Situated next door to Harborne Convenience and stocking a similar range of items you'd think Weymoor Post Office would struggle a bit but this is a really well stocked, well used corner shop which sells everything you'd expect - newspapers, crisps, sweets and general groceries seem to be the most popular choices but if you can navigate past the queues of people waiting for the post office you will also find beer, spirits and a range of quite nice cards. The Post Office itself is run by a really lovely man who is extremely helpful and obviously held in affection by the 'regulars' - e.g. people collecting their pension, e-bayers and people from the surrounding shops who use the counter service to pay in money. It is also the first place I ever worked - for a terrifyingly archaic sounding 2.50 an hour and sometimes I still get a sweaty neck when I see the till. The last thing to mention is that they are one of the few places I know in the city who 'do' bus passes. read more
