there for a tour. The maintenance guy looks back at the leasing agent and then tells my partner she is on lunch and to come back at 2pm...They scheduled him for 1pm, which is apparently their lunch? This is completely ridiculous and unprofessional. Would not recommend this place. Very negative first impression. Staff was rude. read more

Westwood Park Apartments - Apartments Near Me - Lancaster, California

We moved out a year ago so I've taken enough time to reflect on my experience at Westwood. Pros: -Area is secluded and safe: you don't really see or hear your neighbors so that can be a plus for most people. The location of the apartments is away from outsiders so it's pretty safe too -Parking is abundant: pretty easy to find parking or space in or around the establishment. Never have to circle around for additional parking - proximity to stores: close to Walmart, Vallarta, Home Depot, fast food spots. Never had to travel farther than 5 minutes by car to get mostly what we needed. -privacy: adding on to the first bullet point, we were never bothered by the property managers, we would only contact them when we needed something Cons: -Rarely restocked new dog poop bags around the dog stations so poop was commonly found around the grass. Crappy dog owners fault but there should be some enforcement or preventive actions (restocking bags) -Gates were broken 75% of the year we were there so it did take away the whole "gated community" aspect -uneventful: more of a personal opinion but the place is pretty boring, there's no sense of community or culture. It's a place to live in and that's about it Neutral: Appliances: pretty standard, no complaints Why the 3 stars: The reason why I'm back is because the summer heat has brought back old memories. During the high 100 degrees summer days, our A/C was out roughly for about 1.5 months before we moved out mid summer. The weeks leading up to our move out date were brutal with constant apartment temperatures of 90+. We reached out and they did send out their electrician to help but it only initiated a wild goose chase. The electrician would argue that their fuses/electronics are working and that the AC company needed to fix their unit and vice versa. Multiple visits from both sides led to nothing. The property managers did provide us with a portable AC to fight off some of the heat in a single room but it should have never been our only option. We could not utilize our other areas to cook, do laundry, etc unless it was night time. We had to decide to stay imprisoned in one room all day or endure the heat and try to live normal lives. The AC never was repaired while we were there and we were glad to finally leave ableit drenched in sweat from loading everything everything into a haul in 90+ degree temps. Although management tried to help, they weren't able to and we suffered as a result. My 3 stars doesn't represent their efforts but more so that their resources were inadaquate to resolve this issue. Had it not been for this situation i would rate the place 4-5 stars. They did try and were kind the whole time so im optimistic that things have improved. This place was recommend to us by a friend and they really enjoyed their stay at Westwood. So without issues, the place is nice. The most unprofessional experience I've come across. I had a tour scheduled a couple weeks in advance for 9/6 1pm. I walk up to the leasing office front door a few minutes early while talking on the phone and notice a woman walk up to the window and look me in the eyes as well as an open sign on the door. I wrap up my phone call at 1pm and go to the door to walk in. The door is locked and the sign was flipped to closed. Some maintenance guy comes to the door and opens it while I can see the leasing agent seated at her desk. I'm confused why the leasing agent is so scared to help a prospective resident and hide behind the maintenance dude. I tell him I'm there for a tour and he stares at the leasing agent who's cowardly hiding at her desk. When he looks back he tells me I'd have to come back at 2pm because they're on lunch and I said I had a scheduled tour at 1pm. He responded with the same as before. I cannot just come back in an hour I had a scheduled tour for 2pm and a day full of tours l. I came over from the east coast for a day to search for a place to stay while I'm working over here. How come they scheduled a tour during their alleged lunch time? They're chasing away new residents I guess. Does the managing company want staff who turn away customers? Don't bother looking into them, they'll just close the door on you. Can you imagine how they go about addressing resident issues when they can't be bothered to help a prospective resident? Instead of coming back I told the random maintenance guy to tell the leasing agent I wouldn't be coming back. This was already made an easy decision given my later appointments with West Oaks, Park