I am both a pilot and an aircraft owner. I only say that as I can speak from experience and authority on this topic. WheelsUp bailed me out of a transportation jam in Europe at the lowest cost anyone was willing to do it for, and I am incredibly grateful. That said, it was still double the normal hourly rate for my type of aircraft. Candidly, their pricing here in the states is astronomical as well. I only got their membership because of an incredible promotion with Amex. If you are able to take advantage of any of their hot flights or Inspirato deals, those two things alone could justify the cost of the membership fee. Otherwise, if your intent is simply to join and think you're going to fly private from LA to Vegas at an affordable price, that's not happening. As of the time of this review, they want $24,000 for that round-trip in a light jet, which is almost triple what it should cost! Their sales team is incredibly responsive, but now that I am a paying member, I can't get my "dedicated" customer service rep to call me back. read more

It was pretty decent to start, but the past year has gone downhill. Delayed flights, cancelled flights (no notice, while already at the FBO, planes with no working internet. We don't get updates 24 hours in advance anymore, we have to call and wait on hold to find out what FBO to go to and get a tail number, if we do not call, we have no idea -no emails and no calls from them. Also the price has nearly doubled in the last year. Flights from SNA to Las Vegas were about $10k (still a little high, but within range), now they are $17k-19k one way for a Very Light Jet (lowest class of jet). I cancelled my service with them and moved to another provider, much happier now. read more

I have flown with NetJets several times and never had problems. I foolishly tried WheelsUp but should have paid attention to the numerous poor reviews. WheelsUp made both legs of my trip needlessly stressful. They sent very little info leading up the trips. I had to call in to get tail numbers and any information necessary. Both times the planes were down for maintenance (which we found out right before the trip). On the first leg their plan was to reroute us to an airport twice the distance from our hotel as our original airport and at a much later time. Flying commercial has sadly been a much better experience. Avoid. read more

Every flight (7-8) that we have taken has had issues: delays, mechanical problems, water leakage, birds flying into engine, airport closure, electrical issues, out right cancellations, can't find a replacement plane. We have heard every one of these problems. Our trips have been disrupted and cancelled. If this is happening to just one customer, how many others are experiencing similar issues. read more

My family and I are members of Wheels Up charter service. We had the most unpleasant experience possible with them. We were supposed to fly out of Hayden Colorado 1/4/25 on WU at 10AM. They called that morning and pushed the flight back to 2:15 and then to 4PM and finally cancelled the flight leaving us stranded. After over and hour on the phone they determined that they could get us out on Monday! That was 2 days after we were supposed to leave. They made the excuse that weather was to blame, but I called another charter company who got us home the next day! We could have gotten home commercially cheaper and easier. I would never recommend this company to anybody. As a follow up, no one from the company ever called to check on us or to offer any type of apology. Use them at your own risk. Feel like missing an important meeting or an entire day of your vacation? Fly Wheels Up! If I could give 0 stars, I would. There is always a "maintenance issue" that will delay your flight for hours. Extremely unreliable and disappointing. This is not a one time occurrence, it is every single time we fly with Wheels Up. Staff are unwilling or unable to help. They are full of empty promises and outdated aircraft's. We will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

This company has a clear lack of communication between the staff and people flying, and a bottom level management style. It is Unacceptable to be treated this way. wheels up is a completely unprofessional at every level within their organization. From the management who doesn't communicate to the customer to the pilots who pick and choose when and where to land no matter if it affects the customer. They don't seem to realize or frankly care that people pay good money to fly with wheels up. The CEO and board should really contemplate and maybe take a class on how to run a business right. read more

I fly private for business and leisure. Wheels up is the most unreliable. 100% of my last four-five trips have had major delays, need to change airports/FBO for different equipment or cancellation of one leg each time. Don't bother. Use a different company. read more

I canot recommend. At least the last three flights have been delayed, even as much as an extra day. These were not weather issues by the way but plane placement and maintenance. Currently my family is waiting for its charter which may be delayed again until the morning. They are talking about bumping us to commercial flights. This means flying on delta which will involved multiple stops to get to m aine. I can honestly say that it is not worth the money for the frustration we are feeling right now. When they first opened it was great. Then a financial issue and Delta bailed them out. Then they started to cut King Air service in any area that they could not make a buck. Of course they did not offer to bail out the folks who had money still and were forced to get a quote from there associated charter groups. that would have been fine except the cost was extremely high and in some cases higher they calling the charter folks directly . I can say the flight crews are great regardless of aircraft type. The operations folks are attentive and good. So it is just a case of switch and bait and they should have found a better way to handle there customers in the new non primary service area where they removed all the King Airs. So buyer be ware and make good decisions before you anti up $$. read more

We had not had an on time flight in over two years. We got phone calls around 10pm the night before our flights telling us there was something wrong with either our plane or trip and we would be delayed for an undetermined amount of time. On a recent trip we were flying with more of our family than usual and on a bigger plane. Our trip to our destination was late, but the correct plane. Our trip home was not only late but they had downgraded us to a smaller plane. Normally this wouldn't be an issue but this particular trip we were traveling with 4 people 6'+. The tallest being 6'6". We increasingly began asking the question as to why we were even paying to fly private. The destinations we often fly to are inconvenient to get to, hence why we sought out private planes. Often times with the delays of Wheels Up we would have gotten there faster, and potentially more comfortable, if we had driven. read more

