Form my experience the clerk will try to rip you off. Most of the products are overpriced. I got a 6 pack of stone IPA and said it's $19 bucks for a 6 pack. Claimed it was "plus tax". I took my business next to the stater bros. Don't recommend it. Save your money. read more

My friend likes this peanut butter stout that I've been hunting for all morning for him! No luck anywhere! We went to Staters next door where my friend initially got it, but they discontinued it. The nice cashier recommended we come to Whiskey Barrel to hopefully find it.. Unfortunately they didn't have this stout either. The nice owner (?) was on the phone, all I had to do was show him a photo of the stout and he knew what I was talking about. He took a picture of the photo on my phone and told me he'd order it. He gets shipments in every two weeks so hopefully he has it when I come in the next time! Super nice guy. Some people would just let you walk out if they didn't have it, but he really tried to help us. And he even took a picture off my phone to remind himself! read more

Right next door to Stater Bros, the last remaining liquor store near this corner of Rowland Heights. Great selection for any last minute alcohol buying and way larger and diverse than the typical grocery store. The service was good and they went out of their way to help us find good deals for champagne to gift. I recommend coming here for hard liquor, wines, and more. I didn't check out the beer selection in detail, but I don't think it is lacking. The same plaza as a bunch of Chinese food, the parking is ok, you can usually find a spot. read more

They remodeled this liquor store not too long ago, and they did a great job. There is certainly a decent selection, albeit a little pricier than Total Wine or Stater Brothers next door. Of course, that's expected. Love to bump into Rowland Heights folk here. Wish they would extend their hours to 1am. The young guy behind the counter is super sweet and helpful. Oh, and there are lots of food trucks that line up right across the street. PS. I do not think it is a deli anymore. read more

This place has been my go to for a quick but quality alcohol run. There is always the beer I love here and also a good selection of alcohol and cigars. I've seen these guys get destroyed by a recent earthquake this year and robbed too. But every time I go these guys are still smiling and happy to help. Too bad Isiah isn't working here anymore. I love craft beers, like absolutely LOVE! Usually, in order to find a good beer selection I would go to the big box wine and beverage stores, but when I stumbled across the Whiskey Barrel, I was pleasantly surprised! Inside the whiskey barrel it is very well organized with a lot of liquor, wine, cigars and the best part...BEER! Their selection is really good! Unlike most corner liquor stores you'v been too. You'll find beers from breweries like dogfish, Rogue, Uinta and the local Angel City. Also, Isaias (trip out, same name as me!) is very chill and helpful. Support your local stores and shop small. The only thing more intoxicating than the alcohol in the store, is the service I received from none other than the attendant named Lawrence. An individual that truly displays the testament of what it means to be a king. I had just come in for a pack of cigarettes but hadn't known that the destruction of my lungs would come much sooner than expected, from having my breath be taken away. With a smile as sweet as rosé and eyes that sparkle like a Martenillis, Lawrence beautifully greeted me with a "sup". A simple gesture that shook me to my core and separated me from my sense of self. From that moment, I knew I wasn't dealing with just an average man. It took all of me to muster up the strength not to wallop in the presence of this entity. "Sup"? An extemporaneous greeting refined with poise and elegance. Not as rehearsed and extravagant as a "hello how's it going?" and not as cordial and aloof as a "hi". But a "sup". Remarkable. I then went on to purchase said stoges and moved toward the counter. In a flash, he jumped up and sprung for the cigarettes across the way. Upon arrival, he gently reached for the pack like picking up a dandelion. A combination of speed and fragility. Reminiscent of seeing lighting in a very quiet home. This duality of chaos and comfort. After a moment, he then asked for my money to conclude this euphoric exchange. I complied. With hesitance of course. The thought of ending this transcendental interaction scared me out of my wits. But when he said goodbye, I found peace. Not only within the transaction, but within myself. I found peace that delved into me, across planes of thought and consciousness. Across body and soul. I found sanctuary in my shell and found it suitable for me to finally depart. After staring into the eyes of God, our human vessels still have to blink. I replied with a soft "thank you" like whispering into a wildfire. Then I left. Words cannot describe this newfound ethereal perspective that "Lawrence" bestowed upon me. Beforehand, I came in a man of science and truth, basing notions on fact and evidence. Now, I stand a man who searches for Truth within myself. I received Fact from a corner convenience store. And I found Evidence within the eyes of a being named "Lawrence". To know of this wisdom and not act upon it, would be ignorance of the highest caliber. I suggest you come meet our creator- well.. he may not be our creator, but I know he perfectly emulates exactly why God chose to create in the first place.
