I was so excited to go to what a thought would be a solid Irish restaurant. Reviews online were good and pictures looked good. We live in Indianapolis and were in the area so we were really looking forward to trying this place. However, the food was overpriced and low quality. I ordered the Connemara Chicken. This restaurant uses boxed Idaho flakes for their mashed potatoes. The kind you just add water to... the ones that are kind of like a paste texture. I could tell right away. The chicken tasted reheated/chewy and unflavored. The sauce wasn't bad but it had a unique flavor. I liked the vegetables (I loved that they were cooked well and not al dente) but my partner said they tasted unflavored to her. Honestly, I was most disappointed by the mashed potatoes. I don't know how an Irish restaurant- or any restaurant - doesn't use real potatoes. Especially when the dish costs $19. For that price, dehydrated flakes are absolutely crazy. I know inflation is high but come on. My dollar matters too and when I decide to dine out on a rare occasion I'd like to be getting quality food. I asked the waitress- who was very attentive and sweet- if this is what they always use for potatoes or if it was an off day and she said they always make them with the Idaho box of flakes. Again, she was super sweet and very attentive. We had no issues with service at all. But using fake mashed potatoes at a restaurant is really disappointing. Especially for the price. Also, the water. The first glass of water we were given tasted normal. The refill tasted super weird so my partner mentioned it. The waitress told us she knows it's weird, apologized, and said that the water in one area of the restaurant tastes weird but the other area tastes fine. She offered to get us water from the "good" faucet after that which we appreciated. Odd to me that they are aware the water tastes off/bad (and have an alternative that's better) but still serve the bad stuff to customers. My partner did really like her tenderloin sandwich. It was crispy and had good flavor. The pub chips were okay but they didn't have seasoning and many were dry/airy and as though they may have been sitting a while. Kinda weird. We talked about possibly coming back when they have live bands to give it another shot and maybe just get an appetizer instead of entrees because we really did like the service and the vibe there. read more

Gone is that rustic penny pinching charm, here amidst dull Indiana cornfields is a new menu with bigger pieces than an Irish pub I went to in Irvine, California. At least the service is solid, a surprising lot of American items for the timid, shepherds pie and Guinness stew are somewhat reasonable, albeit $3.50 of ingredients. I can't wait for Town and Gown to get their dinner menu back up. For the present, T&G's Reuben is better, shock. Nine Irish probably doesn't need to ever lower prices but for the value aims and families hoping to fill up the kids be aware! I highly recommend Boomerangs down the block where a fantastic menu and price awareness hold hands. read more

Delicious food, amazing atmosphere, awesome service, the only thing that made me take away a star was the fact that it was so hot in there. I was struggling to want to eat the delicious fish and chips, the fish was flaky, and the crust was perfect in the breading although it could have used a little more seasoning. The fries were incredible with the perfect amount of salt. The bartender was very welcoming and helped me pick out a beer. The beer was cold. The home brewed Irish red was malty with a bite. Nine Irish Brothers offers comfort food near the Purdue campus at a good price and it is open late!!! Finding your way to the restaurant with all the construction in 2025 sucked though, so be aware of that. There were 7 of us, tired and grumpy from the rainy Purdue Game, rolling in at about 9pm, ready to get some real food for dinner. Fortunately, we were seated right away. We got chatting and enjoyed looking around at the fascinating and delightful pub style decor. The history of the restaurant and its owners is on the back of the menu and is a great and heartwarming read. I ordered the regular size portion of corned beef and cabbage with mashed potatoes and a slice of deliciously dense Irish bread. My bf got a pint of cider and Irish stew with a slice of Irish bread. The table also split an order of pub chips and at the end, a slice of Irish Bailey's cheesecake. The cheesecake is a must get!! My bf paid our bill which was about $40, which is a great price for the large quantity of yummy Irish food we enjoyed. I would love to go back here anytime we are in town. read more