West, and Vello Crossings. Wanted to write a quick review of Westwood Park Townhomes in Lancaster, CA. I've lived here for just over 8 years, and I have never had a bad experience with any of the staff. The maintenance guys have always been helpful and responsive to any of my maintenance needs. The front office staff have always been friendly and knowledgeable and helped me with anything I've ever needed. I had a rough start & horrible experience from a sister property in Lancaster. Transferred from there. Love the space & the town home itself is really spacious and nice inside. Closet space in each room is amazing. Kitchen is small but garage is huge trade off. Property is very nice, extremely clean and well kept. Very quiet, neighbors are kind. The day I received keys the maintenance guy replaced a battery for the smoke detector. (Should have been done prior to my visit) Not even 30 minutes pass after maintenance left, I realized that the disposal did not work. Great guys!!! * Above the washer and dryer, (shelf) there were dead bugs and a thick layer of dirt. * Carpet was filthy...urine stains and dirt tracks throughout the carpet. The community manager attempted to block my visual of two pet stains with her feet, but I noticed them as well called it out and she said they weren't pet stains. Guess I was born yesterday. But remember... I've worked in property management for years, so I know better. I'd asked the manager on the spot,...saying "if I start to seriously smell pet urine within a week or month, will you guys clean the carpet?" Immediately she said no adding "we only clean carpet at renewals". WOW.... So I went back to my old place to GRAB MY BLACK LIGHT!!!!!!!! Guess what?????? PISS PISS PISS everywhere (aka cat and or dog pee stains). * No one showed me how the thermostat works. * The stove is filthy (images below) * The dishwasher has roach Feces along the inside boarder. (Images below) * I purposely asked the manager if the filter was changed? And she confidently replied "yes".... she didn't realize I read the panel and it read "change filter, 114 days past due" (Image below) * Not every room was painted because I'd notice dirt around the vents in every room. And not every room will require painting however, cleaning vents and around them lets renters know that you take pride in your community. I don't know!!!! * Black AMG (Apparent Mold Growth) along the wall in the living and dining room. (Images below) By the way, I'd asked the manager "what is that? Is that mold? She immediately said no and asked the maintenance guy to get the "goo gone"...it didn't come up...now if he conducted the maintenance for the unit...he would have known that shit wouldn't come up...anyway! Because the community manager didn't appear to know what to say nor attempted to ease my mind, I threw out a suggestion... I'd ask "hey, if this becomes an issue (black mold) can I replace the floors at my own expense?" She said "no, you're not buying the place" CLEARLY I FUCKING KNOW THAT!!! The corner on that wall smells like cat/dog pee. And perhaps the previous tenants had plants along that wall which is why the black mold is there. Makes sense!! And it's not about fucking decorating the fucking place, it's about my health and my sons health when he visits....and if replacement of flooring puts me at ease, then, I will do it. * A gallon of paint was holding down a piece of laminate flooring when I first walked in 4/12. I further investigated and realized that it's pretty damaged. In fact, it's very crunchy if you run your hand across the area. Must have been water damage. * I'm sure the community manager didn't think I noticed her giving her maintenance guy several eye contact, visually saying " OMGOSH, he's annoying". Oh, I've taken procession of this place on 4/12 and it's now 4/21...of course the overwhelming strong glazed countertops Oder smell worn off (property management trick) so I can really smell the cat/dog pee. * I Did not receive a courtesy call/email to check in on me by the way. Which confirms what I've been saying this entire time that I'm just unit such and such. The motto is SHUT UP AND PAY YOUR RENT. * it's 6/3 and MOLD is in my unit. Which I'd identified during my move-in, yet nothing was done about it. Simply brushed off. In my personal opinion, under new "in house" management, this place would be wonderful. Unfortunately, management displays a lack of compassion, professionalism, and self awareness to know when their body language screams "fuck off". I work upwards to 60 hours a week if not more and I have to take time out of my days to deal with this shit. Pure laziness...managing from behind the desk kind of managers. Not once have I ever seen any of them making their rounds on foot or golf cart, touring the community. You know, if either of you toured the community, residents would see that there is a heartbeat onsite from management. read more

