I had surgery on December 2024. I had a balance of several hundreds of dollars that I wanted to use to pay for the remaining balance. I was told that since we are past March, that money could not be used. In the past, WEX always gave more than 6 months to use the remaining balance. I asked multiple times to speak to a supervisor & have been told that they were not available. Francis, who I spoke with, told me there are no exceptions & no one to talk to about this. He also told me there isn't anyone at WEX who could help me. This is my money that I have earned. Why can't i talk to someone else? I highly doubt that Francis is on the WEX board. And they want receipts of everything & many times when I have tried to upload, the app is down. This company has always been difficult & I wish my employer would switch companies. read more

If I can rate a negative zero, I would. Literally the worst FSA company I have ever dealt with from the last 15yrs of having an FSA account(s). Be prepared to upload your receipts for EVERY charge, even if it's directly from a Dr's office or hospital. And your chances of it being initially denied is 8/10. Oh, and they'll freeze your account without warning. I called in inquiring because my card wasn't going through. I was told it was to get me to call them and if it happens again, no worries, I can just call them, and they'll unfreeze it. Dumbest crap I've heard. Additionally, customer service agents need to be trained better - they do NOT know how to explain denials (or really anything pertaining to your benefits), they just repeat their answer without truly explaining anything. You have to escalate to a supervisor to receive any information. If you have one that attempts to give a reason, it's incorrect and you just wasted time on the phone and time tracking down additional unnecessary receipts. Not to mention, they either don't have access to your full account/dashboard or don't know how to read it. They will tell me to call back when I have the receipt in hand, despite it being uploaded on my dashboard. I've made 6 attempts over the course of 3 months to understand why they approved 11 claims but denied 4 for the same place and same reason - because no one could explain why. They just tell you to upload another receipt. After several escalations, I was told it was due to an oversight on their part. I was told the 11 "shouldn't" have been approved but it was their error, so they'll have to take that loss. Absolutely terrible. I used to promote FSA to all employees, now I don't even try. The convenience and tax benefit aren't worth the trouble. read more

Very, very disappointed in WEX. Their FSA/HRA cards are worthless. They never code transactions to my proper account. They hit FSA funds when they should hit dental or vision. I went to their website and they recommended FSA store for "all FSA eligible goods". I went there and found an Oura ring. I used my card for FSA funds and they charged vision. FOR A RING. Then they denied my claim saying it wasn't FSA eligible even though Wex said it was, FSA store said it was, and Oura Ring said it was. When I returned the purchase, I had to call because 27 days later they hadn't applied my refund to my card, so my FSA balance looks ~$336 too low heading into the last few days of the year. Frustrating morning Wow, WEX Benefits practices some unethical methods to keep members' money, including not having accurate account information on the WEX account information page, continually redemanding already submited paperwork from medical establishments of Dartmouth Hitchcock and Convient Care. Now, after calling and speaking to someone with broken english, making it extremely difficult to understand the technical information they were reading, WEX demanded I send in my Insurance explanation of benefits (EOB) . I am resubmitting already supplied medical bills that they want more information, leading even the Dartmouth Hitchcock billing department at a loss of what more they can add. I will never, ever use a WEX Benefit FSA card to try to save in federal taxes as WEX operates in a fashion to make it extremely time consuming and difficult to use one's own money. If I could leave a review less than 1 star, I would. Stay as FAR away from this company as you possibly can! Unfortunately, I signed up for an FSA with my employer and didn't know anything about WEX. It's been nothing but issue after issue!!! The money I was supposed to have rolled over from last year ($650) is all of a sudden nowhere to be found. Each time I call I get a different story. They tried to tell me that my employer terminated their contract with them and that forfeited any money that I had tied up with them, however, my employer STILL uses this company. So, it's an obvious line of bull crap! The Customer Service agents are all rude, disrespectful and just not helpful at all. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! It's difficult to get in touch with a non-robot, and they drag their feet if/when you try to close your account (to transfer, rollover, etc). I submitted my first request to close my account, three weeks later I was informed there was an issue. I submitted a second request, four weeks later was told there was an issue. I submitted a THIRD request, and was told it would be approved and I would only need to pay $25 for them to close my account - ridiculous considering that they also charge me a $3/month account fee! read more

Wex is incompetent from start to finish. First I had the displeasure of being assigned their FSA account through my job. They deny receipts by default! There is always something "wrong" with the receipt and it makes me think they're trying to get you to keep your money in their account as long as possible for the interest, or some gain due to your forfeiture, I'm not sure what the motivation is. Recently I had to buy COBRA coverage through them, because in addition to terrible FSA handling, they decided to get into the COBRA administration space as well. They charge a $20 fee for a $70 dental premium - every month! And not just for credit cards, you could mail them a cashier's check and they will still charge you. You could give them your checking account number and they will still charge you. That's a 28.5% per month fee!! And for COBRA elections at that! Most everyone knows that people who need COBRA are out of work, and it's just evil how they charge such an exorbitant fee to people who were laid off. read more

It has been over a month, 2 no response email support requests ("we'll be in touch soon"), and a phone call from me letting them know at the start this was coming. I've processed one payment using my Wex card, that might be the only positive thing thus far. This has been, by far, the most frustrating and disappointing customer experience I've ever endured. I've called four different times, each time waiting on hold for over 45 minutes. When I finally speak with someone, they either can't provide an answer to my question or give me the runaround. I've been paying COBRA premiums for three months, yet I still do not have coverage. Their refusal to make outbound calls to help resolve issues is beyond frustrating. Instead, they put you on hold again, only to promise that a manager will call back within 24 hours--yet that call never comes. It's infuriating that this company operates like this, especially when dealing with something as critical as healthcare. Expecting people on COBRA to sit on hold during normal business hours without resolving anything is completely unacceptable. After reading other reviews, it's clear I'm not alone in this experience. This pattern of poor service feels unethical at best and borderline illegal at worst. To anyone considering this company: save yourself the stress. Wex has taken the notion to block my use where I cannot access my money that I deposited for my FSA. When called, they barely speak English and continually repeat the same things. They are irrational and unprofessional. In short, they stole $1,100 of MY money (locked my account balance so that I cannot get my money or use my money). My HR did not help me. Wex said in leau of providing EOBs for dates of service (dates that I received no service) I could repay them. Wex wants me to repay Wex for the money that came from my pocket! Double dipping. There are a lot better cards out there that are just as effective and save you more money. This company feels like they are run by AI and you can't resolve anything without contact them over the phone and going thru their long phone line to try to talk with someone. Everything gets denied, and then you get the approval and then it gets denied 4 months later. You can only upload two documents to send them info on your claim, due to their poor designed website, then you have to send everything in a separate email, and then it gets denied and then you have to call them and then they finally notice the email I sent with all the other 10 pages and then it gets approved. Still getting denial letters when we are paid in full with all our medical bills. I would avoid using them if you can. I separated from my previous employer on the last week of February 2025. I received my cobra paperwork 13 days after my separation. I immediately paid the enrollment fee (1500.00) I've now paid my second months payment (another 1500.00) and still do not have insurance. When you call the 800 number, they say they sent it to Bluecross and refuse to make an outbound call to blue cross to try and fix. I asked for proof that they sent it to Bluecross and they said they don't give that. i have made 13 outbound calls in the last six weeks to wex and BlueCross trying to get this handled - no luck yet. read more
