I have had the worst experience with the care here. While I liked my pa and her assistant, hence my giving more than 1 star, the front desk staff/reception, as well as the pharmacy, were non-responsive. Over a 2 month period, I have tried (and failed) to get prescriptions sent to my mail order pharmacy. Were they concerned that the delay in my receiving my prescriptions might seriously impact my health? Heck no! They chided me for my frustration, and on top of that, lied to my face, saying that I hadn't seen my pa in over a year (um, no, it was last December). These people just don't care. read more

Awful experience. I went in to get a prescription for my anxiety and depression and the PA literally told me "fake it until you make it" then gave me a prescription for medication that didn't help. She seemed more concerned on making sure I was up to date on COVID boosters than actually treating what I made the appointment for. I'm extremely dissatisfied and will never go here again. read more

I wish I could post with zero stars. Working here is an absolute joke, and I couldn't even imagine being a patient there. I was hired with no medical receptionist experience, but was so excited to learn. (I was promised to get training since I had receptionist experience but none medical wise, the assured me it was no issue at all) The 4 other girls that worked the front desk (with the exception of one girl, Brittany) made me feel like I was dumb for asking questions, showed me the bare minimum, and never bothered to include me in anything. (Not that I was there to make friends, it would just be nice to be acknowledged once in awhile) The only way to learn something is to ask questions, right? I must've missed something. I asked questions that I thought were beneficial and were appropriate for my position. 3 weeks of training, and the SECOND day of me being on my own after those three weeks, I was met downstairs by the office manager Terra, who told me I was let go. Wouldn't give me anything as to why they decided to let me go. I know Colorado is a right to fire state, but come the heck on. I was so beyond bummed and shocked. I got home and asked her why I was let go, begging for an answer to ease my embarrassment, for one, and so I knew what to avoid the next time. Finally, I was told "we let you go for behavioral issues" what??! "A doctor and a patient noticed" noticed what exactly??! I never had a problem with ANY doctor there, nor did I have issues or confrontation with any patients. She wouldn't explain further. Wouldn't consider giving me a second chance. How about instead of lying to someone, just say it isn't working out and let them know the actual reason. And quit freaking lying about something they supposedly did. The morale is insane there. All a bunch of cliques and full of favoritism. Cutting it close to HIPPA violations as employees sit around and gossip about patients. Extremely rude front desk girls who could care less about the patient. The main Dr's (there's 2 team Dr's with others below them with less than great knowledge) are so busy they throw their patients to someone else who 9 times out of 10 are less qualified than they let on to be. Just do yourself a favor and don't bother working there or becoming a patient. You'll leave disappointed whichever way you decide to go. The only upside to working there was the free lunch that reps brought daily for the employees. Otherwise the place sucks the life out of you, and very quickly. read more

I would like to thank Sara and the staff at Wheat Ridge Internal Medicine for their kind, caring and professional service. My aunt was so relieved that Sara took the extra time to answer all her questions and was genuinely concerned. You are all to be commended for the work you do. I've been a WRIM patient for a very long time. My mother was taken care of by them and she absolutely loved Dr. Krebs and so when I needed a primary care office that is who I went to. They USED to be a top notch doctors office. Absolutely the most wonderful doctors who were just great to work with and really cared. Now they don't. It's simply a money factory now. Their doctors are actually pretty good doctors, it's the how the practice is run that is frustrating. To be honest, I would have given WRIM ten stars fifteen years ago, now I wish I could take stars away and give them a negative because it's nearly impossible to find many good things to say about this office. They now run their office with PA's more than doctors. If you want to see an actual doctor then good luck and enjoy the many month long wait to get a good one. You can see one of the new doctors relatively fast but they are not very good. The last time I asked to see one of the longer established doctors it was a 3 month waiting list. In addition to the points I've already made, once you are there it's horrible. The wait times are insane and once they actually get you into an exam room (30-60 minutes after your appointment time) then you'll wait another 20-60 minutes to see someone with absolutely nobody giving you a status update. If you have a 10:00am appointment you'll be lucky to see a PA - not a doctor - by about 11:00am if you are lucky. And when you finally see them you will be treated like cattle and your appointment might last 5 minutes so they can churn the next money machine. The PA's at this office are little dictators too. I've never had a good experience with them. They have denied me refills of prescriptions because "they thought it wasn't needed", I had to confer with a doctor to get them. They have also denied my handicap authorization, telling me "I didn't qualify and it's not just a free pass for better parking"! I had to point out to them that I had a documented PHYSICAL CONDITION and that they were mistaken. Their response to this was "oh, I suppose you do qualify after all". I'm not sure which is worse, the fact that they don't know the ONLY FIVE REQUIREMENTS for the authorization or that they judged me without knowing anything about me or my medical history. Along with all of this they have this wonderful policy of making you return to the office to refill prescriptions after 6 refills (sometimes 12, usually 6 though). This is the straw that finally broke my back. I've had two very minor prescriptions for 20 years. Neither of these drugs are hard drugs, they are not dangerous drugs, but they help me control a very common condition that millions of Americans deal with - mine is just a bit worse. My latest refill Walgreens called them SIX TIMES and NEVER GOT A CALL BACK TO REFILL. Finally they called the 7th time and were told that I needed to make an appointment to get my refill. They might as well said "we don't make money from you refilling prescriptions so come in, waste 2 hours of your time and give us $150 to permit you to refill your 20 year old prescriptions for another 6 months". If you call them don't ever plan on talking to a real person, always the automated attendant and voicemail. If you want to schedule something then leave a message and you'll likely hear back in a day or five - but you WILL hear back, they want your money. However, if you want or need anything else from WRIM that doesn't involve them getting paid, don't expect to ever hear back. Ever. So, after two generations of my family going to WRIM, 20 years for myself, I'm moving on to someone else. Avoid this money machine at all costs if you want good health care. I have toyed with moving to a new doctors office for many years, but never had I thought I would get so disenchanted that I would do that AND write a scathing review online of them but it's gotten too far out of control and they really just don't care about their patients at all. Oh and by the way, in response the the previous reviewers note of their phone system being down for two weeks. It is STILL DOWN. Basically you cannot contact WRIM in any form or fashion other than their web site. So I cannot even call them to set the appointment to get my prescriptions refilled. read more

