I have an All Access membership and enjoy mixing it up and working from different locations. I visited this location while I was in the East Bay and I wasn't really impressed. I had an appointment nearby and figured I would make a day of it and work out of this location and walk around during my breaks... But an hour into being in this space I felt like I had had enough. I'm thankful that this isn't my home location. Vibe: Front desk wasn't super welcoming, even though I had shared it was my first time visiting. The shared spaces were all on one level, kitchen and then another room next to it with very little options for seating. The chairs weren't very comfortable. Because it was a small space, and I don't even recall seeing phone booths, I could hearing everything going on around me. Parking: This was a challenge. But maybe someone more familiar with the area would have an easier time finding parking. I found a parking garage a couple of blocks away. read more

I've been paying $339/month at WeWork Berkeley and the experience has been disappointing to say the least. When I signed up, the quiet space on the 5th floor was a huge part of why I joined -- it was presented as part of the membership. Now they've leased out that entire section, which is more than half the usable space for members. If I'd locked into a yearly plan, I'd be furious. On top of that, service is sloppy: staff often late, amenities (like the drinks on tap) regularly empty, and the overall value just keeps shrinking. This feels misleading -- you think you're buying access to one thing, then they take it away without adjusting the price. For $339/month, this is unacceptable. I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere for coworking space. read more

Common space is pretty albeit limited/cramped, and not all the amenities work all the time, but they host random events (like one time the staff offered us jello shots as we walked out, very unexpected lol), and the best part is the golden retriever, Kai! I love that this place is dog friendly, so for that, I'll add on a full star. Windows make a big difference. The first time my company worked here, we were in the biggest conference room, which doesn't have direct access to natural light (located in the middle of the floor with dim lighting), which left a bad impression. The other conference rooms with natural sunlight are much more enjoyable to work in. Usually the place is clean, but found food and a used knife on the floor of a conference room. It was there for days; I'm not sure if it's still there or not. read more

Although I've visited only a couple of the other locations, I have to say this particular building is pretty impressive. From the kind and helpful staff (shout out to Lindsay, Katy, Teresa, Lourdes & Chris!) to the artistic ambiance, this setting has been a wonderful place to work and maintain productivity while pursuing my master's degree. The community here is also great and features individuals from different walks of life with varying occupations and ambitions - all things that augment networking. The people here are also incredibly kind. Not a day goes by that I don't get the chance to engage in an interesting conversation with a fellow WeWorker. The 5th floor is a great space with booths, tables, and phone booths to get work done, grab a bite to eat, or conduct both formal and informal meetings. As others have mentioned, they have complimentary coffee, kombucha, and beer on tap. They also host Meatless Mondays that not only encourage a reduction in one's carbon footprint but also showcase the local eateries and their food. I joined nearly 5 months ago and despite having a few issues with my keycard (that were promptly addressed), I couldn't recommend this building highly enough. read more

OK FOR SHORT MEETINGS, CRAMPED SPACES I've attended seven meetings here on the seventh floor. The manager is curt and frowning every time she greets workers (we feel like we're bothering her if we need help) and space here is more *cramped (aside from the restricted open space common area on a lower floor) than the newer WeWork spaces. We prefer to talk to Lindsay instead, who is helpful and friendly. If the group breaks for lunch, they are *only allowed to use the seventh floor common area (which is really cramped from the other companies that use it too). I recommend the space in Oakland. (I've attended meetings there too.) It's better designed, newer, with more open space plans on every floor, lounge areas for group breaks. Plus the Oakland staff is competent, polite and really willing to work with the customers. read more

The space itself is clean and beverages are stocked. However there are few options for hot desk day use. Common spaces are small. I could not find an area to work in any of the common spaces that was not crowded, so I had to wear my mask the entire time. Meanwhile tons of conference rooms and office spaces were locked but empty. For $30 a day I expected a bit better. read more

I have called this place two times with no call back. This is after I sent a web inquiry about an office. I received an email back asking a bunch of questions which prompted the guy to refer me to someone else. No one responded to me request for more information. Not good! read more

I worked out of this wework location for around 6 - 8 months in 2017. I agree with all other comments. The front desk manager was curt and I always felt like I was a bother when I needed to pick up mail, get help or move desks (I worked in the open area). The space felt cramped and the collection of people there were kind of... lame? It didn't have the energy I have witness at other wework locations. read more

