It deserves all five stars as Yvonne and Ray, the owners, have accommodation to offer that is as good, if not better, than any 5* hotel. The rooms are very spacious, are full en-suite and spotless. Parking is safe and free and there is a free wifi internet service available. Situated in an exclusive avenue that leads to a cul de sac ensured that our sleep was undisturbed and as for the breakfasts - they exceeded all expectations in both choice and quality. This would be a good base to explore the Jurassic coast from, whether by bus or car. There is a steam railway to Swannage from where you can take an open topped bus tour to Bournemouth. There is excellent walking in all directions from the castle and there is good eating in the village. We will certainly return.

Freezer facility Easy access to Durdle Door beach, although you do need a certain level of fitness because the path slopes steeply and there are some steps. Lulworth is around a mile and a half away along a cliff top walk - also quite steep, but there is another longer and more level route (not accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs). Plenty of farm and wildlife to see and hear if you keep an eye out. Do take earplugs if you are a light sleeper - it's one large rookery! Camp on the 'field' rather than in the trees for a more quiet time of it. I really cannot recommend this place enough. If you don't like tents, there are static caravans ('mobile' homes) for hire and also places for your own caravan, overlooking the sea. Everyone should go!

Normally I find that hotel restaurants are stupidly expensive with subpar selection, service, and quality. This is not the case with this hotel's built in eatery. I'd go so far as to say it's worth it to come here JUST FOR THE FOOD! We each had the broccoli and stilton soup with the burger. The soup was rich and creamy with a very delicate flavour. The burger was possibly the best I've ever had. It was massive. The meat was flavourful, perfectly seasoned and cooked. In many cases a burger is defined and made by the surrounding compliments, but I could eat the meat on its own. Speaking of the condiments, however, it should be noted that this was the most well-dressed burger I think I've seen. It was served on top of what I can only describe as a toasted mini baguette, topped with melted cheese and a green aioli that really complimented the meat. If you live around this area, I highly recommend it. I now wish I'd tried some of the more expensive menu items, but I'm a student so I'll save that for a future trip. The waitresses were also very kind and attentive, and though there weren't many other patrons, we received our food quickly. Edit: We went back for dinner on our second day. I had the braised lamb shoulder and it's very difficult to say which is better, the burger or the lamb. The chefs are artist. The shoulder came with some greens and a creamy mash. The arrangement is topped with a sauce that I can only describe as tasting like a sweet hickory gravy with what might be called slight asian and fruity accents. It's amazingly tasty and equal to if not better than the aforementioned burger. I highly recommend this place.

It was very encouraging to experience the good welcome and kind service, even when it is a small item. Observing the interaction of the staff with clients was also encouraging. The atmosphere was one of how can we make your stay a pleasant one which is a very good recommendation for a Hotel. The ambience was good too and everywhere you looked you seemed to receive the message we are cared for. There seemed to be a good number of guests and a pleasant atmosphere. Global Nomad

Breakfast not included, but you can book, dining area for food throughout the day, Bar. Small free paking area. lovely twin bed, recently been painted to a high standard, smallish bathroom, but very nice. Tea/coffee in room, there should have been a tv, but there was not. Negative point was that the people in the above room seemed to pace up and down the room creaking their floor boards to the early hours. Not far from the BIC, was straightforward to locate

I attended a wedding here…read more First when making the booking as per the wedding rate, they confirmed over the telephone, and confirmed different details by e-mail. I had to chase them to get the right details. When booking in, I said I would pay for both rooms. They required a credit card, which was fine, and then asked for another for the other room. I got them to finally understand I was paying for both rooms. I have no problem with hotels employing Eastern European staff, but those on the reception desk must have a good command of the English language. The room was OK, not brilliant, but OK. It is a 3 star after all. The en-suite was quite big, and designed for the disabled. Requested the use of an iron and ironing board, after three requests it finally arrived. The ironing board was stained, and it was only when I was using it to iron my sons new shirt that I realised that the stain was coming through onto the shirt. I was livid. I managed to disguise it as best as I could. Children can only eat in the restaurant before a certain time, and I think it was 5:30 pm, not absolutely sure of the time, but it was difficult for us. So we ate out. The arrangements for the wedding were very good, and the food was fine. Breakfast was something else. Waiting too long, and there was only three tables being used, so not rushed off their feet. One of the waitresses was sullen, and almost dropped the plate in front of you. They were less than attentive. It is not a hotel I'd choose to stay at if visiting Bournemouth again.

