The number of apartments I have been in to visit friends all had mold in the vents mine included, causing my asthma to worsen. THIS PLACE IS NOT A SAFE PLACE TO LIVE! A cardboard box under a bridge is much cleaner than Campus Edge. If a problem is to arise, management will come in and do a surface look and will say mold was never there. But mold likes to grow in dark places like the ceiling tiles that they never even took a look at. My asthma has worsened from living here. Being nearby, you can smell the musk of mildew. The carpet only gets vacuumed once a month. The previous owners had security, a camera room, and a team of maintenance. Now they're all gone. The building is left unlocked, with drug addicts coming in to just roam the halls and steal whenever they please! I had my bike bag stolen right off my bike it had my inhaler, work gloves, and water in it. When I told them about it for 2 days, I was led on believing they would catch the person only to say they weren't even allowed to look at the cameras, as the owner thats weird. But it just turns out the carmeas monitors are all gone with the cameras disabled. People are paying $800 in rent to not get a safety feature that I and my parents were originally sold on. Rent used to be $600 for a one bedroom, but now it's $800 for no improvements and mold out the wazoo! There is carpet in the kitchen that is a sanity concern!All the chicken juice, spills, and water puddles. Why is the apartment carpet sticky no matter how many times you clean it, it's just gross to touch. But don't worry, the pipes bursting in the walls and management taking their sweet time to come and fix it plugging a box fan to dry it but never clean it into a outlet that has water actively leaking out trying to start a fire or something. I say this in warning do not get involved with Campus Edge even if it is the last place to live. Send a health inspector first before signing anything. I only speak from my own experience living there, which is the truth of this matter to me

Every hallway has a musty smell, and while they tried to cover it up with automatic air fresheners, those disappeared long ago. A friend of mine who also lived here had a water leak that took two months to fix, leading to mold growth in their kitchen and bathroom, which aggravated their asthma. The previous owners sold the building without any notice to us tenants, and the new owners clearly don't care about the existing residents. While the maintenance team responds quickly, they are not skilled in repairs, so you'll likely have to call them multiple times before the issue is properly addressed. I experienced this with my toilet and a leak. The old owners had a key fob security system and a security guard who monitored the cameras and patrolled the halls late at night. But that was all removed as soon as the new owners took over, leaving the doors unlocked ever since. One of the reasons I chose to live here was because of the security, but that's no longer the case. Under the previous owners, the rent was about $650 a month for a two-bedroom apartment. They were upfront about the condition of the apartments. In contrast, the new management will lie about the state of your unit, both before and after you move in or out. No two units are alike; I've lived here for nearly seven years and have seen many friends' and neighbors' apartments. Not one of them looked the same. I no longer know anyone in the office personally, unlike with the previous owners. However, from my few interactions with the current staff, I can tell you they desperately need an attitude adjustment. I'm only 23, and even I know that's no way to speak to people. I can't suggest another specific place because I've only ever lived here since starting college, but I strongly recommend you avoid this property. There are undoubtedly better options in Indiana, PA--I've heard good things about Philadelphia Square, for instance. I'm not sure who paid for the glowing reviews you might see, but I can assure you they're misleading. My electric bill was nearly $100 one month because this place is so poorly insulated; you can feel every draft through the windows and doors. Don't expect your electricity costs to be flat. The chances of this review staying up are slim because I know management can delete them, but if you do see this, please find somewhere else to live. IUP Campus Edge is not what it used to be. Ignore every other Google review if you must, but note that this is a terrible place for college students. The management takes advantage of tenants, they are rude, and your financial situation will likely worsen after living here. I now own a house with my boyfriend and moved out over the summer almost a year after they sold the building and made it IUP campus edge. I highly doubt in the short three months that any of the conditions have changed and judging from a few of the new reviews, I've seen they haven't.

There is plenty of parking, so that is not an issue at all. The apartments themselves are a bit outdated, depending on which one you get. Mine is kind of 1980'sish and they did this weird plaster swirly thing on all the walls and ceilings so I can't hang pictures. Some apartments have bigger kitchens than others. I unfortunately have one with a galley kitchen with not enough space to do epic cooking. With my microwave, I only have a foot and a half of counter space left to cook. I have ample closet space which is nice. I have a coat closet in the front room and a large, roomy walk in closet in the bedroom. The bathrooms are kind of small, but okay. I wish my bathtub itself was bigger because it barely sits me when I sit down in it, and I like relaxing baths and I can't really do that in the bathtub in this apartment. If you are an IUP student, it is too far away to walk to campus unless the weather is nice (though no sidewalks out here) and since it is in White Township, you can get a free commuter pass. I like how it is family owned and Sue has always been nice and helpful. They recently redid a lot of the landscaping and it is really pretty. I have an apartment with a courtyard view and the new rock garden with hedges is nice to see, though I was sad to see the older trees go. The mail system is good, though I do sometimes worry when my packages are left in front of my door, but it seems like a safe community and no one has stolen anything of mine yet, so that is good so far! The laundry machines are fairly old, and sometimes break down often. Certain days and evenings such as Sunday afternoon and evening and Friday afternoons the laundry room is crowded. Sometimes in the winter they don't plow the snow early or often enough, so the few near accidents I had his winter were trying to drive out of the apartment complex! I wish the bus services had better hours for coming to the complex, as I often had classes at IUP at night and the buses stopped running. Other things people may want to know: -No pets are allowed -The apartments have electric baseboard heating -Generally you can hear your neighbors through thin walls in the bathrooms -They pay for water, but you pay for the electric bill, cable tv, and phones -Some of the lighting fixtures like I have in my apartment don't seem to take flourescent light bulbs and now it's hard to find incandescent to replace them. -If you need repairs you can call them during their office hours, but if it's an emergency, you can call another number 24/7.

