Tried to use my benefits today and the card wasn't accepted. Looked in the portal to see if there was a problem and look at that, my account was froze due to another claim not being reimbursed because of insufficient documentation that stated the date wasn't clear. My god, what else do you people need? You were provided a receipt from the Drs office, with the date/time/services listed. Also I received zero communication that my benefits were froze, nor that this claim was denied. I checked my emails, my spam box etc, and nothing was there. This will be the last year I use this FSA program. The $200 I save goes right out the window each time I have too deal with these people to sort out my benefits. read more

One of the worst creditors I have ever seen. I started knowing Wex Bank by getting Marathon gas card for our company's fuel needs. I didn't know this financial institution before requesting gas cad by Marathon. With their first statement, they charged us $10 statement fee which we weren't informed about it and when I called the customer service, the representative gave me credit and enrolled us in online statement. It was interesting that we never see that credit in our account. In their 3rd statement, they charged us $75 under the name of finance charge for absolutely no reason. I said to myself enough is enough and I cancelled our company's account with them immediately. I believe they are robbing the un-educated contractors by nonsense fees and charges. So, I'm telling everybody to be careful and do NOT do business with Wex Bank. They are horrible people. read more

I just had another denial from WEX, for something that was clearly a medical expense. If the payee says "Anna Jacques Hospital" and I attached 3 receipts, wouldn't it be logical to assume that it has to be related to a medical expense. Crazy! This is a horrible product/system. I have had HSAs and FSAs with other providers that are not only more user friendly and intuitive but are also far more intelligent. Service and response rates are poor and denial communication always lacks detail and appears automated without actual document review. Example - The fact that you need to take a photo and scan receipts to then upload to their website in the year 2026 is incredibly antiquated. By swiping your FSA card, the credit card is already taking all of the merchant information. Doing so again is redundant. Imagine if Visa, Mastercard, Amex or others all required you to upload paper receipts to complete transactions as well... kind of defeats the purpose of the card right? If your employer is considering using WEX I strongly encourage you to reach out to your HR department and share these reviews or select a spouse's carrier as your primary instead. I recommend Health Equity over WEX but I am sure there other good ones as well. Other reviewer's comments of "this is a scam" "awful", etc are all valid. Don't be surprised to see this company on public news soon. Look them up on Better Business Bureau (bbb.org) and leave reviews and details there. Hopefully it will actually cause change. read more

Truly terrible. I have used FSAs before but this one isn't like the others. Pure hell. The amount of claims denied time and time again is crazy. They will tell me I need to submit this doc and then I do. Denied. Then they deny it for another reason. I had a doctor visit co-pay of $15 they denied. I spent about a month getting so many documents to get that paid. It is FSA open enrollment right now for my employer. I asked my employer if we are still using WEX? She said yes. I said I refuse to use them moving forward. I am not signing up for FSA. I would rather pay out of pocket than go through this hell. Finally, when you call them you always get routed to a call center in India. It is beyond difficult trying to deal with them. Each time they review the docs the reason for denial and what they need changes. I asked to be transferred to a US based supervisor and had my question knocked out within 2 mins. Each time I spoke to other agents it took 30-60 mins. Avoid Wex! read more

