They also close out options or straight out won't let you access things in order to submit papers. Expect to miss grades due to computer glitches on their end or unresponsive professors. Group projects are not actually group projects. One person will take the project and basically do all of it and not let me see it till the end. Voice any problems and people brush it off and tell you to work it out with the blatantly uncooperative people you are telling them about. Half the people that are given parking permits don't need to drive because accidents are regular in the area. Slamming on the breaks when the light is green is normal or blaze through stop signs. The tutoring isn't there for some courses. I called one, and he kept repeating to "not waste his time" and said he would give me the answers to the Java I was working on if I bought him something he called "the information." I didn't come here for this crypitic BS. I went to NMSU to learn. I didn't go to play some weird mindgame with whatever double speak the guy was on about. Stop helping people stalk/harass me. You're not filming a movie. They also had 1 teacher who shouldn't have been there. She barely spoke English, so I dropped her class in about a week. Then there was the time I was continually harassed to drop courses. I was trying to go to a local restaurant in town and got a call every 10 minutes to drop courses. I told them to stop calling, and they'd call back again. The food/resources/books are always available there. You became totally worthless after switching everything to online courses due to COVID.

The curriculum is also dated, or certain parts are updated while others aren't, which causes issues during the class in which the professor doesn't actually have the knowledge to assist with. I'm sure there are good advisors, but mine was a child. At the end of the day, you still get an education but if you're going to be paying for it, there are far better places to go to school.

This is a shame, because myself, my junior, and my deceased sophomore this year has LOVED the school until this year. This year, my students HATE going. Esteemed Governing Council Members; I am the mother of Malachi DeLanoy, the Sophomore who hanged himself in his closet on August 19 of this year. I told Cecilia Romero about bullying that contributed to Malachi's suicide. A student there named Alex (she has the emotional support dog Wonder) was the ringleader. Ms Romero assured me the student was dealt with and no longer attended the school pursuant to Dr. Amador's new ZERO-tolerance bullying stance. I found out that not only was she not expelled, she had NO disciplinary action taken at all. Additionally, Dr. Amador fired the vast majority of the certified teachers, leaving our core classes, math, science and possibly language arts without a certified teacher at all. Often the students watch movies in the cafeteria. Math has been like this since BEFORE Malachi hanged himself eight weeks ago! I asked for a meeting, and Dr. Amador HID from me, refused to take or return calls or see me face-to-face. I believe this was due to my telling other administrators I was going to report the lack to the State Board of Education. When I raised enough of a scene, he reluctantly saw me BEHIND CLOSED DOORS, with no witnesses for MYSELF, and told me, "You just want to be coddled" when I told him something like "Students come here for a different, gentler environment. It's the main thing Alma d' Arte had to offer. You need to be gentler." Malachi had been dead 54 days. This guy doesn't belong in a school aimed at artists. This is the same individual who told parents that we were not allowed to bring lunch to our children because we were going to "Sneak fentanyl in" for our kids. Seriously? THIS is the man we want watching our children? When I posted the above about being "coddled" on the Facebook page, I was BLOCKED. I am a PARENT of a student there still. I was told by Dr. Amador that he wanted parental involvement, but he obviously does not unless it supports HIS militant line. I visited Mesilla Valley Fine Arts Gallery today and, much to my surprise, I left with a beautiful…read morepiece of art tile by Bonnie MacQuarrie. The woman who helped me, Kerry, a ceramicist, was helpful and pleasant. The gallery is cozy and features 30 artists. The works were all affordable. My favorite artists represented by the gallery are the painter, Judy Bess; the photographer, Steven W. Martin; and, of course, Ms. MacQuarrie. The Mesilla Valley Fine Arts Gallery is a bit of an oasis amidst a square full of kitschy t-shirt shops.
