WeWork have private offices for rent, which includes the complimentary coffee/tea in the shared kitchen, coworking space, meeting booths/rooms, etc. available for the community to use with their membership. Parking is not the best, it is mostly either paid parking garage/lot parking or street parking (metered). If you do not want to deal with driving/finding parking, BART is literally right there, so it is pretty convenient, just get off at the 12th St/Oakland City Center stop. There are a few friendly front desk receptionists to greet you as well. I feel like the space is fairly clean, and the bathrooms are always clean and fully stocked as well. My favorite part was definitely the many private booths (that look like telephone booths) available to use throughout the shared space to quietly get some work done for a short period of time (there is a time limit to ensure all members and guests have access to these booths). Overall, this is a modern and nice area to work at, but sometimes it gets a bit too loud. read more

The best shared working spot and the best team. SERVICE: Huge shout out to Erika and Kenya, who make 1111 a joy to work at. They are so friendly and positive, day in and day out! They go above and beyond to take care of everyone. Rachel and Erica are also all-stars. FACILITY: The space is always clean and well maintained. The coffee and beverage stations are huge perks. Plus, the holiday events are always nice bonuses and very well done (see pics). OVERALL: Come for the coffee and drinks, stay for the incredible service and hospitality. read more

There are things to like about this location - lots of space and work-style options, and I've gotten to know and like some of the staff. But as at least one other reviewer notes, the volume of the music is distractingly loud. I work from several different WeWork locations and this is the loudest by far. The staff insists there's nothing wrong and there is no channel to raise a customer complaint - so I'm making the complaint here on Yelp. Unfortunately for WeWork and their current financial state, they probably don't have the resources to monitor Yelp and address customer complaints. I avoid this location unless I absolutely have to be here, but I wish it wasn't so. This issue would be so ridiculously easy to address, but the staff is insistent on not taking action or even considering that it might be an issue. read more

Once upon a time, I paid for a hot desk at this location. I was so excited! Loved the multiple floor spaces, the chic and modern look, the telephone booths for calls. Then I discovered they have no system for dealing with non-compliant, inconsiderate, unsafe behavior by tenants. I had to constantly deal with people leaving locked doors propped open - a security nightmare. Eventually I fled after one of the tenants - a young, white, boorish male, had a total violent hissy fit (yelling, kicking furniture, swearing) in the middle of a shared space - I was forced to end my video business conference and called security. The incident was captured on camera. The response by WeWork staff to this total violation of house rules (that we all had to sign) and insane behavior? They " had a talk" with the entitled male. (WTF?!) He remained. I left. read more

After my "trial day" visit, I am a WeWork devotee FOR LIFE. Gone are the days of trying to find the right coffeeshop to turn into my office for the day, taking calls from noisy cafes, or getting stuck with crappy wifi. WeWork is the solution for remote workers or coffeeshop dwellers in need of better productivity. WeWork has all the great vibes of a hip cafe or cool start-up office, but with tons of design-centric space, wifi, outlets, private spaces to take calls or hold team meetings AND -- all the coffee, kombucha, cold brew, and beer you can drink!! It's like working at a cool office, without the coworkers, and without having to change out of your yoga clothes. I'm starting with the We Membership, which gives me 2 days of using the space per month for $45. Perfect for my occassional work from home days. You just can't put a price on a comfortable, productive work environment! read more

This place is a great option for persons who work from home. I like coming here to meet with my colleague and always find it pretty productive. Pros: near plenty of public transportation. Bart, ac transit etc. Cons: music can be loud at times. Bring ear plugs if you find that type of environment to be distracting. read more

I had an appointment with someone here, and was originally very excited to check this place out. Although I checked in with my ID at the front desk, my contact person was not notified of my arrival. This caused our scheduled meeting to be 15 minutes late. When I got a hold of my contact person, they urged me to go to the front desk and ask for them by name. When I did go to the front desk and ask for my contact person, I was told, "Yeah, they're probably still in a meeting." When I explained that my contact person asked me to ask for them, presumably so that I could be ushered to their offices, I was again told (in a higher, more irritated tone) "YEAH, THEY'RE PROBABLY STILL IN A MEETING, KEEP WAITING FOR THEM." I was so shocked by this person's rude and condescending behavior, that I just gave up. These offices seem very nice and hip, but had such an ominous feeling, maybe it was the dreary day, maybe it was the unfinished construction on the building, maybe it was the unprofessional management, maybe it was the hopeless/irritated/bored look on everyone's faces but, yeah I will not be scheduling any meetings there in the future. read more