Nice and clean office space. People here are cordial and professional. I wish the phone booths were actually insulated. You can hear everything in the common lounges from the phone booths. 6 different kegs! One on each floor! Overall a nice co working space. read more

But when I just walked in with an intention to get information and learn about WeWork, a lady who worked there responded me "if you're not a member, LEAVE". Had a few issues when we first moved in, but things eventually smoothed out. The staff is always friendly and engaged with the community. They offer cool stuff like Meatless Mondays, ice cream, breakfast treats, etc. They also recently set up emergency evacuation protocols and conducted a successful fire drill. The only complaint we have is the noise - lots of loud talkers on our floor. We installed soundproofing panels, but it doesn't really help. Overall, we're pleased with our space as it suits our current needs. read more

Someone mentioned it in an earlier post, but to echo the experience -- the angry girl at the front desk should re-evaluate why she is even there as she seems less than enthused to be there. WeWork is an exceptional service model that is dominating the market for obvious reasons. Our company is spending upwards of $50k/month to utilize their private offices in several locations nationally. I have been to each one of these locations and I have receive exceptional service, so it surprises me that they would have such low standards for their front desk staff at this location in Berkeley. read more

Of all of the WeWork spaces that my company uses (from Boston, New York, Seattle) this one in Berkeley is hands down the best. Its unique interior designs gives you the artsy vibe that you need to feel awake and alive on any given day that you need to be productive. As per usual: the complimentary coffee, kombucha, and beer are all and always on point. But more importantly, what separates this WeWork space from the other is the vibe, culture and the hospitality of the staff. The positive tone is set from the moment you walk in! The welcoming smiles and eagerness to make you feel comfortable from staff like Lindsay, is honestly why i feel like everyone here is positive, which makes it my favorite Wework space to work from. WeWork Berkeley is my little work oasis. As someone who was working from home previously, I can't say enough good things about this place. They offer everything from a dedicated workspace in the group room to private offices for from 2 to 10+ people, possibly more. I have a WeWork workspace in the "cheap seats" - the group room, but it gives me everything I need, along with a fantastic staff, a view of the bay, great WeWork colleagues, beautiful lounge and meeting rooms, weekly fun and/or business related events, and some great speakers on topics relevant to any small or emerging business. Worth it. Big time. Also well behaved dogs are welcome, and it's just two blocks from BART. read more

WeWork has found a way to make going to the office fun again. I love working at the WeWork building. The best part about it for me is the community that is built in the building. The people who work the front desk (Ellery, Aja, and Zoe) are absolutely amazing and help create community in the building by connecting different people who work there. They create such a welcoming atmosphere. Along with all of that, the building is incredibly well designed which makes working there much more inspiring than your average office. read more

WeWork is awesome - it allows small startups and similar to set up shop in a great location, affordable and flexible. The Berkeley site is so great, I've been working there since around when it opened, have expanded my team, and have really loved every minute. there is something about their design, ergonomics, and staff that creates a really fun and pleasurable work environment - it is organic - no forced social networking, just social. I spent 30 years working for corporations, in cubicles or in offices managing people in cubicles - and I'm never doing that again. Good riddance to Corporate America, WeWork is the future. read more

A great co-working space in Berkeley, with enthusiastic and friendly community managers, and nice facilities. Space includes private offices, shared desk space and communal lounges. Members are respectful so working areas are quiet and it is a great place to concentrate and get work done. Lounge areas and conference rooms are inviting and functional, so also a great place to have meetings. read more

I was a member of WeWork Soma for about nine months when I was notified that they would be opening a space in Berkeley. I had never been so excited! I went that same day before the build out was even finished and put in my transfer to WeWork Berkeley. I knew if Aja and Ellery were going to be apart of this building, I absolutely needed to be apart of this building. I can't say enough about the beautiful layout of WeWork Berkeley. The views of the Bay are breathtaking. The energy that starts at the front desk is carried throughout the entire building. Not only was I welcomed into the space, I was encouraged to make my office my very own. I was assisted in the assembly of my desk and chair as well as the hanging of my wall shelving. The community managers were knowledgeable about parking garages as well as the many great restaurants, cafes and bars in the area. A huge thanks to Ellery for having lunch with me so I didn't have to try out the restaurants alone! read more
