Full disclosure: I did not call back and complain or give them the option to fix it. That's why I'm giving 2 stars. I took my 2 year old in to get a haircut and asked for a gentleman's cut. Rather than him getting a fade it was a 1 all the way up. I didn't worry much at the time, as the wedding we are in is still 2 weeks away. Anyways she gets done with my 2 year old and I asked her to clean up my one year old. That consisted of trimming the hair around his ears and in the back (took all of 1-2 minutes). After a tip the total was 30$. I thought it was rather pricy considering they are 2 and under. Anyways. I didn't notice how bad his cut was until I got home and styled it. So like I said at the beginning of the post I did not call and just fixed it the best I could on my own. If this is all you do, and the price is that high, they should be amazing at fades and men's/boys haircuts. read more

Rude and unprofessional, been here before and the haircuts were subpar, but decided after a year it was time for a second chance. I called at 4pm asking if they had time for a walk in, said they close at 6 and take the last walk-in at 5:30. Okay, so my boyfriend walks in at 5:00, there is one person half cut in the chair, one waiting, he stood around for 4-5 minutes before someone says "sorry we are closed, flip the sign on the door I've got all I can take for the day" Really? You have two staff on the floor and Two and a half haircuts is too much for you in an hour? Needless to say we won't be returning or recommending Whiskeytown Barber to anyone. read more

So let me start off by saying I wanted to like this place so bad because I loved the name. But alas it could not be helped. I got the worst haircut of my life here I literally ally have no idea what or why Kristin did this to my hair. Anyways I asked her to follow same lines a 2 up and half the length on top to keep it out of my eyes, I diddnt even need a fade or anything!! Simple! Anyways she doesn't know what to do, is acting confused and questioning the lines that my five star barber in seattle (who has been doing my hair for years) did! So she butchers me then waxes the hair back and hides it, would have been even worse if I didn't tell her to take it Down on the sides more, hands down absolute WORST haircut I have ever gotten and no way I will ever return here. I diddnt notice how bad it really was until I got home, tons of long hairs I trimmed behind my ears, spots She missed with the clippers that I had to trim with my own shaver, stray hairs, and the hair in the front is hardly ttrimmed and still goes in my eyes! Let be to support local.businesses. This is a couple that just moved to this location. They definitely know what they are doing in terms of haircuts. They take their time and don't rush the haircut. The result is a nice haircut. They are open reasonable hours for those that have a 9-5 job. They are flexible. Hello WhiskeyTown Barber Shop Owner, Employees, Current Customers, Previous Customers, and Potential Customers: I'm a business professional and admittedly a bit of a perfectionist. My haircut length, lines, and symmetry are all very important to me because as a web developer I work with graphic design and aesthetics all day long. I know the value and impact a clean design can have, and try to view haircuts through the same lens I would any other design or visually imperative project. But, I'm admittedly a bit of a perfectionist and I was hesitant to come back to this barbershop after having a sub-par experience a couple of the previous times. You see, I have a hard-part that was migrating up towards the top of my head with each cut. And, after it had moved nearly an inch, I had to grow everything back out for 6 months and start over again. Not fun. Before I moved to Redding, I would get my hair cut in a much larger (but further away) city from someone I've trusted for years so this was never a problem. However, today I needed a haircut in a pinch for an upcoming presentation and the WhiskeyTown Barber Shop had to suffice. As soon as I walked in the door, Kelsey was there to greet me and assure me that the wait wouldn't be long. A few short minutes later, she would end up cutting my hair and trimming my beard. And, I must say, the results pleasantly surprised me. I can confidently say that I now have a new, local barber that is capable of delivering high-end cuts for around half the price that I'm used to paying elsewhere. It sounds like marketing mumbo-jumbo but hey, that's honestly the bottom line. So for me, writing this unsolicited review was a no brainer. I had a problem and needed a quick solution. And, after briefly explaining to Kelsey what my issue was last time (not with herself, but whomever did the previous cuts), she quickly confirmed what I wanted and got to work. And, well, I'm the type of person that typically pays attention when I'm having work done on something (e.g. a car, a house, etc.), and even more so when that work is on myself. But, with Kelsey, I found myself engaged in conversation the entire time because she had me at ease by demonstrating her professionalism and knowledge from the beginning. In fact, she even had to remind me to stay still a few times because I was so relaxed I'd sometimes forget I was even getting a haircut. As a business owner, Kelsey is a great example of the types of employees I want my business to have, and as a customer, a great example of the types of people that I want to conduct my business with on a day-to-day basis. Ultimately, I'm a busy guy but I believe in taking time out to acknowledge good, hard-working people. And well, Kelsey seems like a truly valuable asset to your business. I was in Redding to shop for Groceries but ended up needing a haircut. I was looking for a place that closed a little later and luckily I found this place. Sky was the owner and he was great. We had great convos and he was really personable. The hair cut was exactly what I asked for so I'm happy. Price was reasonable at $15 for a haircut. The shop was clean and looked really nice. All in all, it's a great spot to get your hair cut and to have nice conversation struck up with Sky. Check the shop out if you are looking for a good clean cut. read more

I'll go back to the whiskeytown barbershop. Jasmine did an awesome job with my hair which is tricky because it's curly in some places, wavy in others, and straight elsewhere. She was able to deal with it well and created exactly the look I asked of her. It's a small shop with a comfortable vibe. My only regret was that I didn't realize there was free beer with every cut until I was halfway out the door. I'll remember for next time. read more

I brought my 2 boys in for haircuts. This was our first experience at a barber shop, as we normally go to a walk in hair salon. My 9 year old is picky about how his hair is cut and was wanting to get a fade this time. We walked in with no appointment and Jasmin was able to cut both of their hair in a very timely fashion. She was so interactive asking them questions about school, sports, hobbies, etc. Both boys loved their haircuts and begged for us to only have their hair cut at this barber shop.