This is a nice place in downtown Oakland. I attended a volunteer meeting for the Black Joy Parade and really enjoyed the vibe of this office space. There are lots of open tables to do work or study. They have small rooms for group meeting with big screens, and individual booths for those that need quiet. There's also a lounge area for people to sit comfortably and chat, kinda like the friends coffee shop vibe. AND they have kombucha on tap lol. read more

I, Alexis, am a global access member through 2U, Inc and the University of Southern California. This review is a complaint regarding inappropriate and unfair customer service received from Maddison Cervantes of WeWork's City Center location in Oakland, California. I have included the exchanged email conversations between Maddison and myself; to summarize, I felt antagonized by a security guard, not employed by WeWork, and was denied access to WeWork despite having the proper access card. I emailed citycenter@wework.com because I was very upset about being denied access and told I needed a second card to enter the CityCenter tower. I felt that Maddison was in support of the security guard's antagonizing behaviors that kept me from using WeWork by disregarding how this situation made me feel uncomfortable to return to WeWork Oakland. This email exchange made me feel more traumatized and frustrated. I understand that security is imperative, thus I did not Maddison to reiterate that to me in a lengthy and condescending, as evident by the multiple exclamation marks, fashion. Another inappropriate move in client relations is telling us how to feel, " This should make you feel good as a WeWork member that we are so secure!" This is downplaying my frustration by minimizing the issue at hand. I feel that if Maddison had started with her final email to me, which recognized that I was frustrated, and updating my level of access granting 24/7 entrance, which should've been available to begin with, then I wouldn't felt inclined to email WeWork Corporate. I believe that associates should acknowledge and assist their clients, like myself, when we reach out with our concerns, not make them feel worse, as Maddison did to me. My complaint was about not having access, despite having a WeWork card. Second, she, essentially, did't acknowledge how I felt in her first email. Overall, my experience with Maddison was disappointing and I feel that she, along with other WeWork community associates should be reminded about sensitivity and professionalism when handling client interactions. read more

Been working here for a few months and it's one of the best co-working experiences I've ever had. We've searched around other offices in the area and trialed them; they just don't compare. Reasons it's so great: -Location is perfect; right off the BART station. -Proximity to lots of good food places for lunch and the farmers market -Private office spaces have a ton of sunlight and great views of the city -Tons of phone booths, across 3 floors. Phone booths are ESSENTIAL if you're the type that makes calls/has webmeetings a lot. It's such a critical part of running a business. I hate co-working places that don't have phone booths, they really need to take note -Lots of meeting rooms that can be booked with an app -Free beer/kombucha on tap, we've used it quite a bit for team bonding for customer/investor visits -2 Expresso/Latte machines; one of them offers Almond milk -Water with fruit essense on tap -High ceilings and an overall modern feel. Very motivating environment to work in -Lots of younger-ish people/startups/entrepreneurs trying to change the world If you're more into the super professional/traditional office environment, this environment may not be you. But if you're more into the startup/tech culture trying to make a difference, you'll be around the right crowd. read more

The Meh: Some of the private offices have really loud hvac, don't have great temperature control, or have noisy neighbors. Bring your headphones, even if you get an office Advertised: All the free coffee, team, kombucha, cold brew, and beer you want on tap The Really Disappointing: Kombucha: Always surprised when it's actually available Cold Brew: Until recently was slightly more available than kombucha (slightly). Current line from staff -- "We're taking a break on cold-brew for now because we have so many types of coffee available." Types of Coffee (Almost Always) Available: Regular Coffee: Avg standard brewed caffeinated coffee in carafes. (no decaf) Plenty of dairy and one type of almond milk available Espresso Drinks: Ok, from a machine, no decaf, dairy only Other Drinks generally available Fruity ice water: Fresh fruit and ice are added to big glass containers, they do a pretty good job making sure these are full. It's a nice perk. Tea: Available during business hours, 8-12 varieties, honey, sugar, Beer: This is a recent re-addition to the mix. Right now it's a kolsch and pretty meh. Still, it's free beer starting at 2 pm if that's your thing. Since it's recently re-introduced and I don't tend to drink at work, not sure how often it's available. read more

Weird environment. I absolutely recommend this place for college students or anyone going to hang out I guess and do a couple things on their laptop. For a actual work environment, it's not necessarily my cup of tea. Seems to be a super chill laid back setting with not a lot going on. I made an appointment to take a tour of the facility and was told to check in with the front desk. After waiting for about 10 minutes I was greeted with a "what's up" and not a pleasant welcoming. If you choose to work with WeWork there isn't much privacy going on and you do not have "private" work space. What they call a private area for rent is a small cubical isolated by see through windows and everyone can walk by. I think this place is great for start up college people because it seems to be a social environment that provides free beer as you work? I guess I wouldn't recommend it for those who need a more professional work environment but for everyone else this may be your place! read more