Very disappointed longtime member. Started off strong when it was a new company. Arrogance and inefficiency have taken over. Be careful to read the fine print and you'll find the deal changes at their whim. Very high hourly rate---when you are able to book. Their latest move is to blackout days members have access and try to get you to prepay hundreds of thousands of dollars for the privilege of flying when you need to. read more

I was a member of Wheels Up for two years. When I signed up, they told me they were different from other companies. They told me that I would only be charged for airtime. I am not charged for time on the ground or taxi time or preflight however, that is falls on a recent trip to Palm Springs from Denver. I was not only charged the minimum two hours. I was charged thousands of dollars more, when I spoke to one of the representatives they told me they charged in case of flight delays there was absolutely no delays. The flight was an hour and a half both ways and that they refuse to refund my money. I canceled my membership and no one even bothered to reach out to me and ask why read more

I hesitated to renew my membership because of the poor service, but I make short trips between my offices on the west coast and it was cost effective with the King Air. My renewal was April 28,2023 and on May 11th I get notification that the King Air will not be available after June on the west coast. I reach out to my rep and his response was the following: "After 6/25/23 we will not have king airs on the west coast. With your membership renewal date not being until 4/28/24, and our membership being nonrefundable, I want to try and assist where I can in order for you to best take advantage of the program. Between now and 6/25/23, you are still able to book any King Air travel you have on the West Coast this year. After that date, you will no longer be able to do so." The other jets are more expensive and the light jet is small and terrifying. As a side note their "Guaranteed" recovery is not real. read more

I've been extremely disappointed from the start. There is always an issue with Wheels-Up segments. My family and I have flown private extensively with no hiccups for years- that was until I joined Wheels-Up. I will arrange weeks ahead of time for an appropriate jet size for the desired airport and Wheels-Up will inform me just hours before the flight that they can't get me into that airport and they will get us somewhat close. Always a delay (not weather or mechanical related) they never go on time and there is a negative sense of urgency. With other services they always go when we arrive and are always ready to do so at least 30 minutes prior to the schedule. My flight yesterday was diverted to another airport (true to Wheels-Up form) at the last minute and delayed. This was because we were assigned a plane that under no conditions could land at our airport. The pilot never came into the FBO to inform us of the further delay. When he finally came in he said: "ID's" no "hello. my name is", " I'm your pilot today" or a word greeting. I asked how much longer on the delay (we already were an hour away from our selected airport on an one hour forty-five minute flight) he said: "after we fuel." I asked how long that would be and he said: "after it's done". When I get a water from a newsstand I get better treatment. He went out of his way to be extra rude. We went off late (of course). The other last flight we showed up in our arranged car drove out to the plane and waited 45 minutes to unload. No one came out or said a word to us or the driver. The driver became eventually became extremely impatient and we all got out and went inside into the FBO. No staff inside was aware why it was delayed or how long it would be. A NetJets pilot in the FBO waiting started asking our group what was going on. He was flabbergasted that no one had even made contact with us after an extensive delay. (We understand things happen that's not what this is about). The pilot took it upon himself and walked out to the plane and shammed the Wheels-Up crew to at least come in and explain what was going on. After an explanation similar to a child being forced to apologize for something they didn't want to apologize for by a scolding I deducted that there was a sensor issue and they were waiting for it to be fixed. The pilot went back out to the plane. I got on the phone to customer service and stepped outside for the call. Then I noticed the two pilots getting into an airport club car and just driving away without saying a word to anyone. Wheels-Up customer service said they had to look into what was happening and call me back. Indeed, turns out the pilots just left through the back door and we were told that our flight was canceled for that day and maybe we could get out the following day. Wheels-Up wasn't sure yet. We were a group of six with bags and had to rent a large SUV at the airport. It's just everything too. I tried to use "Wheels-Down" that was a disaster. Advertised on the site was a complimentary member benefit of an extra hour for VIP tours at Universal Studios. When I attempted to use the benefit the Universal staff was unaware of it and looked into it with management and concludEd there was no such benefit. I asked Wheels-Down customer service to look into. It and also to the salesperson that sold me my $250k commitment to look into it. The only thing I got back was "we're still investigating" after many follow-ups over a month and a half. Flying private had always been and is still a dream with all other services... without any exaggeration from my experience with Wheels-Up it is less stressful to fly commercially even during these crazy times. I'd rather watch the board update my delay status from the club than sit in a car told to drive out to the plane and wait 45 minutes with an understandably cranky driver waiting with no updates. And, don't waste your breath bringing these issues up with the company they could care less. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Unfortunately Wheels Up is a scam. I was a member of Delta Privates for many years, and they were fantastic! Beautiful plains, and the best customer service. Delta Privets was acquired by Wheels Up, and that was the beginning of the end. Wheels Up has terrible customer service, and a horrible, dysfunctional app. It is difficult, if not impossible, to reach a knowledgeable representative on the phone to book a flight. The app does not work, EVER; I was with Wheels Up for two years, and NEVER successfully booked a flight using it. My most recent experience with Wheels Up was in February 2022 when they double booked our jet and canceled our flight 1 hour before "wheels up." My family and I were stranded in Los Angeles without a flight. No attempt has been made to rectify the epic blunder of canceling our $30k+ flight just before takeoff. It is now April and I have yet to receive a refund or proper apology. Unfortunately the Internet is full of horrible reviews just like mine. read more