I paid for my full last month but ended up moving into my new place in the middle of the month. My new place was 90 minutes away in Pittsburgh, so I had turned the keys in early. I thought I was being courteous, they got paid for the full month and they got their room back early after all! Well, apparently they took this to mean I was "breaking my lease" even though my entire term was paid for, and because I "left early" I had given insufficient notice. This meant that I got charged $212.22 for said insufficient notice (I got charged for showing courtesy??). On top of this, the apartments aren't very nice and aren't in a very good area. You also have to pay $6 to get a small load of laundry done and need to get those dumb laundry cards that are practically guaranteed to have money on them still when you leave. If you're a pet owner there are also minimal accommodations, with there being no pet waste disposal areas. I overall loathed my time at the place, and was somehow further frustrated while leaving! I would definitely consider any other option first. The only reason I signed with them in the first place was because they offered a 3-month lease and I needed a place short-term.

In addition to her demeanor, she was often closing the gym and tanning facilities that tenants pay for. She only cares about getting as much money out of you as possible. You will not get your security deposit back regardless of how much you clean and keep up your place. I previously have never had any issues with receiving my entire security deposit back, but she charged us additional fees on top of not receiving out deposit back. The place was scrubbed clean and not one thing was damaged or broken. If she was working with anyone but college students, she would not get away with her behavior towards her tenants. It was not a surprise to find out she was previously arrested for "theft by deception/false impression."

Cons - Doesn't seem as "clean" in the hallways at all times (sometimes other residents who have no respect will leave their garbage in the hallways because their parents didn't drill cleanliness into their heads well enough) and yes, it does smell like weed when you walk through the halls sometimes (it's college, lets be serious.) Noise - the walls are not the thickest and the door way has a slight crack in it, so that makes noise in-between apartments a little loud sometimes, but security will handle it if need be. Access to one door only - you're only able to access your apartment through one door instead of the outside door closest to your apartment - I was told that this may change because they are moving towards a keycard entry system. Some of your neighbors are more disrespectful than others, but this has nothing to do with the apartments. Office hours - they don't have office hours on Saturdays or Sundays, so don't expect to pick your packages up on those days or get a parking pass... Parking - they charge per semester and if you have a guest over that drives they will need a parking pass or get towed -- kind of a little ridiculous Overall, not a horrible place to live...and they do try and do little things for their residents as well, like randomly having pizza in the office and other things along those lines.

I didnt really have any…read moreintention of ever writing a review or otherwise having this ever aired in public but Jamee's review was brought to my attention so I figured I would say something. On the day of my closing of my house I was asked by the sellers realtor from Oak Grove if I would be keeping any of the security deposit of the two tenants. I expressed that I was giving it all back to which multiple times the sellers agent suggested I keep a large portion. I am not a landlord just someone buying his first home I did not want any drama. I told her this and she proceeded to make a comment along the lines of "You should keep at least half it teaches them a lesson they are young and need to be taught character or how the world works". That isnt an exact quote but it contains the essence of what she said. I was naturally fairly offput by this and I mentioned it to my tenants and ensured them I would be giving back their full deposit. I want to make sure anyone who reads this understands that what she was suggesting while not very appropriate in my opinion was in no way shape or form illegal. I read through the tenant contract and the amount of stipulations in it that would result in withholding deposits were a lot. If I chose to I could have legally kept every cent of the deposit based on the contract. I dont think some of those conditions are fair but nobody forced anyone to sign it. Now that its come to this point I will explain the two star review based on my experience. My home was set to close at the end of March it was an FHA loan. The appraiser determined that there were about 12 areas that had chipped paint that needed redone to pass FHA. The sellers agent asked for a 3 week extension in order to get it done then proceeded to wait around 2 weeks to even start the work. Sort of understandable due to rainy weather although majority was indoor painting. She proceeded to contact my bank and appraiser without even letting us know when the job wasnt completed wasting everyones time. Because of this it barely was ready for the new closing day. Outside of personality I would at least expect a realtor to be competent enough to check the work done before jumping the gun bypassing the buyer and wasting the banks time. Im a first time homebuyer so maybe this is standard for the industry but all of this left a bad taste in my mouth. I probably wouldnt even look at a house represented by them again not to mention using them as an agent.