I've been going here for years simply because I didn't have the energy to switch (I also go to a lot of specialists). Every time I go, I see a different PA (never a doctor), and this last time was the final straw. I don't feel listened to, I don't feel like they are taking me seriously, and worst of all, I don't think I'm getting quality care. I guess that's the downside if being the youngest at the practice by 40 years - must be hard to take a "healthy" person in their 30s seriously when everyone else in the waiting room is on their last breath. read more

My experience started with WRIM with my elderly mother. She sees Dr Stan Elzi. He is the only reason I didn't give a lower rating. I started seeing (when they let me) Dr. Stan Elzi also. Again, I have a very high option of him. The problem is, both with myself and my mother, the office keeps scheduling us with bimbo CNA or PA's who are HORRIBLE! The do a very incomplete diagnosis, mis diagnose, and act like they really think they know what they are doing. But after many (8-10) times of dealing with these bimbos, I'm considering trying to find a better office. I haven't seen an actual Dr. In about a year, both for myself and for my mother. read more

I am unsure where to begin with Wheat Ridge Internal Medicine. Dr. Mix is consistently late. The office called me to reschedule my yearly physical because something came up in HER schedule. I understand. Life happens. I rescheduled to another day for a 7:00 AM appt (first appt. of the day) so I would not have to wait. The MA (who is very nice) took my vitals, told me to undress and put on the tissue garment and she would let Dr. Mix know that I was ready. I sat on that cold table with a tissue wrapped around me for over 30 minutes. During that period, NO ONE checked on me. No one came into the room to tell me the physician was running late or to notify me they are calling the doctor to see where she was. They just let me wait. To my dismay, I dressed and left. The time is 0745. On the way out, I had one of the front office gals take my name and phone number(s) so that I could speak with the office manager, Julie Chappell. It has been two weeks since this appt. and I have not heard back from the Office Manager Julie Chappell or Dr. Jennifer Mix. I received my medical records a few days ago and read in the dictation "patient left without being seen". She signed off on this at 8AM, 1 hour after my scheduled appt. She never even called to check up on me or ask me why I had left. This is very poor patient care, unprofessional, and inconsiderate of YOUR patient's time. I am unsure if Wheat Ridge Internal Medicine has a mission statement, but I can say in confidence that its not exceptional patient care. I would never recommend your facility. Im really disappointed in my visit with Dr S. Elzi. It had been 2 yrs since I ws able to get by his PAs and NPs and office staff to see him and that was only when the phone person was told that my specialist asked that I see him When I finally got in, for pains under my rt ribs, I said it was over two years. He said that wsnt long! Ive been going to WRIM since the late 1980s. It has sure changed. Dr Elzi felt my tummy and listened to my heart and stomach and said he was ordering blood panels to ck for issues and to see if my anemia had returned since I had a blood transfusion for this problem in the past year. It was to be a 20 minute exam, which Im sure will be billed that way to my insurance. It was maybe 10 minutes. He said he would be in touch when the labs came back and we would go from there. The medical asst came in and took the blood and said I could go. I did. The next day someone called me - not Dr Elzi - she said that it was good news that all my tests were fine. I asked if he was going to see me about the pain, that maybe the ulcer I had in the past wasn't bleeding yet but the pain was there. She said he left no message and she didn't know, but I could call and make an appointment with his PA or NP. I never have heard from him, and its been four days. I will wait and see my specialist who I know is always very busy, but has time to see me. In fact he usually deals with problems because I cant get into Elzi. I agree with others, his PAs and NPs must be right out of the class room and not experienced. They had a PA named Liz Cowan who ws great. She located my anemia and rushed me to have the transfusion. I could always get a message to her, and she would follow up. She didn't last very long, probably saw the flaw in the management and went to another practice. Don't know where they are getting these nurses who seem to be running the practice. I would change primary doctors but with the long history with this clinic and my age, I feel it wouldn't be practical. Maybe they are trying to get rid of older people! I could always get in to see Dr Wm Elzi when he was there but not Dr S. Elzi. A shame. read more