This is rather nice. Very very nice…read more I went to a 'do' here, and this is also used by a local school for Balls (as in dancing and wining). We had champagne on the frontsteps and patio. There is a sweeping driveway, which makes for great photo opportunities as the students arrive for their ball. The gardens are exquisite and the entrance to the hotel truly romantic. Except it's not the entrance. You have to drive to the back of the hotel on Grove Road. The 'front' of the hotel overlooks the sea. This hotel is very tasteful with out being overly grand. I'd love to stay there sometime.

We arrived at the Park Lodge B&B 17/08/11. It looked a little 'spooky' as the building pre-dates…read morethe castle. Henny, the owner suddenly appeared smiling and welcomed us in. It was as you would expect as you entered, very rustic but as we climbed the stairs to the attic room I was very pleasantly surprised. The room was totally modernised but kept simple in design. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. We were the only ones staying that night so it was peaceful and we felt very refreshed in the morning. Breakfast was served in the dining room which was delicious. I would say the interior felt a little chilly but with a radiator in the room we were warm in no time. A lovely stay. Many thanks to Henny for her professional and social skills.and to the two dogs we never actually made their acquaintance!!

We paid top wack for what my family and I expected to be a 4* cottage and we are experiencing way more luxury and cleanliness in our 3* hotel. Cheap fixtures and fittings. Not finished to a high standard. Showers are painful to use as spray is overly aggressive. Curtains and bed covers were dusty resulting in 2 of us needing to take anti-allergy meds. We were woken 3 out of 5 nights at 4am by owners walking around outside on gravel. Makes this cottage a 2.5* at best! Not impressed! Seriously does Visit England really rate this cottage 4*? Shame as it's spacious and has good potential to be a nice home from home.

I mean, we're talking about a spotlessly clean…read more5 star lovely self-catered cottage in a quiet corner of the country just outside of the New Forest. The cottage (we stayed in the Keeper's Cottage) included all the amentities you could want, such as comfy leather furniture, a dreamy superking comfy bed, good showers, and lovely original artwork by the owner in all of the rooms. Pretty, but not overdone at all. My partner was pleased that there were tv's and dvd players in all of the rooms and some DVD's were provided as well, along with games and loads of brochures offering ideas about what to do during our stay. Just as lovely as the inside, was the views from our personal gated patio. We looked over onto a quiet horse pasture which is known for featuring deer (though we didn't see any on our trip unfortunately). However, every morning when we woke up, a lovely dark brown rescue pony grazed just outside our bedroom window. Farm cats wandered by now and again, and fat curious chickens came for a visit every day as well. These were the same chickens who provided us with farm fresh eggs for breakfast. It was incredibly peaceful hearing the horses neighing across the field to one another or the owls hooting in the evenings. Just the sort of romantic get-away we had been craving. That being said, there's plenty of room in the cottage for groups too. However, if you opt to leave everyone else at home like we did, there is often a discount available for only using one of the two bathrooms and/or not using the extra bedroom. This isn't as central a location to the New Forest as lots of other cottage options, but you can't beat it for privacy and solitude. The owners seem like very kind people who seem to be up for a chat if we want one, but more than happy to leave us alone if we prefer it, which we respected. We loved that all the fixings for tea and/or coffee with yummy biscuits was waiting for us when we arrived. I can't say enough good things and we can't wait to go back again someday!

We stayed here last minute on the late May Bank Holiday and had a great time. We are a young couple…read moreand although this isn't the place to go if you want pubs and clubs, the hotel was clean and tidy with service everyday and we were made very welcome. We had a beautiful big room with big windows and a balcony overlooking the beach. We stayed 3 nights and it was very good value for money with breakfast included. Only criticism was that breakfast was served between 8:30 and 9:00 which doesn't give you much time for a lay-in. All in all, a great place to stay in an excellent location.