Was going to move in to these then the move in price jump from 1670 to 3200. They said the 2400 was MOVE IN RENT. Then I'd have to pay another 1.2k for prorated rent. She told us it was 1670.00 to move in, the prorated + deposit. Why did this change I dunno but when they tell us the price honor that price. Don't email people a week later saying you messed up. And raise the price. And wtf is move in rent. The word rent means.."living in the home, pay the landlord. Our move in date was Nov.18th. read more

So I've been living at Westwood for almost 2 Years now. Thought I'd give an update on how my stays been. In my first review I mentioned how one of my packages had been stolen. Well, that happened a couple more times. I asked USPS, UPS and FEDEX to deliver my packages to the garage from now on. So far they have complied with that request. However, ONTRAC and DHL don't. Something that's been bothering me is not having a security screen door. I'm not sure what they were thinking when they built this place. Just one door with one lock. ( not including the garage door which is exactly the same) Going the right way when entering and exiting the complex is not enforced. I've now had two occasions where I was entering the ENTRANCE and out of no where someone come rushing out the wrong way nearly causing an accident. While being here I have a new neighbor who is a chain smoker. This individual goes out side frequently on the porch to smoke. Since my bedroom window is above their patio the smoke goes directly in my room. Once I left my window open while I was at work. When I came home my bedroom reeked of cigarettes. So take that into consideration if you want to live here. You may end up in a unit like mine with a neighbor who smokes. Also, the cigarette stench goes into my garage because the neighbors patio is by the dryer vent. I am extremely sensitive to the smell so this has been a huge issue for me. Homeless people sneak onto the grounds at night and dig through the trash. Not sure how they get in but every now and then the gates do get stuck open. One night I left around 1am to the gym. As I was leaving a white van with what I could see was a driver and passenger waiting at the exit. When I exited they came in ( the wrong way). A gut feeling and curiosity got the best of me so as I drove away I thought to go back. As I came back through the entrance in less than 3 mins the same white van was lurking and exited trough the entrance as I came in. SUSPICIOUS MUCH? ...we have security but I rarely see them. They should do a better job of making their presence known. read more

Westwood Park Apartments in Alvin is one of the worst managed complex es I've ever lived in...There is no weight limit of dogs, so you have 100 lb dogs pooping everywhere, and the complex smells like poop...The police are instructed to do a drive-by on a daily basis due to drugs being bought and used on the complex...My apartment smells like Marijuana and after I complained, management told me I'll have to just get used to it? If you have an emergency (pipes busted, no ac, etc...) you'll have to wait until they get back to the office, to get the issue resolved. The office is closed after 5, and also on weekends...The complex also has a rat problem... read more

* A Diamond In the Rough* I lived here from June 2014-November 2014. The unit is very comfortable and much more spacious than surrounding communities. I stayed in a 1 bedroom town home, with a garage. It always felt safe and had no issues with insects. Neighbors were polite, and I never heard them during the day / or night. The AC had a problem but was addressed the same day, maintenance was helpful and fast at addressing any issues. The office staff was helpful and still cared after paperwork was signed I miss the unit already (moved away from Lancaster). --Summary: Westwood Park is not just a great deal for the area, BUT it is one of the better apartments I have ever stayed in. My husband and I have lived in this community for about nine months now and have never had any problems. When we first visited the office we were greeted with smiles and welcoming hellos from the entire staff. That was a great first impression. Amber Hand was our leasing agent, and she was extremely helpful and very willing to work with us. The unit we wanted wasn't available at the time of our visit, so we started paperwork on our second choice. By the time our paperwork was processed Amber called and told us that the unit we wanted had come available, so we went back to change the paperwork and we got the one we wanted. Amber went above and beyond to make sure we got the one we wanted, and didn't just forget about us once we paid our deposit! Thank you to Amber and the office personnel for taking care of us. We still enjoy living here after 9 months. Great community to live in! read more

My husband and I loved our townhome in this community. The maintenance men never entered the unit without notice - unlike previous places where I have lived. If there was a problem, they fixed it immediately. The girls in the front office were always nice, greeted anyone who walked in, and were always helpful! Upon the end of our lease, I was so sad that we would be leaving this community. I loved everything about it. It's so nice to have your own garage and laundry hook-ups. If I had to complain, the only thing I would say is the front gates on each porch are starting to get old and became very hard to open towards the end of our stay. Also, our neighbors were packrats in their garage and their weird roach-looking bugs started to infiltrate our garage during the summer months. Not fun! read more