First time here after hearing such good things about Nine Irish Brothers. The parking situation is a MESS with the construction. If You can find a parking spot...then you will enjoy the next steps. We were greeted by a very welcoming host. Our waitress was outstanding. She was friendly and hustled to served our party of 6. We sat out in the patio during a lovely July afternoon. It was nicely shaded and had a cool breeze. The sun flickering off the ceiling fans was a bit annoying though. Nine Irish Brothers has a large food and beverage menu. There should be something for everyone. The facility is large enough to handle busy crowds and large groups. We started with the fried pickles. The pickle is a thin slice from a spear. It was pretty flimsy. It does have a tart dill taste. The batter was very thick and gave the pickle spear firmness. The thick batter retained a bit of a stronger oily taste. It did have a mild set of spices to give it some flavor. The "bomb" sauce was very unique....and difficult to describe. Most fried pickles come with a ranch or chipotle-southwest sauce. This was a very thin dipping sauce. It seemed like maybe they started with a malt sauce and spiced it up. It had some red pepper flakes - which you could see and taste. The dark dipping sauce didn't stick to the breading very well - not like a roast beef au ju. Overall...it was very tasty...or as Nine Irish Brothers say...the "bomb"! My wife really liked the red pepper soup and mashed potatoes. The soup had a very thick consistency and rich red pepper taste. She thought it had a cheesy taste to it as well. The side salad was very large! It was topped with very fresh vegetables along with the cool lettuce. This salad could easily feed two people. I had the Molly Mallory sandwich. The panini slices were slightly toasted with a mild crunch. The panini had a stronger flavor. The sandwich had plenty of fresh turkey. The Cole slaw was creamy and smooth. Crazy down pours and all the constructions with blocked off entrances def added more fun. Nine Irish Brothers is refreshingly authentic within the oft-maligned food and drink choices in the college town of West Lafayette. Dig into their history...it's a family-backed establishment. For me, what makes a stand-out Irish spot first comes down to this: Can they serve a proper pint of Guinness? Nine Irish Brothers hit all the marks that matter to me: Fresh keg, clean tapper lines, proper temperature, proper (and non-hurried) pour topped with a perfect, creamy head. Delicious, crisp, and satisfying with each savory sip. The second stand-out for an Irish spot comes down to who's serving and what are they serving? Nine Irish Brothers has a smartly trained staff that exemplifies friendly efficiency with a welcoming charm hewn into their table side and bar service. I appreciate the hustle every time and I very much appreciate their hustle to execute without making me feel hurried during my meal. Props to everyone for making that happen...that's a team effort. What they're serving at Nine Irish Brothers covers the bases of great traditional Irish plated and other pub food choices. I've been three times and enjoyed each meal. My wife figured this one out after visiting a niece for pre-game band rally at Purdue. We got to Nine Irish Brothers while only 3-4 tables were occupied. The feel of the inside is like what you'd see in the movies. Decorations, TV's (for Purdue game), and light music played while looking thru the menu. Our server was very friendly. We asked for recommendations. You can't go wrong with her suggestions of Fish & Chips and/or Shepard's Pie. The potatoes on my chips were perfect. Fish was perfect. Shepherd Pie was perfect. Full orders were just a bit too much in most cases but were hungry. With it being. Sort of date, we used dessert. Bread Pudding caught our attention. But it has decent amount of raisins which we prefer be none or very, very minimal. So, our server surprised us by getting the Shamrock Pie (chocolate mint ice cream and mousse deliciousness) which was perfect finish for an overall perfect experience. Nine Irish Brothers(, and Five Sisters! as the bar shows - 14 total siblings), in West Lafayette, was the only place still open at 9pm on a SundayAND even if every other restaurant were still open, I think Nine Irish Brothers and Five Sisters would STILL offer the most fantastic food and service in town... it's that good. (no slight against any other restaurants) He menus says that Guinness themselves proclaimed Nine Irish Brothers and Five Sisters as pouring the finest glass of Guinness in America; I'm not a beer connoisseur, and there are many a beer I do not like, and I can attest that Guinness knows what they are talking about - this is a fine pour, indeed! But one of my all time *Hidden Treasure* favorites....pretty much only the locals know about: ya just gotta try Wednesday's lunch special - the Car Bomb Burger! It really is 