While the space is modest in size, it's absolutely beautiful and perfect for a relaxing walk on a nice day. Since it was around 85 degrees, we put Luna's dog shoes on for the walk. We highly recommend using dog shoes on hot days-they protect your pup's paws from hot pavement, sharp objects, and even things like bees (Luna was stung once, so we ve learned!). It can take some time for dogs to adjust to wearing shoes, so be patient. Use treats and positive reinforcement when they ignore the shoes, even for a moment. It really helps make the experience more comfortable for them.

There is not easy access from the Interstate without a U-turn or a left turn and then a bit of a drive to get back. I'm not sure why it is that way, but traffic rules are traffic rules. Chipotle, Five Guys, Burkes Outlet, BJ's Wholesale, Starbucks, Jo-Ann Fabrics, Papa John's, phone stores, nail salon and more. It's a very big center. Getting back onto the highway is super easy. Walmart and Kohls are the largest stores, but you'll find a few specialty retailers too (Trek bicycle shop, GNC, and a gaming store). To me, Market at Oakland is a model of what a shopping center outside of town should look like- providing services rather than just stores- because most people shop online these days anyway. These businesses are close to home and meet your needs, like a hair salon, massage, banks, nail salon, and Firestone/auto care. Market at Oakland also has some great food options. I love Wasabi for sushi, and they have great lunch specials. Tropical Smoothie Cafe has some healthy options. There's also a Starbucks, McDonalds, and Chic-Fil-A if you want something small and quick. For people who live nearby, this is a lot more convenient than braving traffic to other businesses in Mt. Pleasant. The best way to enter, for me, has always been off Porcher's Bluff Rd.
