I wish that they would sell them fresh and hot. Being from the East Coast I know what a good pretzel is suppose to taste like. I tried cooking them in my little toaster oven and the first few times were not good at all. I followed the directions and cooked them at 400 degrees but I think that my oven got too hot and the crust was way too hard and the pretzel itself did not taste like a pretzel more like a bun. So I tried a few variations and finally had to cook them frozen at 350 degrees for 6 minutes on one side and then 4 minutes on the other side after flipping them. This worked great and brought me back to what an East Coast Pretzel was supposed to taste like. I liked the Philly pretzel way better than the NY style in that since it was thicker after cooking it produced a better and chewier texture for me. I was very disappointed in my first few attempts at reheating the pretzels but glad that I didn't give up on them.

Everything is so clean but it has a very good rustic and real feel to it. The drinks here are my favorite because to be honest, I'm a sours beer kind of guy and they have a whole building dedicated to it. The amount of variety when it comes to sours is great a prices are fair. Flavors pop but theirs also a good enough selection if you want a more chill sour that won't punch you in the face. The other building (not sure which is considered the main ones) has a large selection of your typical IPAs, lagers, you name it. The flavors are good and they seems to have some deals going on from time to time for cans to take home which I can appreciate. They also have a few board games to keep you entertained and seem to consistently have some options fora food vendor as well as many times having live music. Definitely worth the visit on a day you see them having one of these vendors or live bands you may be interested in. The people here seem to be very friendly with their regulars and greet you as if you're a friend. I think this bodes well with breweries considering you're usually here to have a good time and chill. I wouldn't say it feels like the reason I'd come back at all but no complaints here. Just didn't feel like out of this world service by any means.

There are rotating food trucks that come through and the outdoor patio is a great place for families with young children as well as a space to gather and listen to live music. They also have a whole cider house with sours and such so it's an awesome way to spend an afternoon in sunny La Mesa. You really can't go wrong with any of their beers, they're ice cold and the pricing is very reasonable and there's a huge variety. The day we visited, we also took advantage of the burgers from the food truck and they were very good!

Ahoy, fellow travelers! Captain 619 here, recounting my first visit to BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse…read moreon the occasion of Mother's Day. We sailed in with high hopes, eager to celebrate, and were fortunate to secure a table without delay. Yet, the winds of fortune shifted as we awaited our feast, for it took just over an hour for our meals to arrive--a long wait for such a cherished day. When the platters finally graced our table, I found myself hoping for a culinary adventure, but what I discovered was merely okay. The mashed potatoes tasted like the average fare one might find on a weary ship at sea, lacking the flair I yearned for. The Wagyu burger, a treasure I anticipated, turned out to be disappointingly lackluster, failing to deliver the bold flavors that dance upon the tongue. My wife, too, faced a misfortune when her chicken sandwich arrived made incorrectly, a twist of fate that added to our growing discontent. And alas, my water cup bore the marks of neglect, with food residue swirling within and clinging to the sides--an oversight that rubbed me the wrong way, I must confess. To add to my woes, a horrible stomach ache set in after our voyage, leaving me pondering whether it was the water or something else that led to this tempestuous trouble. Yet, in this storm of disappointment, the captain of the establishment, the manager, displayed true grace. With a kind heart, they reduced the cost of our meal by 25%, a gesture that spoke volumes, and offered us a complimentary dessert--a sweet act of class that brightened our spirits. Though the experience left much to be desired in terms of food quality, the management's efforts to smooth the waters were commendable. Here's to hoping that on our next voyage, the winds will blow favorably, and we shall find the culinary treasures we seek! Fair winds and good feasts to all! Captain 619