Avoid at all cost! They will fight nearly every claim and for example, you can't get the EOB from delta dental's website so you also can't submit for reimbursement. While on a call with Wex, I also learned that if I separate from my employer before I empty my balance, they send the money in my account back to my Employer! Yes, to the employer even though it came out of my check from my account. Clearly a for profit scam between Wex and my employer. Advice: Go through the trouble to fight every denial. If I could give this company zero stars, I would. This has been an absolute "shit show" from day one. Before you sign up for their services through your employer, be warned: they have zero respect for your privacy or your time. The Issues: Intrusive Demands: Even though this is your money set aside for medical use, they demand line-item documentation of exactly what happened during your doctor's visit. Zero Privacy: You are forced to hand over private medical details to people who are not part of your medical team and have no business seeing your history. Abysmal Service: The customer service is bottom-of-the-barrel. They are dismissive, unhelpful, and make it clear they don't care about the customers they are supposed to serve. Bottom Line: This company is shady and bureaucratic. If I had known how difficult they would make it to access my own funds, I never would have signed up. WORST company EVER (If I could give negative stars, I would.) This company has been an absolute nightmare to deal with. They denied my FSA-eligible expenses even after I provided receipts, written confirmation from FSA, and was told by their own representatives that the charges would be approved. Despite all that, they refused to approve the expense and have been giving me the runaround since April. To make matters worse, they cut off my FSA card, leaving me unable to use it for medical appointments, essentially forcing me to pay out of pocket for something that should have been covered and I never would've purchased otherwise. WEX is one of the most dishonest and predatory companies I've ever encountered. I never activated or used their fuel card--not once--and decided to cancel before doing anything with it. Despite this, they've repeatedly attempted to bill me, first for $45, now for over $100, for absolutely nothing. When I contacted their customer service, I was assured that my account was canceled and my balance was zero. That was a lie. Their word means nothing. They are deliberately misleading customers and engaging in what can only be described as fraudulent billing practices. What's worse, they've been completely unreachable since then. I've attempted to get a response through every channel--LinkedIn, email, phone--and received nothing. No accountability, no resolution, just ongoing harassment in the form of bogus bills being mailed to my home. Avoid WEX at all costs. I attempted to get reimbursed from my WEX HSA for my husband's out-of-pocket dental expense, but he was no longer listed on the account. The reimbursement page said that if the person isn't listed on the form, you should add them as a beneficiary. Weird, because he's been on the account back before I was laid off, but whatever. I was unable to add him as a beneficiary, as the website said his information was already on the account, but "inactive". So I called the WEX customer service line, where I was informed that: * My husband is on the account as an authorized user and signer, but not a beneficiary. * Because I'm no longer at my old company, they can't add him as a beneficiary. * Even though he's an authorized USER, he cannot USE the HSA because he is not a beneficiary and there's no way to add him because I'm no longer at my job even though it's our money in the HSA and my spouse should be allowed to use it. not worthy of a single star!! this place is awful they are the cobra payment administrator for my wife . we have paid for each month one month ahead of time. my wife has been told her insurance was terminated at every appointment she has had since being on cobra . she is currently fighting cancerand has multiple treatment and appointment each month.. everytime we have to call the insurance company, who has to call wex and verify coverage. now her quarterly PET scan has been postponed due to their incompotence. the insurance company has been as helpful as possible. the agents even know us by name. it's a shame that you work hard, pay your debts and a company with this sort of incometence stays in business. you can imagine the amount of stress for my wife at the absolute worst possible time. I have worked with several FSA administrators and, as an HR consultant, recommend various providers to my clients. Unfortunately our parent company uses Wex to administer our internal FSA plan and I have continually been disappointed with EVERY interaction I have had with Wex over these last few years. Their customer service is clueless and less than helpful. Resolving issues takes several phone calls. They send forms securely through Mimecast but then expect you to return documents with PII to a different email address unsecurely. Um, what about using the portal on your site to transact sending forms - or is that not secure. Run! Do not consider WEX for benefit administration or your employees will be extremely frustrated. read more

Wex is BY FAR the WORST benefits administrator that our company has ever used. They require receipts for almost everything and are never satisfied with the receipts provided. They "punish" you by turning off your debit card every 5-7 days, making you call them to reactivate it. Really handy when you're in a crowded doctor's office and your card is decline. WEX administered my COBRA for my previous employer. I couldn't afford COBRA, so decided k would end coverage; I submitted a form to end converse. A month and half later, I realized they had been withdrawing payments from my account without my permission for the past three months. Aetna can confirm that I did not have coverage during this period. Well now it's 2.5 months later, and I still am waiting. Do these people not understand that when you're on COBRA, you aren't working!?! Hence have no income? The today my former employer send me this email that WEX sent her: To process this refund, we must first allow the funds to go through the Remittance process. A refund can only be issued once the funds have been received. If WEX collects sufficient funds from other participants during the March remittance period, we will allocate those funds toward the refund. HOWEVER, if there are insufficient funds, a negative remittance invoice may be issued at that time to request the necessary amount for refund. Once the funds are received, the refund can be processed. Are they serious? My former employer acknowledged that I am owed a refund. The fact that I am now being told to wait until WEX collects funds from other people is not ridiculous...How can a company operate like this? read more

The receipts needed for self explained MEDICAL charges, where it even states the HOSPITAL name is ridiculous and then they make it next to impossible to get the receipts over to them when they've decided that the 4 uploads they allow on the website weren't sufficient. Then they don't respond when you send additional breakdowns. Our own COO has 2k worth of denied charges from her ENT for surgery. They take your money, tell you when and where you can use it, and then when you use it... they then deny your claim. I used my "benefits" to purchase a mattress from Nectar. I received a letter of medical necessity from a doctor (this is just as much an indictment of Trumed as well) they got it approved by WEX. MY money, held by WEX, was approved to pay for a portion of the mattress. I get the mattress and 4 months later, I receive an email from WEX stating that my claim was denied. I now owe them $700+ dollars for a mattress that I had a letter of medical necessity for. How TF do I owe WEX for using MY MONEY?!? Trumed is just as guilty, pushing all this stuff through, knowing that these things eventually get denied. Long story short, the tax savings you get with these accounts does not outweigh all the money they keep when you don't use or when they deny claims AFTER the prior years claims were denied. The require SO MANY receipts/breakdowns and for literal VISITS TO DOCTOR'S OFFICES, and then when I submit the breakdowns for these doctor's visits, they require more documentation, and several times they have been denied.