'da' bomb!' Any other time, you can't beat the Fish and Chips or the Connemara Chicken or the traditional Corned Beef & Cabbage!! But if it's sandwiches you're in the mood for, then you can't go wrong with the Breaded Tenderloin and Rueben! They are just as awesome for change of pace. We went to Nine Irish Brothers for dinner. Unfortunately, the Irish pub fell flat for me, I started with a cup of the red pepper soup, which was good. I had a 1/2 order of the Shepards Pie. Bland. The potatoes to me tasted like box potatoes. Bland. I tried some chips from my wife's fish-n-chips. Bland. I did not have any of the cool looking Guinness drinks. The interior is super cute. Walk inside, close the door behind you and be transported to an Irish pub that would make Dublin proud. Our waitress was absolutely magical. We asked her what she recommended, and she gave us a great recommendation for a beer, appetizer and main course. I love how well she explained everything and her cheerful disposition. The corn beef egg roll appetizer featured hand pulled corn beef, and they are made fresh, absolutely the perfect amount of Kraut to corn beef and Swiss ratio. Hot and Crispy on the outside and perfectly juicy on the inside and cup of thousand island for dip set the flavor perfectly. The fish and chips were apparently "a must try". The haddock was light and fluffy on the inside and perfectly breaded and crisp. The thinly sliced potatoes came with a shamrock sauce dip and reminded me of an interesting combo between a french fry and a chip. We even love the coleslaw. It was fresh, and some kind of homemade dressing that we just couldn't identify, but I think we were kind of in food heaven overloaded that point. The portions were so generous that by the time we had finished the appetizer and split the fish and chips, we could not make it to the wings and we took them home. I haven't been inspired by a restaurant for a couple of months. I've been on the road traveling, and was very tired of chain restaurants. So much effort has been put into making this pub unique. The beers on tap are unique, they have a local sales and a great selection of liquor. The decor is so interesting and the library was a beautiful surprise. The music was festive. I cannot think of one negative thing to say about this place. I can't wait to visit again. I could tell Nine Irish Brothers is a very popular local hot spot. We arrived just before noon on a game day Saturday and were seated immediately however during our visit many had to wait for a table. I started with the fried goat cheese balls which were every good. I figured I would go for something authentically Irish for my entrée so I got the bangers and mash, the serving size was generous but the gravy had a slight 'film' on it as if it had sat for awhile. Our waters were never refilled. I love the family story and that the waiters wear kilts. There were family pictures and memorabilia all around the restaurant. Nine. Had lunch there with my friend. It was the first time we had Irish food. We ordered a salad, a seafood pie, a shepherd's pie and a beef brisket sandwich which was a daily special. The serving size of each entrée was quite generous. For the pies, the meat gravy was rich and it went well with the mashed potato balls. Plus, salad and pies were both served with soda bread. It was different from any kind of bread I ate: dense, a bit sweet, and it crumbled into pieces when I cut it but went well with the pies! The sandwich was, however, kinda plain and too oily for us. Btw, this restaurant was located near downtown West Lafayette. It had many ancient decorations and it was dim inside. In general, it was not a bad experience trying Irish food there. read more

Most of us ordered a black & X (gold / tan etc) pint - lots of fun options We started with Irish pizza n goat cheese fritters n fried green beans (no fried pickles during graduation weekend due to kitchen size & number of reservations) All of the apps were delicious. They are attentive if you can get their attention, quite hard to get to that point though! Not sure why it took me so long to try this restaurant out in person, but the food was even better than eating their takeout! It is known to have authentic Irish dishes, as well as salad and sandwich options. It actually all began with 9 brothers and 5 sisters!! Indoors definitely has the pub feel, but there is also a lovely outdoor patio area that can also fit larger parties. I like seafood so I really enjoyed the Fisherman's Pie. I highly recommend the Fish and Chips, because the fish was delicious. Some other items on the menu were a little too flavorful for me like the sausage in the Banger's and Mash, but the vegetables were plain so I would eat a bite of the sausage and a bite of the veggies to even it out. read more