I was thoroughly disappointed with the care I have received from Dr. Federico. I had made an appointment to see him as I was having such severe abdominal pain. Not only did I have to wait 55 minutes before they took me to a room, they were calling other patients that had came in after me. After finally getting into a room, Dr.Federico enters the room and notices I am in tears. Instead of being concerned about me, he snaps"what are you crying about?". Not only does he have lousy bedside manner, I have caught him lying to me more than once. Do not go to WRIM. Unless you like a doctor such as this. And 1 little side note, the phone system has been down for over 2 weeks and is to this day, STILL DOWN!! Shows how little they care about their patients. read more

Ive gone to Wheat Ridge Internal Medicine since early 90s. It has really gone down hill. Dr Wm Elzi was great and really cared but since he left I was assigned to Stan Elzi. I never get to see him and after complaining I finally got an appointment. Boy was that a waste of time and effort. The attendants weighed, took vitals etc., and then the doctor came in. He never even looked at me and started asking questions and checking it off on a sheet of paper he had in front of him on his desk. I told him my pain and where it was and he then ckd while I was sitting in the chair. He said he would order a Scan and let me know. He wasn't with me more than five or 6 minutes but billed my insurance for an extended visit for I t hink it was $285. They later called and said my scan was ok. I asked what I should do about the pain and the phone rep said that I could make another appt with an RN Np if I wanted to. Money making outfit that uses RNs more than doctors. However, on the bright side, I luckily saw Sara NP, she is amazing thorough, caring and a bright spot in their practice. She is helping me and concerned with my issues. It is because of her t hat Ill keep going to WRI = but like all the other good NPs she will probably go to another job .Some of these NPs they must get from the bottom of the barrel because they are weird and not very caring. I just came back from my first appointment at Wheat Ridge Internal Medicine and was so pleased with the experience, I signed up with yelp just to write this review. I had been having a hard time finding a reasonably priced clinic to help me refill several prescriptions--my insurance doesn't cover doctors' visits or any of the medicine I take, so it is hard to get treatment I can afford. NP Maryann Sudmeier was so helpful in finding inexpensive means to get me the medicine I need that I ended our appointment with a hug! She went above and beyond what I have come to expect from other practices, easily saving me hundreds of dollars. I am so glad this clinic was recommended to me and am extremely grateful to Ms. Sudmeier. read more

My wife and I have been using Wheat Ridge Internal Medicine for about 5+ years now and have been consistently satisfied with the care we receive. We have always been able to get in to see a practitioner within a day or two and often the same day we called. Their Saturday half days are also very helpful. We especially like that the practice caters to seniors so the aches and complaints of the elderly are not just blown off by some family practice practitioner. Yes, we do have to wait sometimes, especially at peak times, but usually we get to see someone pretty quickly. This is a large practice so it's always to get into see someone. I recommend WRIM to any senior. read more

She has messed up my prescriptions constantly for 2 years. Please don't wast you re time and sanity by going to Wheat Ridge Internal Medicine. Worst service! Physicians and staff do not care and there lack of professionalism is apparent. The professionalism of the organization as whole is inadequate and second rate. There phone system does not work properly and when they do answer, they will put you on hold again. The administration does not care, endless hold to make a simple follow up appointment. I started going to Wheat Ridge Internal Medicine in 2004. I was referred to Dr. Scott Allan. The first time I went is the only time I ever saw Dr. Allan. Since 2004, I have gone back each year for either a check up or with a sinus infection. Every time I have been back I see a different Doc. This was not too much of an issue for me up until the last few visits over the last couple of years. The physicians and staff have become such a disappointment. I am not even sure they should be practicing medicine. They actually told me that mucus of color was not infection, really? I will not be going back and I highly recommend finding another clinic. We went to the Little Clinic at King Soopers off Alameda and Wadsworth and had a much better experience, fyi! read more