Lived here for 6 months. I can say the maintenance guys were extremely helpful and quick to assist. The fact that I know this tells you that several things broke. We got a 2 bed 2 bath town home and rented a refrigerator. When we showed up to move in there was no refrigerator and it took them 3 days to get one for us. The workout room was small but nice until the treadmill broke 4 months into our stay. I checked a month after it was reported to them and it was still broken. They have 2 pools which are cold, but refreshing. I'm not sure who had the bright idea to resurface one of them on the Fourth of July weekend, but that overcrowded the other pool. Also, with the town home the living quarters were on the second floor, with the garage beneath, so our electricity bill was about $150 on average, mostly due to the A/C having to run 8-10 hours per day. Plan on spending a little extra to keep the place cool. But we did like the setup because if there was any crime the intruder would have to come up a single stairwell to get to us, so we felt pretty safe. I can't say I hated the place. I would still say if you are looking for a garage this place isn't bad at all. Rent is a bit higher than other areas, but overall no real complaints. The biggest distaste came after we left. We paid $1150 security deposit, plus $500 non-refundable pet deposit and $25/mo pet rent for a cat. The disposition of the security deposit didn't mention the $500 or the pet rent. They charged $200 to paint things that didn't need to be painted. Garage walls and doors and stuff. They charged $807 to replace carpet due to pet stains. I can understand this is courteous to just have it replaced, but I think some of that $800 should come out of the $500 pet deposit, not all out of my security deposit. So in the end, I got $63 back from $1800. I read previous reviews saying they would keep your security deposit, but thought maybe it was a review from a disgruntled resident. They were absolutely right. First time I have ever not gotten back my security deposit. read more

Been here for a Lil over 6 months. The staff is very friendly and maintenance works quickly to fix your items needed. The grounds are well kept and nice for walks in the evening or mornings. It's is very quiet no noise complaints. The floor plans are open and spacious, I have a balcony and a small patio great for bbq in the summer. read more

When looking for town homes around the area one of my first concerns was security. Even tho its gated the gate is open during regular business hours for anyone to drive in there. When I went in there to get a tour one of the ladies was absolutely rude. She didn't made me feel welcomed. I've been here for six months now, and I love it! Amber was our leasing agent, and it was a super positive experience from the beginning until the end. She was always smiling, always positive, and in a great mood. It made the process so much easier. The townhomes themselves have been remodled and they look great. The community grounds are always clean, I never see any trash or dog droppings anywhere. The grass, trees, and shrubbery all look great and are well maintained. The maintenance guys are extremely quick in responding to maintenance issues. Overall it has been an extremely positive experience. My only issue is that the cost of a two bedroom townhome here are getting a bit outrageous. $1,700 a month for a two bedroom townhome nestled between Ave I and Lancaster Blvd shouldn't cost this much; however, I believe it also helps with maintaining a safe, clean and friendly community. Just visited there on Saturday and loved the place. I ended up renting a town home and will be moving in soon. They have extremely large living areas that make you feel like a real home. The down stairs have floors wich is a rare thing. The staff was very welcoming and I hope we will have a good experince there. read more

Been here for awhile. Like others I agree the maintenance crew are extremely helpful. Windows in all units have been replaced with ones to absorb the outdoor noise. One neighbor is noisy. They play their surround sound at least 4 times a week loud enough for me to move to another part of the apt so that I can hear my television. As far as the upgraded features mentioned in the previous review by Ashley M. (crown molding faux granite countertops, faux tile flooring), lucky for her, because I was told no upgrades like that could be done anytime soon. Faux granite countertops and faux tile translates to a layer of tile-like laminate for the countertops and good old fashioned linoleum for the flooring. Grounds are kept clean, nice and green, the pool, I can't smell the chlorine but was told it gets cleaned 2-3 times a week. All n all its not bad here. read more

The apartment itself is nice, but has multiple little things they try and hide with new paint (which is horribly painted) and the window need to be sealed better it lets a lot of the outside air in. The biggest complaint I have about this place is the women who work in the office. They are extremely rude and useless most of the time. They don't give notices when work is to be done to your unit, and if you try and call to get something fixed they take forever to put the work order in and most of the time they forget to. I would stay here after my lease is up, but due to the little things and the extremely rude and useless staff I will just go buy a house and not deal with renting anymore. Don't expect to get a corporate number to complain about the crappy workers here either, there is no one to call but the front desk for any complaints you have. read more
