We contacted the owner regarding the radio on the first day. The owner did pull a radio from another boat and came to our house with the new one. Unfortunately only one speaker was working and we had issues with Bluetooth (the owner did test the radio when I returned and Bluetooth did work). Now onto the most shocking part. I returned the boat this evening and explained the issues to the owner. I told him that over the course of our 5 day rental, I had to fill the gas tank 5 times. We used the boat on average each day 3 hours per day (actual run time). We determined we were lucky to get 5 to 6 gallons per hour on an engine that typically gets over 10. Following my review of concerns, the owner started with I know people like you. He thought I was looking for discount and I told him that I was not seeking this and was trying to improve the outcome for the next renter. He then said good I am charging you the full price. I said that's totally fine. He kept insisting that the issue with engine was made up and a dented prop does not cause this issue. I thought we settled on civil terms and as soon as I began walking away, he started to yell sarcastic comments at me. I said you don't have to be a jerk now. He then said leave my property you fag and then something about my wife which I will not repeat. I stood there looking at him from about 30 feet away and he charged at me with his teeth grinding and yes his fists were clenched. He walked right up to my face and threatened to hit me. He then took his arm back as if he was going to hit me and I just looked at him in total disbelief. His young daughter was just a few feet away and she kept yelling Daddy stop, Daddy stop. I said to him is this issue really worth going to jail for. He then said I know the police as if assault is legal for residents that know the police here locally. Nevertheless, I walked away calmly and left. I'm sorry this all happened and I take no pride in writing this review as I am a small business owner. Unfortunately the owner of this company should find another line of business given he barely cares for his assets and he cannot accept the good, bad and ugly with customers. I suggest renting from Mitchell's Marina and go elsewhere.

We didn't know what to expect, but we ended up with several catches, including some we had to throw back (too long or too small), and we took 4 stripers home. We look forward to going up to SML and hiring Captain John again!

Nancy and Al were nice and very easy to get in touch with. The venue is basically a DIY since it only comes with tables and chairs, but you do get access for the entire weekend (Fri-Sun). Our only issue was that we wanted our reception to go late and at first we were told there wouldn't be a problem with that, but two weeks before the wedding Al told us we would have to hire security guards for the event. Not a huge problem but it didn't come at a great time since we were in crunch time.

We knew we were going to have 200+ guest so we needed a big enough place to accommodate them comfortably with plenty of room. The plan was for an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. The view from the venue was breathtaking and they fell in love with it right away. The price was good considering all that was included. All the tables, all the chairs - inside and outside, great open kitchen, two nice size bathrooms, nice size dance floor and also lights for the dance floor. A week before the wedding... it started to rain! Flash flood warnings all week long! The weather man said a few time, "Tropical rain like storms!" The stress started and worry set in! The day before the wedding we arrived at the wedding to set up. The whole way there it was pouring, roads had washed out in several places along with way. At this point we started to accept that plan B was now the plan! We set the bridal party up for the ceremony on the back patio with chairs for family and guest on both sides. We opened "the wall" that had full sliding doors and we arranged the chairs from there all the way to the dance floor. It gave the outside feel while all of our guest were cool and dry! It wouldn't have turned out better! Once the wedding was over the guest went to their tables for dinner while the wedding crew picked up the chairs to get them out of the way. Many guest thought that this was how it was planned all along! It was a perfect venue! There are a few things that I would like to see have a little attention too. Not a complaint at all but do feel it would be a nice improvement. 1) The curtains in the bathroom would be nice to have longer. They covered all they needed to but it was made many feel very uncomfortable. 2) A fan in the dressing areas. It got rather warm in there after keeping the bride in there most of the day. With 8 people trying to get ready with hair dryers, curling irons, etc it would have been nice to have a fan to blow on the bride at least. The A/C could not keep up with all of us hot women in one room! Hahaha 3) Please add a few more brooms and dust mops to the cleanup supplies. We could only find one regular broom and one dust mop. That is a very large room for just two. 4) Parking. Parking would have been fine for dry weather but in the rain many came in with wet and dirty shoes. I think if you could just rock that whole area it would be much nicer on the guest Other then that it was fantastic and we are very pleased with everything. I would highly recommend this venue and would consider using it again!

We love the venue, the spacious parking lot, the huge kitchen. The venue is absolutely beautiful. Our tablecloths and decorations are all included so this is pretty much a one stop shop for our wedding ceremony and reception. Chastity also gave us good ideas for dj's, florists etc. She is full of great ideas which she loves to share with you without pushing you. I cannot wait to get married here. It feels good to know these people know what they are doing.unlike most other venues, these people remain helpful, even after the entire sum has been paid. Great service. I would definitely recommend the vinton war memorial for weddings or other events.

Moms sip coffee while kids play in an enclosed play area. As a single mother I can't explain how much I appreciate this-only $22 for 2 children. The kids meals were $5.50, drinks $3. I got the best white chocolate matcha I've ever had for like $5. Every detail was thought about in the operation of this business. From the diaper vending machine to the thoughtfulness of the play area to the decor, the menu, the snacks. All you had to do was put a card on file and hold up the things you wanted to buy, viola! No swiping a card or anything. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the atmosphere was laid back and chill. There was staff keeping an eye on the kids. It was clean, bathrooms included. Despite the busyness there was no wait for food or drink items. Bravo. Please open one in Roanoke.
