Fun environment. A dance club. Super crowded naturally. The bouncers are violent, aggressive though. So it's a bit more dangerous but it's a fun place to party and drink. There was a big group of cops just sitting around outside waiting for some sort of trouble to occur. read more

I was just hit in the back with a trash can full of ice. To go along with this poor experience, I was then kicked out for not moving out of the way. Im sober driving for my group of friends and I'm confused about what just happened. Please train your staff more. I get removing drunk people but I'm standing there stone cold sober and get hit/removed from the bar. I would not recommend this place to anyone visiting. This is definitely not my first choice or second choice for a place to hang out. Whereelse is very much a place you end up. If you find yourself toward the end of the night asking, "Where else should we go?" Then you've already found your answer. Don't expect it to be clean at all. Don't expect the patrons to be at all out together. The staff is hit or miss on providing good service. The drinks are okay and the specials aren't anything to write home about. If you're hammered and it's late at night, I would recommend you stop by Whereelse. The music is usually great, and the dance floor is a complete mess of drunken, wild dancing. My friends and I went for St. Patrick's Day. It wasn't busy. Both bartenders were wasted when we got there. There were ten of us. Two of us had our card "lost" by the staff. This establishment is unwelcoming of African Americans. Black people face extreme scrutiny from bouncers and patrons alike. An incident occurred in which 8 bouncers assaulted me for no apparent reason. I was hanging out with a few friends who had rented out a booth, they had left early and told the remaining group (3 of us) we could stay. A short time after a bouncer singles me out and approaches me telling me to leave. I try to explain the situation and while we're talking I get rushed by 8 bouncers and carried out with no prior warning. What could I have been doing to need 8 bouncers? I was not behaving in a threatening manner simpIy talking. I would not recommend this place to any black patron as you may be subjected to the same treatment. I went on Monday with my friends who aren't college students to this bar. I was told I couldn't enter because I wasn't a college student. When I informed the bouncer that neither are my friends he just says "they look like they're in college." When my friends realized I wasn't in there they asked the bouncer what happened. When it was at it's old location, Where Else was my goto bar. I loved everything about it, even the fact that the floor were often dirty from spilled beer. it was a dive that had no pretenses for being anything else. the staff was nice, the drinks were cheap, the specials were good, and it had a decent crowd even on weekdays. i liked the dance floor and they occasionally played things other than hiphop which was more than most bars with a dancefloor can say. the patrons there were usually nice too in the way that people who go to dive bars typically are. Well Where Else had to go and try for an image change. They moved to it's current location and something got lost in the process. I actually thought the purdue bar scene could use something more club like, which was what Where Else was going for, but something about the new location feels off. The huge lines are a massive turnoff and the environment inside feels sterile and manufactured. it has no character. Also with the new image, the new club feel has attracted much more of the trashy and ghetto townies who dont really make the place feel like a friendly college bar. This is probably an unpopular opinion, but i agree with the purdue ID checking policy that many complain about. The purdue bar scene is incredibly cramped as it is and the last thing they need is broke trashy townies from Lafayette coming over and taking up what little space there is. These are college bars on a college campus, students should come first. All that being said, the staff now isnt too bad, not super nice but not mean either. people are misinterpreting being grossly understaffed for poor service. the drink specials are still good and regular prices arnt terrible. the music is okay and the dance floor while just as small as the last one is now much more cramped from having so many more patrons. my issues are mainly from the environment and patrons. it still feels like a bar thats trying to be something that it's not, and it attracts some of the worst people lafayette has to offer read more

They have well priced drinks and that's where the pros end. It is either dead or so busy that you can barely move around. It's known as a bar that is only fun if you're severely inebriated, which is fine in a college town. What's not okay is how the staff treats its customers.