I saw Dr. Scott Alllan and I felt like I wasted my $35.00 co-pay. He acted annoyed with my complaints and lack of interest in my concerns. This is why I don't go to Dr.s because they get annoyed if you tell them you didn't take any pain medicine. I usually see Dr Stan Elzi and I will wait the extra time if I have to see a Dr. again. This group (aka WRIM) was very amenable, etc when my parents started with them, then I started going to them. In the beginning you could depend on spending at a bare minimum of 1-2 hours waiting to be seen from your appointment time. Today I experienced the "straw that broke the camel's back" and have just changed my primary care physician to another group. I was in approximately 3-4 weeks ago. The practitioner looked on the computer and assured me my referrals were still active, etc. I called to make an appointment with the specialist, that office could not locate my referral. I called WRIM their referral person talked to the specialist's office and located the referral. I made my appointment, I went to the specialist, filled out all the forms and then was told that I did NOT have a referral. This morning, after a little over a week, I get a call from WRIM stating that I have to be seen to get a referral. They have also been promising an internet "patient portal" since I had been back with them (after losing insurance a few years ago) that has never materialized. My last set of lab results I requested that a copy of the results be sent to me. You ask, did they?, and I answer NO. read more

I have been going to WRIM for several years and love the PA's and Dr's on staff. They are very friendly and always try to do their best to schedule patients, even on Saturdays. The office is always very busy and can be hectic at times; however, the staff are always courteous. It is unfortunate that the other review had such a negative experience however I have nothing but good things to say about the Dr's and staff at the clinic, including Dr. Mix. So my family has been patients at this practice since Dr Stan Elzi was still in medical school. I myself have been a patient for around 20 years off and on depending on insurance carrier. This office used to be amazing. Today I saw Emily Piala a PA whom I have seen before and been pleased with. Today I came in with symptoms of bronchitis, and a sinus infection. I have been sick for three weeks and have been in so much pain I haven't been sleeping. She checked my lungs, but didn't bother to tell me whether they were clear or not (am indication of pneumonia). Asked if I had been coughing but didn't address it. . . No cough syrup offer anything. Told me to take two puffs of the inhaler she was going to give me and prescribed antibiotics. Didn't tell me what the antibiotic was or what the dosage was. Lastly when I asked for refills of prescriptions that she had prescribed to me before she refused saying that is office doesn't prescribe Benzos. I have a seizure disorder and had a prescription for Valium. I had 15 pills and hadn't asked for a refill in 2 years. I understand that some people abuse this medication, but I use them when and only when I have a seizure. Her haughty elitist attitude was disgusting. Her beside manner was lacking. And when there is a flu going around killing people and the area in which I am in pain, sometimes is diagnosed as meningitis, her level of care was ridiculous. I find it interesting when I hear of doctors losing their livelihoods after they misdiagnose a patient and are named in a wrongful death suit. Emily Piala is definitely headed down this path with her inadequate care. If you do go to this office after reading this ask for Mat (he is a PA) or Dr. Stan Elzi. Everyone else's incompetence is alarming as I have dealt with pretty much everyone in this office. Dr. Krebs, please come back!! read more

I am a new patient of Dr. Jenifer Mix. I think She is wonderful. A very good listener. She is well liked by others in the medical community. I've heard only good things about Her! Terrible, Terrible, Terrible. Do your self a favor and read the hidden reviews. They accurately reflect my experiences. It is hard to believe but my experience is worse than the other one star reviews. I'll can relate to them and will add just my recent experiences. I've been a patient for 3 years and can't wait to the end of the year to leave. Dr. Frederico is the worst I've experienced there. Instead of keeping my appointment with him. He made me wait for 1/2 hour and then sent a nurse out to the over crowded waiting room to discuss my ailment in public! And then denied me from seeing him! I thought I'd got smart by requesting an appointment with a real MD in September and was told I was lucky to get one scheduled before Christmas. Last week I was curtly told in a telephone call that my annual physical was to be with a nurse and that it would be March until an appointment could be rescheduled with an MD. Watch out for the flu shot scam. They will hit you with a single dose and bill your insurance for a double like they did to me or if you are like my wife double dose because you are "at risk" and then bill your insurance for twice what you are expecting. If you want to know the cost of a procedure before you spend your hard earned money you have to make an appointment with accounting who can only provide a non-guaranteed estimate.
